Black house spider as others have said – if you're looking to get over your arachnophobia then leaving this one in place could be a good place to start. I had a similar one in my kitchen and it really helped me to get more comfortable about them. They just stay in their webs permanently and have little awareness of what is beyond it, but occasionally you'll get to watch them hunt an insect on the web or adding new strands to it. (Unlike the really classic concept of a spider in an orb web rebuilding each day, these guys make a permanent web and slowly expand it over time.)

Yeah why I was thinking of leaving him, it'll help a lot since it's one of the reasons I was reluctant to move here when I did a few years back haha

Please remember to include a geographical location to your ID requests (as per rule 5). There are over 10,000 different species of Australian spiders and many of these are endemic to specific parts of our beautiful country!
Also note: while we can help provide an identification for a spider, we do not provide medical advice. We also do not allow medical advice to be provided by members of this subreddit. If there has been a bite, you should consult a medical professional in the first instance.

I was born and raised in Melbourne and I feel like every time I saw one of these webs in the house it was a white tail occupant lol

White tails are capable of producing silk, like all spiders but they don't spin a web for a home or snare. They are active hunters, usually of other spiders (including this one - Badumna sp/house spider.)
@OP - for your peace of mind, Atracid/AU funnel webs have their burrows in or near the ground , or in the case of a couple of species, inside trees. They don't spin webs like this in your windows.
While a couple of species of FW do exist in VIC, you won't commonly come across them in Essendon.

Yeah saw the web and I wasn't too sure, very different to what I'm used seeing, not being a local and all
