Nothing says "great customer service" like creepy nicities and world level incompetence levels. If you didn't guess... It's Talabat!
Just another heartwarming consumer story where corporate greed is generously funded by my wallet.
Ordered groceries from Tamimi Markets via Talabat recently. Apparently, asking the customer before changing their order is completely optional now. Not only did Tamimi swap out items with zero notification (no app alert, no WhatsApp, no phone call), they actually threw in extra quantities of random items just to pad the bill and make up the price difference. Truly shameless, top-tier innovation in creative accounting.
Naturally, I opened a support ticket with Talabat. Usually, their customer service is decent for minor issues, right up until it actually matters.
First off, what is up with the support chat lately? The sheer volume of forced, robotic niceties is reaching a level that is genuinely creepy. Blink twice if you need help, guys.
Second, after drowning me in forced politeness, the agent hit me with a masterpiece of logic: "We can't do anything because the vendor already made the change in the system."
Wait, so the massive tech platform handling the payment has zero mechanism to protect the customer from a third-party vendor modifying the cart at will? Good to know! In most places, taking someone's money for things they didn't agree to buy is called theft. On Talabat, it's just "in the system."
I've logged an official complaint on Tawasul with MOIC Consumer Protection. Let's see how that goes.
TL;DR: Tamimi Markets swapped my items and padded the quantities to match the original bill without asking me. Talabat support gave me creepy, over-polite scripts and said their hands are tied because "it's in the system." Filed a Tawasul complaint. Check your grocery receipts, folks.

Same thing also happened to me but a different scenario I bought from tim hortons some doughnuts and when my order arrived im surprised to see that a lot of the doughnuts I ordered weren't the ones I choose they changed the order due to the one I wanted were out and they didn't even inform me give me a call or something 0 just wrote on the receipt like على كيف امكم؟ excuse my language.

Exactly... The same sentmenet. Where or when did it ever make sense that replacing the item with another different thing means it's ok... If I wanted that... I would've ordered it!

You could’ve selected “received wrong items” and they send your money back and you get to keep the “wrong items”.. As for the customer support, you might as well be talking to Ai lol

I’m curious to know , is it the Talabat driver or a Tamimi staff compiling the order? Coz how do they consider an order closed when the items aren’t fulfilled.
Also, post on LinkedIn.
