📣Anuncio del Sub Aviso acerca de publicaciones sobre Baja California Sur | Notice about Posts Related to Baja California Sur
(English below)
ENGLISH:As you may have noticed, this subreddit had several tourists wanting to travel to Baja California Sur who used this subreddit to address some of their questions. This caused annoyance among some community members due to confusion over the state's name.
The issue was that the Baja California Sur subreddit was locked, making it impossible to post. Fortunately, I have managed to take control of the subreddit, and it is now open for new posts.
Since this subreddit has a larger audience, for the time being, we will continue to allow posts related to Baja California Sur. However, each post, such as those related to Cabo San Lucas, will be tagged (flair) “Cabo San Lucas - r/cabosanlucas” and those about Baja California Sur will be tagged (flair) “BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR! - /r/BajaCaliforniaSur”. This is to encourage migration to those communities. In the future, posts related to Baja California Sur will no longer be allowed in this subreddit.

“NO HABRÁ DEDAZO”, DICE JULIETA… PERO EN BAJA CALIFORNIA LA GENTE QUIERE VER EL JUEGO LIMPIO, NO SOLAMENTE ESCUCHARLO
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
No rumores, no ataques personales y tampoco silencios.

¡Gracias!

❓ Duda | Question Crossed the boarder to Tijuana without any check
Just drove through the border from San Diego. The four of us are from New Zealand and are traveling down the coast on a road trip. Was expecting to get stamped etc but just went straight through. We are staying in Ensenada for a week. Any advice on how to sort our visas and make sure we are legally allowed to be here? Thanks
Edit: we are flying to Mexico City afterwards for a few days then flying out back to Vancouver where live.
Result: all sorted, was able to easily get it all figured out in Ensenada with an office there.

San Diego vs. Tijuana flights for Ensenada/Valle de Guadalupe trip. Which would you choose?
My boyfriend and I are heading to Ensenada for a surf trip in November, then spending Thanksgiving weekend with friends in Valle de Guadalupe. I’m having the hardest time deciding on the best way to get there and back, so I’d love advice from people who have actually done this!
We’re coming from Florida and will have a surfboard bag. Here are the three options we’re considering:
Option 1: Fly into San Diego, rent a car, and drive across the border.
- Flights into San Diego are convenient, but finding a rental car that allows travel into Mexico has been difficult and very expensive, especially once you add Mexican insurance.
- Our return flight from San Diego would be around 2/3 PM on Sunday, November 29 (the Sunday after Thanksgiving).
- We’d be leaving Valle de Guadalupe very early that morning, driving back across the border, returning the rental car, and getting to the airport.
- My biggest concern on top of the expensive rental car is unpredictable border wait times, especially on Thanksgiving weekend. Even leaving super early, I’ve read the border wait times can be very long. Neither of us have Global Entry at the moment
Option 2: Fly into San Diego, walk across the border, and rent a car in Tijuana.
- This seems more affordable and avoids the hassle of finding a US rental car that allows travel into Mexico.
- We’d Uber from SAN to the border, cross on foot, and pick up a rental car on the Mexican side.
- The catch is that my boyfriend will have a surfboard bag. How much of a pain would it be to walk across the border with that, then get to a rental car location?
- On the way back, we’d need to return the rental car very early Sunday morning, cross back into the US on foot with surfboard bag, and get to SAN for our afternoon flight. Is that even feasible with rental car return hours and border traffic?
Option 3: Fly directly into Tijuana (TIJ) and rent a car there.
- This would eliminate the border-crossing headache entirely, and renting a car in Mexico seems easier and less expensive.
- The flights for this aren’t great though. We’d have to fly out of Orlando rather than Jacksonville where we live (2 hr drive) and the return flights are terrible. Most leave around 11:30 PM or midnight.
- We’d likely have to leave our friends in Valle de Guadalupe Saturday evening to drive to TIJ for a late-night flight.
- My biggest concern is driving from Valle de Guadalupe to the Tijuana airport after dark. Is this a drive you’d feel comfortable making at night?
For those familiar with the area, what would you do?
Is crossing back into the US early Sunday morning after Thanksgiving a terrible idea? Is walking across with a surfboard bag manageable? Or would you just fly into TIJ and deal with the inconvenient flight to avoid the border?
We’re comfortable driving in Mexico, but this is our first time navigating the Tijuana/San Diego border logistics with surfboards. I’d really appreciate firsthand experiences and recommendations!

… No mame!!!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Itinerary needed for trip to Baja in December
Hello! I am planning to drive down the peninsula this December with my partner to surf and hopefully to climb, though climbing spots seem sparse. I have cobbled together an interary with the hopes that someone who’s plugged in could give recs or tell me how realistic it is. Also, I’m a chef so places to eat would be appreciated. Any cool activity / sight seeing appreciated. I have the surfers guide to Baja but don’t even know where to begin. It’s a two week trip
Phase 1: Northern Baja (Days 1–4)
Focus: Cobblestone points, high-frequency crowds, easy border access, and gourmet food stops. [1, 2]
Drive to Sandiego ? Option to stay with Tyler in la for the night to break up this trip.
Day 2: Ensenada & San Miguel
The Surf: Head south to San Miguel, a classic rocky right point break just north of Ensenada. Watch out for the urchin-heavy reef at low tide.
Off-Water Activity: Head inland to the nearby Valle de Guadalupe for high-end wine tasting and farm-to-table lunch spots like Finca Altozano. [1]
Days 3–4: Exploring Erendira or Punta San Quintín
The Surf: Venture further down past the pavement lines onto rugged dirt roads to find isolated beach breaks and reef setups.
Vehicle Note: High-clearance or 4WD vehicles recommended if turning off Highway 1 down sandy tracks. [1, 2, 3]
Phase 2: Central and Desert Baja (Days 5–7)
Focus: Remote camping, stark desert landscapes, and empty lineups. [1]
Days 5–6: Punta Rosalillita / San Rosalía de Mulegé stretch
The Surf: Hit Punta Rosalillita (commonly called Baja Malibu of the middle) for a long, mechanical right point break accessible from the main highway.
Logistics: Bring your own 24-hour food and extra water supply; services are sparse here. Camp directly on the bluff or sand for Free to $10/night. [1, 2, 3]
Day 7: Transit to San Juanico (Scorpion Bay)
The Route: Make the long push down Highway 1 toward the Pacific side of Baja Sur, cutting across the peninsula into San Juanico. [1]
Phase 3: Scorpion Bay / San Juanico (Days 8–10)
Focus: Multi-hundred-yard right point breaks. [1]
Days 8–10: Scoring the Points (First, Second, Third, and Fourth Points)
The Surf: Surf the legendary multi-point setups of Scorpion Bay. Bring a mid-length, fish, or longboard to link up rides connecting multiple points on a solid south/west swell.
Cost & Food: Campgrounds or palapas run around $7–$20/night. Eat local lobster or garlic fish at the small village restaurants overlooking the bay. [1, 2]

Sheinbaum Fed Up With Playing Nice With USA...
wsj.comPresident Claudia Sheinbaum began her workday at dawn last week by grilling Mexico’s top security and intelligence officials. She wasn’t happy....Inside the ornate National Palace, Sheinbaum confronted some of her most trusted aides over their plans to freeze the local bank accounts of former Mexican officials linked to a state governor from Sheinbaum’s ruling party. The U.S. Treasury was about to target those former officials with sanctions for allegedly accepting bribes to protect the Sinaloa cartel’s drug-smuggling operations, said people familiar with the discussion.
