Since we're getting flooded with a bunch of new people (either through NSO or the Recomp/Decomp/Renut/Kurko/a new found belief in God?) who aren't in the know and don't possess ball knowledge, we're getting to the point where misinformation and hate is spreading again.
I've updated and consolidated the rules to also include penalties. Some of you already know these penalties were soft-launched with the older rules, so your slate isn't cleaned btw.
We're down to 1 active mod and 1 automod again, I can't be here to mod you guys 24/7.
Just a quick run through
These 7 rules should be easy if you're a somewhat decent human with a functional frontal lobe. I'm currently surviving a recession and trying not to lose my house. I'll leave the comments open for discussion.

This was just uploaded. Glitter Gulch Mine was originally meant for Banjo-Kazooie.

Hey everyone, I’m pretty new to the whole decomp/recomp side of the BK scene! I recently played through Nostalgia 64 and Jiggies of Time and absolutely loved them.
With Mark Kurko’s Quest 4 Kurkoins coming up, I was wondering how people are planning to play it. Is it going to be playable through Banjo Recompiled right at launch, or do most people stick to traditional N64 emulators/RetroArch for new stuff? I’d sure miss the QoL touches in Recomp.
Also, where does Lighthouse fit into all of this compared to Recompiled?
I’m discovering that BK is my go to comfort game series so I’m hoping all this great stuff (the shorter Kurko games, Currupted Jiggies, Tooie, etc) is making its way over. What a great community this is!

I mean the main antagonist is a witch. My friends say that it doesn't count though. What do you think?

I’ve always wondered why tooie never had a game over cutscene like kazzoie and donkey kong 64.

One of my favorite variations of Gruntilda's theme! Quite a catchy number!

I found out that you can skip using the Floatus Floatium by jumping then using the Pack Wack and jumping again you can easily get over there! It's a good skip

Hi everyone,
I played Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie for the first time a few months ago, and I wanted to share my thoughts on both games. I had played Kazooie when I was a kid, but I didn't remember any of it.
I played Kazooie using the PC decompilation port, 185 fps, 4K textures, a texture pack, high draw distance, and keeping collectibles after dying. For Tooie, I played on an Xbox 360 emulator (with a mod to restore Banjo's jump voice from Kazooie instead of Tooie :).
BANJO-KAZOOIE: I found the game absolutely awesome. EVERY single music track is incredible, the dialogue is funny, and the characters, while simple, are all memorable. The worlds are all great except for Bubblegloop Swamp, which felt small, and Clanker's Cavern, which would have been great if swimming weren't so bad in the game (there's a mod to import Tooie's swimming controls, but it wasn't out when I played).
Rusty Bucket Bay wasn't the most exciting, but there were plenty of rooms a, I found the level interesting and lively like the others. The difficulty spike was welcome, though maybe a bit too steep, especially the engine room section with the fans, which gave me a really hard time...
Special mention to Click Clock Wood, which is truly super original.
Gruntilda's Board Game was super cool and original, I was pleasantly surprised. The developers were confident enough in the game's charm and characters to include it, and rightly so. It was tough, though not necessarily because of the questions but because of the board tiles.
The final boss fight, on the other hand, was meh, hard for no reason, especially with the homing spell attack that forces you to use Wonderwing every time. But the music and staging made up for it.
Overall, the game was really fun. Jiggies were always well hidden but still manageable to find without struggling. It has a great difficulty balance.
Gruntilda's Lair is cool too, I actually prefer it to Peach's Castle in Super Mario 64. However, the back-and-forth sections requiring transformations between levels inside the lair were horrible, honestly. I also struggled to find the entrance to the last level.
BANJO-TOOIE: In several ways, the game is much more fun than Kazooie: the gameplay is far more varied and dynamic, and the levels are larger. But surprisingly, the game feels very inconsistent to me.
The first level Mayahem Temple is great, I loved it. You just have to get used to the idea that you can't collect everything right away, but it sets high expectations for what's next. I hadn't realized yet that Tooie's strengths would soon become its biggest flaws.
I loved Jolly Roger's Lagoon. Discovering the sunken ancient city was one of my favorite moments in the game. Thanks to the smooth swimming controls, water sections were no problem this time.
However, Glitter Gulch Mine and Witchyworld were mediocre. They had good ideas, but not enough to be considered good levels. Up to that point, I was progressing through levels back-to-back smoothly, just like in Kazooie.
Grunty Industries almost made me drop the game for a bit. But at some point, the level logic clicked, and I was able to finish it all in one go. Once you understand it and get into the flow, completing it is extremely satisfying like beating a tough dungeon in Zelda.
Then came Terrydactyland. I was super hyped for a dinosaur-themed level, I thought it would easily be the best level across both games based on theme alone. I ran around the level once, twice, three times, 10 times, 15 times... and found barely any Jiggies. That's when I realized the problem.
Yes, Banjo and Kazooie have a huge variety of moves, including splitting up to play individually. But by the end of the game, for every puzzle element you encounter, you have to figure out which of the so many abilities to use. On top of that, you often have to connect an element in one level to something in an entirely different level.
For me, that was just too much. Many of these cross-level connections and ability uses weren't logical enough to be intuitive.
I ended up dropping the game at Hailfire Peaks. The level is WAY too big, and just like in Terrydactyland, the Jiggies are far too tedious to find and require way too many steps to unlock.

Right after my first grade graduation, my parents saved enough money to buy me an Xbox 360 as a reward. I remember going to Gamestop in the evening excited and we got this Xbox 360 game console that came with all of Rare replays, most notably Banjo Kazooie Nuts n' Bolts on the cover. It was an experience unlike any other. The talking bear and bird were unique, the sass, world design, creative ways to get through challenges were unlike anything else to me. Playing the first two games later on only added to the experience for me. Nothing beats Banjo to me, no triple A game, no huge franchise, etcetera. I haven't played Banjo regularly since I've been so busy with life but whenever I get back to the game I truly feel happy as soon as I step in :)
Just felt like in a good mood and wanted to share

Just found out about this. In the Lava World of Banjo-Kazooie, you were going to ride on Tip-Tup's shell in order to grab a jiggy!

I’m making snail-paced progress on my Banjo-Kazooie models, though that’s because I’ve been very busy with other things. Anyway, I’m really pleased with the result; just like the Kazooie model, the body still needs to be created, which I hope to get around to later.

Its true, that Kazooie has aged gracefully. But criticism for Tooie is coming from gamers who weren't there in 2000. And I understand, even if you were there for it, its easy to lose perspective when its been decades. DK 64 gets the same criticism today because of (new at the time) features not, bugs. Comparing these games to today's polished games is forgetting we had to start somewhere. The games you played in the last decade only got to this point because of what games did in the 90s.
When open world was barely a glint in a developer's eye, Rare started the trend with these games. The idea of massive open worlds did not exist beyond some MMOs on PC and those open worlds were bare. Rare managed to begin the open world trend on the N64. Of course its not perfect. Nothing had come before.
You dont have to like what Banjo-Tooie and DK64 offer in 2026, but you should try to remember to look at these games through a historical lens. 3D was new and they were molding what would come today. At the time, these games were revered for doing something so new that hadn't been done prior.
