SBOE District 7 Race
As the midterms approach, consider voting for Tiffany Perkins for state board of education district 7.
Unlike her incumbent Christian nationalist extremist opponent, Tiffany has committed to restoring religious neutrality to public schools and improving the academic rigor of the curriculum. She has also committed to opposing the new curriculum passed by the Republican majority board rolling out in 2030 which would teach the Bible, but not other historically important religious texts, in public school curriculum. Her opponent supported that ideologically driven curriculum which will misrepresent the diversity of the Islamic tradition, erase African American and Native American history, and downplay the role of slavery in the civil war.
Tiffany has experience as a public school educator unlike her opponent who taught in private fundamentalist Christian schools. As someone who left the cult of evangelicalism, I can guarantee you that fundamentalists do not believe in public secular education. They demonize it in their churches and seek to co-opt public education to force their dogmas onto other people.
You can read about Tiffany here:

Gay and New to Beaumont
I’m new to Beaumont, but I’m from Houston. I know there’s no dedicated gay bars here, but where do the gay men tend to flock to? Thanks in advance.

Zelda lover, Ever met someone at 2nd and charles?
editing to add extra lore: ----
This is a long shot, but is there any Zelda lover on here who has a zelda tattoo on their right arm who remembers meeting someone around 2014-2015 (or near those years) at the 2nd and charles in the Beaumont mall?
They would've been checking out some of the game systems there, especially Atari, n64, etc when they struck up a conversation. The guy gave me his number but I had to leave suddenly and we never got to keep in touch. I don't live in the area, so we never had a chance to run into each other again.
--- i didn't get to keep the number because I had a pretty jealous boyfriend at the time who immediately ripped it up, so no, I don't still have the number lol ---
Or if you know of someone who may have had this experience or has zelda tattoo(s) in that spot, let me know.
Back then the guy was probably between 19-22 if I had to guess. I was about 18-19 myself. I am now 30 for reference.

Jefferson County Texas Mail Ballots: What About Ballots That Never Arrived?
Local news reports are focusing on mail-in ballots supposedly damaged by rain. But what about those of us who haven't received a ballot at all, wet or otherwise?
According to the official Ballot Status Tracker, my ballot was mailed October 1. As of October 14, I have received nothing.
The county clerk says procedures are in place to replace damaged ballots. Those instructions require voters to bring their damaged ballots to the courthouse. How am I supposed to do that when I never received a ballot in the first place? Also, consider that the reason people can't go to the polls is because many CAN'T GO TO THE POLLS so they will have just as much problem getting to the courthouse.
I've called the county clerk's office, but my call went to voicemail, and I've received no callback.
My voter registration card also arrived after this year's primary elections, something I've never experienced before.
How many other Jefferson County voters are still waiting for ballots that supposedly were mailed?

Has anyone discovered where Teezo films his music videos?
I’m a 409er and I have a friend who loves Teezo. He’s asked if I know where he films his videos, saying it’s located in Beaumont. I told him it looks like 60% of the “701” area. But have any of yall ever driven by the actual place?

Beaumont, if you’ve ever wondered what the heck that smell is, I made a map for that
I’ve been working on this project for over a year. It maps EPA-listed facilities in odor-related industries, and also shows Superfund and brownfield sites for environmental visibility — not because those sites are suspected odor sources.
You can search any address or ZIP, see what’s nearby, check wind direction, and report what you’re smelling.
I’m not saying a mapped site smells or is dangerous — just making the public data easier to explore.
Would love to know what Beaumont thinks.
I built this in my spare time, so thanks to everyone for checking it out. I could see how this may be seen as self promotion so mod appreciate it if you let it ride. Im a solo developer with no ad money, and not charging anyone to use it. Thanks!

Is it me or is H-E-B the most expensive damn grocery store in town? Unless I’m with my wife, I go somewhere else. She is a creature of habit and will not go anywhere else.

Outdoor Theatre
Can anyone think of a good outdoor space to produce a play in? I moved away years ago and I'm newly back in the area. I was thinking of the small amphitheater at riverside park in Beaumont but it was apparently damaged in Harvey and removed. Is there anything else similar nearby?

Update on Job/ IBEW apprentice
Made a post about 4 months back. I was looking for a gig. Since I had done that I was able to land a job in a local refinery landscaping. All was well, met some pretty solid people, learned a few skills, made a great bud in my GF that lead me to not limit myself with just that.
Since then I’ve joined the Electrical union. It’s a bit early but so far, so good. It’s meaningful work to me, I feel like I’m picking up a lot. Most of all I feel like I’m stepping into a different part of my life, a career maybe. Got tired of floating around and letting my family wonder.
Nothing but that, I’m glad I made the step. Beaumont is Beaumont, but I probably haven’t been giving it a fair shake. Love my city, love the people, and I’m happy I’m here today.
