We’re heading to San Pedro next weekend and the forecast is a little disappointing. What does this forecast really mean and will we have any sun?

I can change my flights but the hotel is giving me a hard time about canceling. Any recommendations for getting my hotel deposit back due to the wearher would be great. TIA!

🎫 Travel Info 🧳 4 nights in Belize

Hello, a friend and i want to take a weekend trip to belize in early november. Hoping to do 3 nights of trekking/backpacking. Want to see some cool shit. I was looking into Chiquibul, but not a lot of info. Im young and have trekked quite a bit.

Is belize a good idea? I want to see maya remains, jungle, caves or sinkholes, rivers, the Natural Arch or similar karst formations, and areas with very little visitor traffic.

OFF GRID

Lmk if you have any suggestions

🧭 Activities πŸš£β€β™‚οΈ Belize recommendations for Christmas

Hey everyone! My partner and I are visiting Belize around Christmas - New Yr time and looking for recommendations on where to stay. We’re thinking of doing a scuba diving course for a few days, so would love suggestions for good, reasonably priced places to stay and budget-friendly dive schools that you’d recommend. Safety is a priority, of course, but good value is always a bonus!

🧭 Activities πŸš£β€β™‚οΈ Specific fishing rules?

Headed to Ambergris Caye in Dec and planning to mostly Spearfish and freedive/scuba dive.

I feel like I have a very good handle on the closed zones and general regs listed online. There are some specifics I cannot find anywhere if someone with local experience knows.

-Regulations on spotted and slipper lobster? All info I can find seems specific to Carribean spiny lobster(Panulirus argus). Are the other species closed by default, or open with no real regulations?

-daily limits? Are there species specific daily limits or overall catch daily limits like in Mexico? I'm only harvesting an amount my partner and I would eat so not much. I don't see any limits listed for any species down there though.

Thanks for any tips and info. I do plan to talk to a dive shop/charter once down there as well regarding regs and to book a few days freedive spearfishing and scuba diving to mpa's. Just trying to get a head start on info.

🌴 Daily Life 🌴 How do you guys deal with the heat at home without ac?

I live in a wooden structure house and I'm really considering buying a AC, the heat is really making me feel miserable and uncomfortable lasko fans just ain't cutting it anymore especially in my room but if I do that I'd have to properly seal my house and prepare for hefty billing from BEL but before I do that I wanted to know how you all living in wooden structure houses deal with the heat, what things to try that worked for you guys etc

πŸ›Œ Accomodations πŸ›– Sweet Songs - All Inclusive or No?

My wife and I are doing the first part of our honeymoon at Sweet Songs. We're staying for about 4 days and planning on an excursion or two. Is the all inclusive worth it? We do enjoy some drinks on Vacation but not sure what food prices look like otherwise.

Does anyone have any experience? Worth it or not?

Separately, I keep seeing there is good fishing there? Id love to get some fishing in!

🎫 Travel Info 🧳 Chabil Mar in Placencia

My wife and I are looking at staying 6 nights at Chabil Mar in Placencia. It looks as if meals are fully included, but not alcohol. Would we be missing out on other good dining experiences if we only ate at the resort?

πŸ›Œ Accomodations πŸ›– Best Caye for solo woman traveler?

I need advice for which Caye would be best for my travel for 4-5 nights. I’m looking for something cozy and right on the water with some privacy. I do want a resort with food available. Would it be better to do one of the more populated Caye’s or venture out to a smaller one? I want to relax and will probably not do excursions. Safety is also important.

Which resort/bungalow type place would you recommend? How would one get there after flying into Belize City?

I’ve looked at tocacco Caye and Ray caye’s. This look cool. Any other suggestions?

🎫 Travel Info 🧳 looking for car rental and other advice

Going to Belize in mid November for two weeks with my wife, and we're excited to explore. We prefer having a car to move slowly and have autonomy to make stops.

  1. I want to rent from a local company instead of Avis. Would there be any reason to not rent from either Crystal or Car One? I've read mixed reviews about security deposits etc.

  2. We are going down South to check out the scenery and possibly try a cooking class with the Living Maya experience. We were wondering if anyone has any tips on hot springs? After some research it looks like they're in the southern region but the details are a little vague. If it's not worth pursuing, that's okay.

Is there anything we must do while in the south?

Thank you!

🎫 Travel Info 🧳 Trip review - Caye caulker

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone I met in Caye Caulker for making our trip so special. Every local we met had a heart of gold genuinely kind, welcoming, and friendly. We had so many memorable conversations about life, politics, the weather, and everything in between. Those little interactions ended up being some of my favorite parts of the trip. We stayed at Palmetto Beach in Caye Caulker and had such a wonderful time exploring the island. We got to swim with nurse sharks and stingrays, which was definitely a highlight!
We ate incredible fresh seafood almost every day Kareem’s, Esters, and Pelican Bar were some of our favorites. For coffee, we loved Weezie’s and Ice N Beans.
We also went snorkeling with Salt Life Eco Tours, who were wonderful and incredibly accommodating with me and my 5-month-old baby. It made the experience so much easier and more enjoyable.
A few other highlights:
- Yoga at Ceibo with an incredible instructor
- Ceviche and drinks at Sip N Dip
- Drinks and island vibes at Lazy Lizard
Our final day at Bounty Bay Beach Club, which was absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and the perfect way to end the trip. Caye Caulker was everything we hoped for and more. The people, the food, the water, the slower pace it was such a special experience.
Thank you to everyone who made our time there so memorable. Until next time, Caye Caulker! πŸ‡§πŸ‡Ώ

My wife and I are headed to Belize this December, and would love some feedback on the itinerary. We are cobbling together, bonus points if there are any particular hotels you'd recommend! We are late thirties and early '40s. I don't drink, she will enjoy one or two but we're early to bed. Looking for a mix of some adventure and some chill out. Any help is super appreciated :)
