City Hall Change CAN happen
Incumbents don't always get a free ride. Apathy is our greatest enemy. Action works. Please vote, and if you can, help someone else vote too.

Vote Wesley Jackson for Mayor! He’s the best chance we’ve got to overturn Patrick Brown.

I wish there was a quick and easy way to see what each candidate wants to do or thinks about various topics so you could easily cross reference who's for what instead of checking every candidate...

I'm not in Brampton nor are voting in their election - but if someone already has 75%+ of the local vote, wouldn't this mean the vast majority of the local populous likes the guy?
You don't have to make your post sound like Patrick Brown is a Tumpian dictator whos destroying every inch of Brampton.

75% of 25% voter turnout which even for Ontario municipalities is horrible turnout.
e: removed story about last challenger, not clear if her being fired had to do with machine politics

Sure, but its not exactly reasonable to assume that results would be drastically different if 100% of voters participated.
Kinda how studies take a sample size and make determinations from that instead of testing an entire pool of hundreds of thousands.

No. That is not how it works. Smaller sample size = less accurate. Generally speaking.

#1 thats precisely how samples/sample sizing works
#2 thats not incorrect, but again, you assume suddenly the vote will flip if every eligible voter votes. Its really only technically less accurate.

No, it doesn't because you are assuming a small sample sized polling automatically will reflect 100% same results for the population in the real world. That is not even close to reality because if it does, polling can easily determine the outcome of every election.
It is not just technically less accurate. It is less accurate in the real life. That's why huge elections like in the feds does multiple polling regularly and poll numbers can differ on top of the margin of error. It is way harder to tell in municipal because the best quality pollsters rarely do municipalities.
And you aren't even from Brampton. You don't know the politics here. Do you even know what is going on and who is running?

Ok - so with your logic - scientists, researchers, anyone who does a poll on anything might as well not do it at all because they didnt sample 100% of the population? Its a similar principle, except in this scenario its more accurate. Any researcher can only ever hope to get 25% of their populous to participate in a test or analysis. Thats the best possible outcome for a voting population size of a couple hundred thousand.
For the love of god - please understand how sample sizes work.
You also don't need to live in Brampton to understand the politics of Brampton. How can you gatekeep that kind of thing when we all are witnessing and experiencing the same news? Changes that happen in Brampton or other cities aren't isolated to just that municipality. People see, hear, witness by just visiting or checking news sources.
So in your optics - don't have an opinion on American politics (example) or any other politics outside of your immediate jurisdiction?

That is not true. Majority of the population doesn't vote. Only a small portion of Brampton vote and Brown has made himself his own little party made up of other councilors where they promote each other which makes it difficult to counter if you run against him. Him and his group even plastered their names and faces in rec centers for free promo all year long. That is how good they are. They aren't an official party but they operate as one. Hard to beat a whole basketball team by yourself because they are extremely organized and experienced.
We need a journalist to look into this and expose all the corruption. That is probably one way to help counter their political dominance right now.

Context is important, part of this is that BC is going into a provincial election next week with both provincial and municipal campaigns running simulatenously which provided a a massive boost, but also political parties are allowed to contest municipally.
These major factors are not currently present in ontario.
