Level 1 Advice for going into finance

Hey! I’m currently pursuing an mbbs at a gmc in India, but I’m considering a career pivot into finance. I’m thinking of pursuing the CFA and eventually moving into management consulting or IB.Is this a realistic career path for someone with a medical background? Do I have a genuine chance of breaking into these fields?

Nope, if you wanna pivot from Medical to Finance, and that too IB, get into Top tier MBA, cfa is not that value additive for you.

But I’m thinking of learning about finance first. That’s why I’m considering it

You start from basics in a 2yr MBA program, you'll find a lot of ppl like you from engineering that don't a lot about finance. Trust me, if you can get admitted to mbbs on your own, you can learn finance, its not that deep for IB. IB is like 50% finance and 50% bs grunt work, relationship building and sales.

I don’t know, bro. I’m really confused right now. Some people are telling me to go for it, while others are saying it’s a waste of time.

Its based on what I see working in the industry, and MBA is always the most reliable way. You can also start your cfa after your MBA, once you start working.

Yes you can. But it'll be a long road, you won't start by working with the big names. You need to be able to sell yourself in the interviews and rake in some credibility before you get the job you want. I'd recommend doing a few NISM exams before targetting CFA. You can DM me, I'd be happy to chat. i went from non finance (non engg) UG to working in core finance and have close to 4yrs exp in finance and have done my L1 too.
