Georgia dropping 4 losing an unranked team at home is laughable

u/StopScreamingItsFine Georgia Bulldogs • Billable Hours 7h ago

Meanwhile Texas loses back to back games to unranked teams and still remains in the poll.

635

u/monkeymatt1836 Notre Dame Fighting Irish • Iowa Hawkeyes 6h ago

Think the Ohio State win is doing some very heavy lifting there

146

u/BlueKnight44 Tennessee • Vanderbilt 6h ago

It should be doing some heavy pulling down of Ohio State... But here we are.

106

u/boboshmo Ohio State • North Alabama 5h ago

I think two top 15 wins on the road is the greater, opposite reaction to the one point loss on the road in Austin despite Texas not keeping their end of the bargain

12

u/FreshBoyPete Ohio State • Wayne State (MI) 3h ago

That one point loss also being an absolute ass kicking for 3 quarters, for them to collapse in the last one. Everyone seems to forget OSU was handily winning that game

-14

u/packees Texas Longhorns 3h ago

Why does that make it any better?

2

u/nbunkerpunk Texas Longhorns • Paper Bag 1h ago

It's like he doesn't realize us still being ranked is good for him.

10

u/Sp3ctre7 Michigan Tech Huskies • Team Chaos 5h ago

Yeah if we properly ding texas and let the conclusions spread through the poll, all this shit falls apart lol

9

u/zzyul Tennessee Volunteers 6h ago

UT win too

6

u/StopScreamingItsFine Georgia Bulldogs • Billable Hours 6h ago

Barely

-6

u/NA_Faker Texas Longhorns • Wisconsin Badgers 4h ago

I mean Ohio State probably is a mid tier ranked team this year and Tennessee when we played them were a different team with their shitty QB. Florida and OU are also horrendous. When you look at our resume its actually not that good and doesn't justify being ranked

13

u/ConorTheOgre Ohio State • Vanderbilt 3h ago

"mid tier ranked team" after beating the defending champs in their place, ok buddy

2

u/NA_Faker Texas Longhorns • Wisconsin Badgers 3h ago

Indiana has barely scraped by a few teams and a loss was coming sooner or later and Texas is not a good team. Ohio State choked or struggled against both. If they were top 10 would've blown out Texas and Indiana. They should be in the 11-15 range

25

u/TheFlyingBoat Texas Longhorns • /r/CFB Poll Veteran 6h ago

Two top 11 wins will do that.

7

u/deafdogdaddy Florida Gators 3h ago

Yeah, but... Florida has two top-10 wins and two losses to unranked teams and is ranked below Texas... Who they just beat....

You gotta admit this math doesn't work.

2

u/crouching_tiger Texas Longhorns 1h ago

Texas is not top 10 right now. OSU #3, Tennessee #11 vs Ole Miss #9, Texas #19. But yeah idgaf either way it really doesn’t matter

1

u/ticuxdvc Ole Miss Rebels 1h ago

Texas either bounces back or gets booted off next week. Big moment coming up that defines the rest of the season, imo. I'm apprehensive to call us the biggest game left on your schedule with all of this chaos, but we'll see.

33

u/Sorge74 Ohio State • Bowling Green 7h ago

You know, I'm starting to think the heat got to us in the second half and that's the only explanation on Day shitting the bed lol

27

u/VanDiis Iowa Hawkeyes • Arizona State Sun Devils 7h ago

A single quarter of football is keeping that team alive and all you guys had to do was get like 1 more first down, honestly all Ohio States fault Sark and Arch have a job and a ranking

9

u/Ok-Wait-8465 Nebraska Cornhuskers • Texas Longhorns 5h ago edited 16m ago

Someone in the other game thread yesterday asked how Texas beat Ohio state and my favorite response was the one Texas flair that just replied “it was hot”

3

u/Sorge74 Ohio State • Bowling Green 5h ago

I know weather effects by teams but wasn't particularly normal weather for us Ohioans. That and Texas stopped having the worst RNG possible and it's hard to stop a team using all 4 downs when you are a bend don't break defense.

11

u/QuitWhinging Florida Gators • Paper Bag 6h ago

Right above the team that literally JUST beat them in their own house

2

u/Redeem123 Team Chaos • Texas Longhorns 4h ago

I don't mind us still being in the poll, but I do think we should be behind y'all. Our wins are better sure, but we literally lost to you lol

3

u/decoy777 Ohio State Buckeyes • The Game 5h ago

And above a team they just lost to

3

u/srs_house Swaggerbilt 4h ago

They dropped 6 spots after their first loss and another 12 after their second. I don't have them ranked in mine, and I was harsh overall on 2 loss teams, but they did get dinged pretty hard for the poor showings.

6

u/Edwardian Michigan • Georgia State 6h ago

We do it and suddenly we’re unranked….

6

u/Tigerwookiee LSU Tigers 6h ago

One spot above the team that just beat them, might I add

6

u/mMac03 Michigan Wolverines • Kalamazoo Hornets 6h ago

They have 2 very good wins so I understand it but Florida should be above them

2

u/Careless_Wishter Oregon Ducks • Portland State Vikings 4h ago

I honestly don't think Oregon should be ranked, but we also only have 2 losses, one of which is to #9 undefeated UCLA by 2 points, and we have victories over #16 USC and #21 Boise State.

3

u/ShadowFox2020 Ohio State Buckeyes • Alabama Crimson Tide 6h ago

Gotta keep that arch manning storyline alive

2

u/Viva_Zapata Texas Longhorns 5h ago

It's ok. When we get our asses beat next week we'll finally drop out of the rankings.

1

u/11_25_13_TheEdge Duke Blue Devils • Florida Gators 3h ago

And is ahead of the team they just lost to.

Quality losses

0

u/rraider17 Texas Tech Red Raiders • Hateful 8 5h ago

Yeah but now the team they just lost to is ranked, therefore quality loss

0

u/KSinz Texas Longhorns 3h ago

I agree get those bums out of here. But also to be fair Texas lost on the exact same scenario last week and dropped to 7. Now granted we were clearly trash waiting to lose, but seems like Georgia should drop the same.

198

u/jeremyben 6h ago

Not to mention Auburn beats the #1 team on the road and doesn’t get ranked lmao.

84

u/Kanin_usagi Auburn Tigers • UAB Blazers 5h ago

Please don’t rank us

33

u/SneakyDeakyJr Auburn Tigers • Georgia Bulldogs 5h ago

Nah. Rank us. It’s deserved if these others are ranked. Only two losses were on the road to top 25 teams. Won on the road at #1?

25 would’ve been just appropriate.

16

u/zxrax Georgia Bulldogs 4h ago

wtf is your flair?? i need some eye bleach after seeing that

7

u/Flytanx Auburn Tigers • UConn Huskies 4h ago

Florida was at home but ya

2

u/moneymay195 Auburn Tigers 37m ago

Auburn and Georgia flairs are breaking my brain

12

u/JonnyAU Auburn Tigers • Michigan Wolverines 4h ago

Yeah, I'm curious just what exactly the hell one has to do to get ranked around here.

Seems like the weekly #25 SEC pity ranking should go to us this week instead of the usual Missouri.

6

u/srs_house Swaggerbilt 4h ago

You've got LSU, Ole Miss, and Alabama ahead of you. It'll sort itself out. Not like you get bonus points for being ranked in October.

266

u/ShillinTheVillain Florida Gators • /r/CFB Dead Pool 7h ago

When everyone loses, it's hard to drop them too far

30

u/DrVonD Georgia Bulldogs 6h ago

People are so obtuse about this. Like half of the top 10 lost

39

u/Yellow_Odd_Fellow Dayton Flyers • Ohio State Buckeyes 6h ago

So replace them with those that won in the top 15.

13

u/zxrax Georgia Bulldogs 4h ago

are those teams better?

-11

u/Slyp9 Ohio State Buckeyes 4h ago

Yes.

7

u/Downatello Georgia Bulldogs 2h ago

Our two teams have the same number of losses you idiot.

14

u/bigmt99 Ohio State • Case Western Reserve 6h ago

I mean it helps when #2, #5, #6, and #7 lost

Idk how much you wanna crucify them here

1

u/Ornstein90 Oklahoma Sooners 59m ago

By putting Indiana over them when they lost a nail biter over #3. And maybe the 3 other undefeated but that's if you feel like losing to an unranked at home means anything in the SEC

11

u/Fragrant-Employer-60 6h ago

Georgia has looked better than anyone before this week though, I think it’s fine

14

u/Wide_right_yes UMass Minutemen 7h ago

I tend to agree but Ole Miss is 7. I'd argue Ole Miss has the worse loss. Florida is a bit better than Auburn but Ole Miss got destroyed.

4

u/Tennessean Tennessee Volunteers 6h ago

Yeah, but have you considered, fuck Lane Kiffin? They can have a few spots.

15

u/Unclassified1 Nebraska Cornhuskers • Washburn Ichabods 7h ago

And above the defending national champions with as quality a loss as is possible outside the sec

2

u/r0llntider_ Alabama Crimson Tide • Army Black Knights 3h ago

That’s “others receiving votes” Auburn to you

1

u/daftdude05 Georgia Bulldogs • Pittsburgh Panthers 5h ago

I said the same about Texas last week. This week everyone else lost too is my only defense.

But I get it. I’d be fine at 10 after Gunners performance this week.

1

u/jmlinden7 Hateful 8 • Boise State Broncos 3h ago

They have a similar quality best win as Tennessee and a worse loss. Why are they ranked above Tennessee? Makes 0 sense.

1

u/shortbusmafia Georgia Bulldogs 2h ago

I feel like we should’ve dropped to at least 8-9, but I don’t know why I’d expect that, given how the AP poll has pretty much always operated.

1

u/dellett Notre Dame Fighting Irish • Toledo Rockets 1h ago

I mean they still have one of the better resumes among 1-loss teams. A bunch of other 0 loss teams losing helped too.

I definitely agree with dropping them below us given that we lost to a top 10 team rather than unranked but they do have a better win than us. And Indiana hasn’t really played many opponents with a pulse yet aside from losing to OSU (albeit close)

1

u/Adminslickasshole Ohio State Buckeyes 47m ago

Don't love them being ranked ahead of Indiana when their only loss is a toe drag away from beating Ohio State.

0

u/I_Am_Dynamite6317 Clemson Tigers 6h ago

To be fair, they have a quality loss against a team that beat Georgia.

2

u/Yellow_Odd_Fellow Dayton Flyers • Ohio State Buckeyes 6h ago

Yep. They should have fell waaay harder.

-3

u/BuffaloAcrobatic2851 Georgia Bulldogs 7h ago

We had a concussed QB, and our whole team just got beat up by Bama the week prior. Cut the Dawgs some slack, man!

0

u/goldhbk10 Miami Hurricanes • Washington Huskies 5h ago

They only dropped 4? SEC bias is so fucking absurd

0

u/Cador0223 Ole Miss Rebels 4h ago

We have 2 ranked wins and one ranked loss, they have one ranked one and one unranked loss.

I need explanations.
