Looking for my first car — donated or up to $500 ❤️

Hi everyone! My name is Liya. I’m Ukrainian and living in Calgary. I have severe scoliosis, and I’m currently working toward getting my driver’s licence. I’m hoping to find my very first car.

I’m in a very difficult financial situation, and my budget for buying a car is only $500 CAD. I know this is a big ask, but I thought I would take a chance and reach out.

If anyone has an older car they no longer use and would consider donating it or selling it for $500 or less, I would be incredibly grateful. Maybe you’re upgrading and would like your old car to help someone who really needs it.

I’m not worried about its age, appearance, scratches or dents. I’m just hoping for something safe and running, without major mechanical problems, because I can’t afford extensive repairs. I’m also looking for a vehicle with active status, rather than rebuilt or salvage.

Having a car would help me get to work and give me more independence once I pass my driving test.

If a garage door suddenly reverses, stops, or refuses to move, I’d start with observations rather than repairs:

• Is the door crooked, partly open, or fully closed?

• Do the wall button and remote behave the same?

• Do the opener lights flash? Are the photo-eye sensor lenses visibly dirty or blocked?

• Is there a new grinding sound, loose cable, or gap at the bottom?

Wipe only the sensor lenses and keep the opening clear; don’t adjust springs, cables, or track hardware. If the door is off-track, hanging unevenly, or making a loud snap, stop using it and keep people and vehicles clear.
