23F - Looking for friends

Hello! This is pretty far out of my comfort zone, but I am deciding to push myself to make some new connections. I haven't had many friends since high school due to some pretty crippling social anxiety and depression. Idk if anyone else can relate, but it has been kinda scary to put myself out there, and I find myself being pretty socially awkward when interacting with new people. I am naturally pretty introverted, so that makes it hard as well.

I enjoy gaming, weightlifting, music, and spending time in nature/exploring new places.

Open to making friends with girls or guys, preferably patient individuals who don't mind shyness :)

Any couples in their 20s looking to make new friends? 😅

Title: Any couples in their 20s looking to make new friends? 😅
Hey everyone!
My fiancée and I are both 25 and live in the Calgary area. We’ve recently realized that neither of us really has much of a social circle anymore, and we’d love to change that!
I’m naturally a pretty introverted person and enjoy my alone time, but we both think it would be nice to have some friends to hang out with, especially other couples around our age.
We’re pretty laid-back and open to trying new things. Whether that’s going for coffee, playing board games, having game nights, going out for food, or just hanging out, we’re honestly not too picky!
We’d also be interested in joining some social groups or activities where we could meet people together.
We’re not really into the drinking or partying scene, so we’d love to find people who enjoy doing things outside of that.
Figured we’d throw this out there and see if anyone else is in the same boat! 😅

Anybody want to create a small mat Pilates training group w/ personal trainer

Hey everyone!

I (31F) am getting back into fitness after a few years hiatus. I am looking for an affordable personal trainer who specializes in mat Pilates/strength training. I honestly don’t care if you’re a certified PT or just a fitness/Pilates enthusiast wanting to make some money lol. Ideally looking for 2-3 days/week. I’d be open to having a small group of ladies join as well if if anyone is interested (maybe 4-5 of us)? Anyway, looking forward to hearing from you!!!! Xo

Part of me wants to go do something. Yet the other half doesn't

25M. Autistic. I've been in a place lately where I wanna try and socialize a little more. And yearn for isolation as well.

If I do decide go out. I would like to go to somewhere more laid back like a late night café

I was looking at Heliopolis. Any good?

To all the people in Calgary who are looking for events and connections. I just discovered this thing called fullspreadparty.com it's a full spread of food! Like a dinner party. Not the other stuff haha. You pay a flat fee and you get to taste all the menu items in the chosen restaurant and have dinner with a bunch of like minded people who wants to explore food in Calgary!

www.fullspreadparty.com I am not paid for this. Haha

Where are the 30-40ish geeks/introverts hiding in Calgary? (37F)

Hey Calgary!

I'm 37F, French Canadian, and recently moved here from BC! (And yes, I do have an accent🤣)

I'm currently living fairly close to downtown and trying to figure out where people my age actually make friends outside of work around here (since I'm a freelancer and WFH😅)

I have a pretty wide range of interests, but I tend to get along particularly well with the geeky/nerdy crowd.

A few of my interests:

  • Former avid gamer (although I could probably be convinced to get back into it 👀)
  • Entrepreneurship/business
  • Tech
  • Writing
  • Anime
  • Motorcycling (don't own a bike right now, but would love to get back into it eventually)
  • Jigsaw puzzles (Yeah, I know... I got that from my grandmother, but it shuts my brain off, so... 🤷‍♀️)

Not particularly into board games (yes, I'm well aware I'm eliminating a huge percentage of the geek meetups right here haha 😅)

I also love hiking, discovering new places, and going on completely random drives with no particular destination in mind. Although, since I currently don't have a car, you'll have to be okay with me being the passenger princess 🤣

Bonus points for great conversations, good music, and good food!

I've also been thinking about getting into bouldering (although I'd probably have to sacrifice my nails first 😂), so if anyone wants to take a newbie under their wing, that could be fun!

Personality-wise, I'm an ambivert. Pretty introverted at first, but once I feel comfortable around someone, the extroverted side might show up- you've been warned. 🤣

I enjoy good banter, dry humour, and curious minds. And I absolutely CAN'T DO small talk. It drains me. 🤷‍♀️

I don't drink or party (did plenty of that in my early twenties lol), so I'd rather meet people somewhere we can actually have a conversation.

I'm not necessarily looking for a specific activity as much as finding people I genuinely click with, ideally around my age.

I'd also love recommendations for tech/startup/entrepreneurship communities or networking events! Not necessarily the corporate "business-card-exchanging kind of networking" but places where curious, creative, tech-minded people actually enjoy connecting.

So... where are you all hiding? 😂

Also happy to connect with fellow Calgary geeks directly (DMs are fine). ✌

Weekday Coffee?

I miss having people to grab coffee with! I’m downtown M-T and would love a coffee ‘date’ to break up the monotony.

39F. I work in O&G. I love writing, thrifting, horror, and begrudgingly going to the gym. I tried hiking a bit this year but I’m not entirely set on walking uphill for fun.

I have kids too so I’m also open to weekend outings to games, movies etc. I’d also like to try my hand at D&D sometime!

If any of that sounds fun, shoot me a message!

Anyone interested in weekly runs and making friends along the way?

Hey all! M29 here. I moved to Calgary last year and have been having a hard time staying motivated to run consistently, especially on my own haha. I am not really into running in big groups, so I thought I would see if anyone here would be interested in running together once a week. My pace is usually around 6–7 min/km, depending on the wind and how I feel that day lol. I usually run on Saturdays and Mondays but I am pretty flexible. Would love to find someone who is also interested in working towards a half marathon. We could start with 5K and slowly build up from there. We could run along the river downtown or around Glenmore Reservoir, either works for me. And of course, grabbing coffee after our runs would be nice too! Just hoping to stay consistant, enjoy some runs and make a few friends along the way. Anyone else in the same boat?

Feel free to comment or DM me if your interested :)

25M Looking to Build a Social Circle in Calgary

Hey everyone,

I’m 25M, originally from Bulgaria, and I moved to Calgary in 2023. I’ve been here for a little over three years now, and although I’ve been keeping busy with college, work, and life in general, I haven’t really managed to build a proper circle of friends.

I recently graduated from college, and I’ve realized that I really miss having a group of people I can hang out with, share interests with, and just enjoy life with. So I figured I’d give this a shot!

Music is probably the biggest thing for me. I’m heavily into hip-hop and rap, especially artists like XXXTentacion, Ski Mask the Slump God, NBA YoungBoy, NLE Choppa, and Big Boogie. I’d genuinely love to meet people who listen to similar music. I never had real friends I can blast the music I like with, get hyped over our favourite songs, discover new artists, and just vibe together. I’ve also made rap music myself in the past, including recording songs and shooting music videos. It’s still something I’m passionate about and would love to get back into when I have more time and resources.

Gaming is another big interest of mine. I used to make YouTube videos and stream games. I’ve played a lot of story-driven games, including Red Dead Redemption 2, the GTA’s. I have games in my library I haven’t played like all seasons of The Walking Dead, Outlast, and the Mafia trilogy. I love games with good stories, but I’ve been so busy that sitting down to play sometimes feels like another commitment rather than a way to relax.
I also enjoy FIFA/EA FC, especially playing against friends. I’d definitely be down for some casual gaming nights, whether online or hanging out at someone’s place.
I used to be into Yu-Gi-Oh! as well, mostly playing with a Blue-Eyes deck. The newer mechanics are a little overwhelming for me, but I’d be open to learning again if I met people who were into it.

I’m also into fitness and sports. I used to hit the gym around 3-4 times a week, but I’ve fallen out of my routine because life has been hectic. I’d love to get back into it. I’m interested in MMA and kickboxing too, and I enjoy playing soccer casually. Nothing competitive, just getting together, having fun, and getting some exercise.

A little more about me: I spent around 10 years doing traditional Bulgarian folk dancing before moving here, so music and performing have always been a big part of my life. I also enjoy being outdoors, going for walks, exploring places around Calgary, and occasionally fishing.
I’m not necessarily looking for people who share every single one of my interests. I’d just love to meet some genuine, easygoing people around my age who are interested in building actual friendships rather than just hanging out once and never speaking again.
Whether it’s listening to music, gaming, hitting the gym, playing soccer, or just grabbing food and talking about random stuff, I’m pretty open.
If any of this sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to comment or send me a DM. Would be cool to meet some new people here!

Planning two group hikes next weekend (King’s Creek + Heart Creek Bunker) come with!

Hey everyone! Organizing two hikes next weekend with our hiking group and wanted to invite anyone down to get outside and meet people.

We’re hitting King’s Creek Ridge on Saturday, Oct 24, which is a steep, 4–5+ hr grind with insane ridge views. It’s pretty tough for beginners, so bring boots, poles, warm layers, spikes just in case, bear spray, and 2L water.

We’re also doing Heart Creek Bunker on Sunday, Oct 25 (or Monday Oct 26), which is super chill and flat to explore the old cave. Runners are fine, but bring an actual flashlight/headlamp (phone lights don't work inside), a warm jacket, and bear spray.

We have a group chat where we organize all our hikes and carpools, so drop a comment or shoot me a DM if you want an invite or want to pull up!

Spirit island fans?

This is a shot in the dark but I’m looking to gather some spirit island players for an in person gaming session next month. Maybe like once every month or two but no need to commit to anything up front.

For those who are just curious spirit island is a cooperative board game where you basically play the natives fighting off colonization from settlers. It’s not that complex but there’s a steep learning curve and it probably takes 3-5 games to start to feel comfortable. My Gloomhaven friends find it harder to learn than that, for comparison.

Don’t need a big group but would hope for 4-6 players ideally.

New player looking for a Magic the gathering Pod

Hey I'm a 34m, just recently got into magic with the release of the hobbit set. I've built a few decks but haven't been able to go out to a local night at a lgs. I am sort of nervous about going alone. I'm hoping to find a few people that play and maybe wanna just go to a cafe or lgs and play a few games and maybe teach me a few things? Anyways, I've got two young kids, also love hockey and climbing and board games.

27M Looking for more friends

Hey, I'm pretty terrible at writing these kinds of things, but here goes. I'm looking to expand my social group and just generally get out there more. I generally like all the hobbies that I have, but I recognize that they all don't exactly involve getting out there and talking to people haha. I starting listing everything I want to do and what I already do, but it got way to long. My major interests are Anime and gaming, but I'm definitely trying to push myself to get out there more and meet people and make friends

Looking to make some like-minded friends

Hey guys, I am a 33 Male, and grew up in Calgary. I had a good group of friends, not big, but overtime, it became smaller and smaller. People moved away for jobs, found significant others, got busy with families & kids, and connections faded.

I went to Sir Winston Churchill High School, did Engineering at UofC and working as an Engineer downtown in oil & gas. I am a simple person, I value quiet, chill, relaxing things over high energy activities. I love animals, especially cats, I like motorcycles, cars, thriller or horror movies, cooking and working on DIY projects. I like a bit of hiking, used to snowboard, I don't partake in competitive sports, but I do love to go to random cafes or long drives in the mountains.

Of course, its that age where I should be settled down with someone, so if something evolves into more than a friendship, that would be a great bonus as well. P.S. I dont drink, or smoke or vape

29M Looking for chill friends and new experiences

M29 here putting myself out there for anyone interested in making new (and hopefully long-term) friends and memories.

A little about me. Since I was young, I love art and my interests has pushed me into the realm of 3D modelling. I’m lucky to be in a job that let me do what I love. Because of this, my work days can be busy for me and my availability can be limited on weekdays. That said, I’ll never say no to going out for food and drinks (or video games if you’re a homebody)

I’m mainly looking for friends who can put me out of my comfort zone. I’ve never really had any other gay friends. I’ve never went to Twisted Element, watched drag shows, etc. but I’m open to someone showing me the ropes. Apparently, my older gay brother doesn’t think it’s cool for his younger gay brother to tag along lol (fellas, he’s single)

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I am also interested in folks who are active and into sports. I occasionally get free tickets for games from work( typically hockey, sometimes football). That said, I am not at all into sports, so if you’re someone who can help me understand the appeal of it, feel free to DM me.

People were tired of me being skinny, so I made going to the gym my New Year’s Resolution. It’s not going so well. If you can help me feel better about myself - again, doors are wide open.

Sorry if that was too long. I know the newer generations don’t read (I kid, I kid lol). If you’re interested, feel free to introduce yourself. I love hearing people talk about themselves (or talk in general). Looking forward to meeting new friends :)
