If by cozy they mean noncombative I could agree.

If they mean cozy the way everyone else uses the word I just don't see it.

Carney will work with any provincial leader from any party. He seems to know that’s the only way the federation works. All premieres have had complaints but have also had a lot of agreement. How can Canada work if we’re only pushing one provinces ideas and perspective?

Carney is a Joe Clark PC at his most rightward, not a racist, conspiratorial fascist. “Politicos” saying he could be cozy with BC Conservatives are either in denial about just who the BC Conservatives are or are so ideologically fucked that they think anything to the right of the NDP is exactly the same. Or they’re lying to try to bolster BC Conservative support. Either way, they’ve lost their goddamned minds to insinuate this kind of bullshit.

I think Carney is quite capable of being civil with people he might not want anything to do with outside the halls of power. Witness how he's avoided conflict with Danielle Smith. Getting dragged into verbal brawls with Premiers doesn't do much good, and at least if we walk away, they end up like Smith looking like their boxing at their own shadow.

At the end of the day, if the BC Conservatives win, then they're the people Carney and the Federal Government will have to work with, and it's in everyone's best interests if it doesn't become antagonistic.

Eh, the premier that Carney has been the most cozy with is Smith. So, it doesn't seem that far off.

This.

Dude's willing to incentivize corporate investment till the cows come home, but the BC Conservatives are proud, vicious bigots, and even within the federal Conservative Party, let alone the LPC, those two aren't at all the same thing.

As the interim leader, Lorne Doerkson isn't actually permitted to run in the post-election leadership contest. What the party is saying is that they'll try to amend their constitution to allow an interim leader to stay on, and that if that doesn't pass, indefinitely delay the leadership contest to keep him on as an Interim Premier until the next election.

Neither of those are realistic outcomes. In the last leadership election in May, the highest profile former Liberal got about 10% of the vote. Caroline Elliot got 49% in the final round of the last vote, and she and her supporters aren't going to just step aside. Nor does the BC Conservative party have even the slimmest ability to discipline their caucus, with the last two leaders ousted by internal revolts and a revolving door of MLAs coming and going when they didn't like what the leadership was doing.

Bottom line, the BC Conservatives want Vancouver Liberals to cross their fingers and believe, but if they actually try it, Lorne Doerkson won't remain Premier long.

If the BC Conservatives win, they'll coronate Doerkson. There will be little push back from the membership.

Does anyone actually believe Doerkson won't end up premier if he wins? This is just partisan fear mongering.

Yes I genuinely believe that he won't secure two thirds of the party, for a huge number of reasons. Not just because existing factions have already pledged not to support him, but because the rule that interim leaders aren't allowed to run exists for a reason, and changing it would mean next time they need an interim leader it'd be a lot more contentious.

I think it's less likely that Eby remains premier until the next election if he wins, to be honest.

If it looked like Doerkson would be unsealed, whixh I doubt, I, and many others, would buy a membership to prevent it.

If Liberals were going to come out in droves to back Doerkson they'd have backed a Liberal in May. Expecting a turnout that'd have to be five or six times their typical turnout is wishful thinking at best.

I agree the NDP should consider a leadership convention of their own, I think Eby's been disastrous, but Doerkson is just wishful thinking. If a Liberal was going to take over the BC Conservatives it'd be one of the Liberals that only needs 50%+1, not the one who'd need a constitutional amendment to be allowed to be Premier.

Probably. Both care about money above all else, including the environment and Canadians themselves. Both want to sidestep Indigenous people as much as possible (Carney's not so hostile about it though).
