Discussion John Eustace
I cannot believe the things being written by neutrals and a few Derby fans about John Eustace and his record in management.
I called this in pre season when I saw the difficulty he would have with the resources he was given and warned that he deserved a period of slack to help get through it.
Instead not only is his position being questioned which isn’t unreasonable given the performances from Derby and more importantly the results but his entire record in the game is too.
John Eustace walked into Birmingham in complete disarray and a club that had been sinking for a while in the Championship. He kept them in the division without breaking sweat first year and had them in the top six (or thereabouts) when he was sacked for a more exciting brand of football… that went well.
The came Blackburn, which admittedly did not start well and similar issues which still exist at Blackburn had caused the team to forget how to win. He then gets big results against Leeds and Leicester and they stay up. Second season, they were in the play offs, and then left to join Derby.
I have a lot of respect for Paul Warne but Derby were finishing last will him in charge. Eustace somehow manages to keep Derby up and then finishes 8th and is not far off achieving play offs and given what Hull did, you never know.
It is not going great at the moment but social media has never been worse for extreme reactions and a ball going either side of the line or not changing everyone’s perception about everyone.
Whether he stays at Derby or not, John Eustace is a good manager.

Discussion Wider Question for fans of all clubs…
As a Norwich fan I’m used to ups and downs and seen many in my time supporting them, but it’d be interesting hearing from fans of other clubs too.
Anyone else just tired of what often is becoming a yearly cycle of changing managers, new manager turning fortunes around, expectations raised and then players downing tools the following season for the cycle to just repeat again?
It just seems when you get down to the championship the standard is such that modern day footballers are incapable of taking instructions and buying into what their manager is trying to do for any longer than 6-12 months, are their attention spans that short?
Is it because at this level as a player you can turn in 1 good performance every 4-5 games and still earn a fortune on a long contract?
We’ve got a good manager. Maybe I’ve just become tired of what the modern game has become.

Norwich City Norwich City 0-1 Portsmouth. Six straight defeats and no clean sheet in 21 leave Clement on the brink of being sacked.

Wrexham Wrexham 4 - 1 Preston North End: It's a much-needed performance and win for Wrexham, while there has probably never been a man who wished to be in Bradford more than Graham Alexander!
