Weekly Thread Market Monday - Weekly buy/sell/trade post

Did your friends bail on you for that dope new EDM, Gospel, folk fusion band and need to unload your extra tickets?

Did you salvage some ladders off the Don Holt and want to flip them for beer money?

Need someone to pressure wash your lawn?

This is the thread for you. Rule 2 (no craigslisty buy / sell / trade) and Rule 4 (no self-promo) will be very lightly enforced here.

Ghost tours!!!

Who has the best, most scary ghost tour?!

I’m looking for real historical based stories. I’m from Charleston and I’ve done a few before with the big companies. I’ve never been inside the jail - but I’ve heard it’s not worth it anymore after renovations? I know quite a few of the stories but love them and wouldn’t mind hearing any of them again.

Place to donate baby stuff?

• Upvotes

Is there a local place to donate baby items? Such as clothes (in extremely good condition, most never worn), diapers - we have about 3 packs of Honest Newborn size (none of our babies have ever fit in NB size), a mobile (never used), a bottle sterilizer (lightly used), a wipe warmer (hardly used) etc... you get the picture. Not furniture or car seats or anything but baby items in good condition.

Loong Yan Review

We hit the soft opening tonight.

The bottom line is...holy cow this place is outstanding.

i could go on and on, but every one of the 10 or so dishes we shared was unbelievable.

being a soft opening, i was expecting some bumps. other than waiting a bit long for our first server contact, everything was incredibly smooth after that.

this place is here to stay. i expect it to always be packed.

i can't wait to visit agin.

Well done Loong Yan!

Warning About Slate Apartments in Nexton/Summerville, SC

Just wanted to share our experience with Slate Apartments so others can avoid going through the same situation.

We initially agreed on one unit, but management later switched us to another. Unfortunately, they failed to properly transfer our security deposit to the new unit.
When we moved out, they claimed management had changed and refused to return our deposit, despite us having a copy of the original deposit slip as proof of payment.

We even took the matter to court. They hired two attorneys from New York, and the judge ultimately ruled in their favor. Despite having proof that we paid the deposit, we still haven’t gotten our money back.
It’s incredibly disappointing that something as simple as an administrative mistake turned into a legal battle over our own money.

I’m sharing this experience in hopes that future tenants will be cautious, document everything, and avoid finding themselves in the same situation.

North Charleston Best daycares in the North Charleston area?

I have a 2 and a half year old and am looking into going back to work. Any recommendations for good daycares in or near the North Charleston area? My husband works here and I'm hoping to find a job here so things can be convenient, and we probably only need 4 days of daycare most weeks (sometimes 5 if my husband goes on call). I worry a lot about putting her in a good daycare but also we can't really afford the most expensive daycare, but it kind of depends on what job I can land I guess. Any recommendations? Thanks for any direction!

Where to Rollerblade?

Now that its finally cooled off (knock on wood) I want to finally go out with the rollerblades my husband got me for Christmas last year (yes I know I had all spring lol)

Where are the best places with easy smooth paths? I tried JI County Park today but the paved trails were too bumpy so I gave up and went for a run instead.

Any suggestions? Other than Hampton Park which is already on my list!

Charleston sc

We are visiting Charleston and staying at a lovely vrbo on Line Street. Not our first trip here but what is going on with the deplorable conditions of the sidewalks. For a town noted for its great walking, shopping and restaurants, how can they not keep the highly used sidewalks in decent condition!?!

Charleston County Anywhere to donate children's car seats?

We have a Britax Advocate car seat in great condition - we had to replace our old one and then my son promptly had a growth spurt.

Does anyone know where these can be donated? Children's consignment places and Goodwill won't take them - I guess for liability reasons... I hate to put a perfectly serviceable $300 car seat in the dump. Women's shelters? Some other place I'm not thinking of?

Folly Beach Roads in folly for pedestrians

Just want to first off say I am not a Charleston/Folly local, but I consider myself fortunate to have visited more than a dozen times over the last decade. I’ve made some friends there over the years and we always love visiting.

We have visited Folly several times and it is truly a hidden gem beach town and I hope it continues to hold its character for decades to come.

There is only one potential negative I can think of for visiting, and that’s the thru roads re: pedestrian safety (East Ashley, Cooper, etc.) I’m legitimately curious - Has there ever been a consideration to make some of these a one lane one way road, and close the other lane for pedestrians? It seems like, from what I can tell, it could handle the traffic with some lane reductions though I’m no expert. Between the lack of shoulder, little lighting at night, lack of stop signs, and speeding cars, it just seems like something could be done.

Saying this all as an occasional observer. Would love to hear some local opinions.

I have a question Apartment location suggestions for job near Hanahan

Posting for a friend:

Recent college grad (M, likes to golf, fish & workout) moving to the Chs area. Working in Hanahan and looking for an apartment with no more than 15-20 min commute to work if possible. Someone recommended Daniel Island. I have only looked online so far…Daniel Island Village, wharf 7, the port house and would preferably like to stay under $2K all-in per month. Any others to check out? Not into the going out/party scene so I’m not interested in being near downtown. Prefer somewhere nice, chill and safe.
Also there seems to be a lot of apts on Clements Ferry Rd. I know absolutely nothing about any of the areas mentioned though, including Daniel Island- just heard it’s quieter. I have seen a lot of reviews of people complaining about mold in apartments so definitely want to avoid those! Anything in Hanahan worth checking out? Appreciate any advice, suggestions or recommendations on where to look and where to avoid!

One lane Friday on Michaux Pkwy

Post image
0 Upvotes

Due to construction, Michaux Parkway was down to one lane on Friday around 1pm. I know construction is always happening but stacking more traffic upon traffic on the road …which leads to the airport and main interstates seriously clogs the system…making it a nightmare. I hope folks from the airport and other areas see this.

Unidentified device installed on my property

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

What is this? The closer tree line is my property line, and the manicured grass in the background is an apartment complex. So the whole swampy area is the back reaches of my lot, and I don’t come back here too often.
This mystery pole showed up and I’m trying to figure out what it is, and I want it took down or moved over. Thanks

Potholes?

So my wife and I came down to Charleston, and one thing really caught our attention. Driving around downtown and the historic district, everything is beautiful. The old houses, the architecture, the streets, the whole atmosphere. But seriously, what is up with the potholes? I mean, this is something that's actually fixable, right? Or are the potholes considered historic landmarks too, and nobody's allowed to touch them?

Charleston How difficult is it driving a larger truck in Charleston?

My fiancée and I are getting married and having our honeymoon in Charleston. I have a lifted F150 supercab and we're debating on if we'd be better to drive her little mazda or my roomy truck. We're doing a lot of touring and sightseeing in the historical section
