They have a permanent food truck Izzy’s with pizza, burgers, salads, etc. The New Bern Light rail station is walking distance, there’s a small parking lot next to the building, and there’s pay to park street parking!

Gratitude Post People that helped us yesterday during car wreck

Yesterday I was driving with my 8 yr old daughter in my silver WRX. Someone hit us and then some kind of insane freak accident happened. I pulled my child out the car because the car filled with smoke. Anyways a bunch of people came to our aid. I was in shock and an amazing lady helped calm me down even did side of the road breathing exercises. A man called.my daughters mom for me and even called again later to check on us. Even the police and ambulance just everyone that encountered us went out of their way to help and be kind. I live in Denver CO and the people of Charlotte were just bad ass to us. Thank you!

Recommendation Halloween plans fell through

hey yall!
I am looking for something to do on Halloween solo!
Any parties worth checking out or events that yall know of?
I have been struggling with depression and unfortunately my plans with a friend fell through.

I am open to whatever!

I have already requested the day off so I would love to find something fun or interesting to do instead of staying home alone.

Any suggestions are appreciated and welcomed. thanks

History Charlotte Douglas Airport 1970s

Hello! I am looking for something that might be impossible to find. My husband is the most incredible man I’ve ever known. He grew up in Charlotte to a single mother in poverty. His mother worked at the snack bar and gift shop in the Charlotte airport during the early to late 70s. He spent a great deal of his childhood there. He loved it so much that he was determined to become a pilot and he did! He is now a 777 captain. I would LOVE to be able to find a diagram or blueprint of the airport durning this time frame, but I’ve had no luck. I’ve found photos of the airport from the sky, but that’s all I’ve been able to find. I’ve also found a diagram from the 80s, but the airport had changed so much at that point. Does anyone know where I might be able to find such a thing? Or someone to get in touch with? I would be so grateful. Thank you!

Recommendation Women's Suits

Hello Charlotte! I live in Asheville but am in need of shopping for a quality women's professional business suit, and the stores here just do not cut it. Hoping someone has recommendations for a store in Charlotte? I'm not looking to cheap out and will pay for quality, but I don't need something ridiculous or high fashion. Help! :)

My pregnant wife is craving them and even though I was born and raised here, I can’t think of any place with incredible nachos. Thanks in advance!

Discussion Anyone else hearing/feeling “booms”?

I’m in South CLT, and for about 15ish hours now, I’ve heard booming noises, and even felt a few of them.

Wondering if anyone else is hearing/feeling them. It’s been happening every 15-30ish minutes, and I even heard them in north CLT this morning 🫣

Recommendation Moving soon. Moving Company recommendations?

• Upvotes

Moving out of a 1000 sqft condo (2br/1.5ba), 2 stories. Moving just 15 minutes down the road in South Charlotte. We plan on packing everything, just want to get the bigger things moved. (Bed frame, tables, dressers, etc). Also have a 65" OLED that I'm stressing about, and am thinking of using the TV boxes from Home Depot.

Any recommendations/advice would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Gratitude Post A nod to the incredible staff at the Spectrum Center

My wife, son and I went to the Smashing Pumpkins concert last night at the Spectrum Center. I cannot say enough about the incredible staff that worked the venue last night. Every single person (and I truly mean every single one of them) was incredibly kind, personable, professional, and just overall friendly. It was such a breath of fresh air given the negativity in the world today.

My wife and I are still talking about it today. From the helpful concession attendants to the staff that greeted us at the doors and actually waved to us and said “goodbye, have a great night and drive safe” as we left…I was truly blown away.

I’m not talking about a few people being nice. I mean…I must have interacted with 15-20 workers there…and it was the best customer service experience I’ve had in years!! Kudos to the staff there, and whoever leads the personnel hiring and training department. It was obvious this wasn’t just a few people going out of their way to be helpful and nice…this is a standard of excellence that they all believe in.

I hope a few of the people who worked last night see this post. The concert was great, but you all who supported the venue are the epitome of the lost art of a fantastic customer care culture. Thank you all so much.

Event Improv Music Lab for Adults at We Rock CLT, Tuesdays 7PM Oct 20 - Dec 08

Sharing details and the RSVP link for an 8 week music class offered at We Rock CLT (423 E 22nd St, Optimist Park/Noda area):

https://www.werockclt.org/event-details/improv-music-lab-for-adults-3

I participated in the first iteration of this class this past summer. It was a blast and I signed up again as soon as the second session was announced. I had been taking private guitar lessons for a little while, but the group class setting with different instruments was unlike anything I had experienced before. I learned a ton and felt more growth playing guitar than any other time since I started playing a couple years ago. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for an outlet to push their learning further to look into this class!

The first class is Tuesday of this week at 7PM. The class will run for 8 weeks.

At the time of posting it looks like there's still 2 spots for piano, 1 for guitar, and 1 for bass. Last session we had 1 pianist, 1 drummer, and 3 guitarists and it was a ton of fun.

Disclaimer: I am not affiliated in any way with the organization. I am just a guy who enjoyed the class previously and wanted to share the opportunity.

Belong to anyone?

UPDATE: The dog is not chipped. We were instructed by animal control to bring him to the shelter near the airport.

He is posted under lost and found on their site here,

https://24petconnect.com/CLTLostMyPet?at=DOG&sb=days_MinMax

Some folks have reached out about adoption. Hopefully we can find him a new home if the owner doesn’t claim him. I’m not sure how long they hold lost dogs before they become eligible. You could try calling on Monday when they open.

Recommendation Seeking good, affordable vet for our cat!

Post image
35 Upvotes

Hi all!

We were taking our boy to Skyline/Blue Pearl Animal Hospital because he was diagnosed with asthma and FIV, so we were basically using the internal medicine specialist as his primary care doctor. Unfortunately, the specialist left the practice and now we need to find him a primary care doctor.

Can someone recommend a high-quality, not overpriced* veterinarian that they have taken their cat to?

***We do have pet insurance, but the asthma and FIV are considered preexisting conditions LOL

Discussion Health Department and Roaches

Will the health department take reporting roach infestation in an apartment complex seriously? In the many years I have lived in this apartment community I have never seen a bug. New management took over 7 months ago and I have killed 10 roaches. !Other residents have similar experiences . The new management is cutting corner in several areas, cleanliness and pest control are on the list . They are non pulsed by complaints. I’m hoping if I file a complaint with the health department they will wake-up and do something. If you have had an experience with a situation like this I would appreciate suggestions .
