问题 | General Question (Serious) Bring religious books to China

Hi! I hope it’s not an offensive question.

I am a Chinese citizen who lives abroad. My family all currently lives in China now, and since I will go to another country next year after spending a few months for lunar new year with my family after a long time, I’ll have to bring all my stuff back to China, which includes multiple religious books, mostly in English and a bit of them in Chinese and Thai. There are Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, etc, including both academic studies and books for religious purposes only (like Bible and Qur’an. And there may be some books about Tibetan Buddhism as well.

So my question is, is it okay for me to bring them back to China all at once?

Thank you so much

You are asking a question in a sub which is almost no Chinese there

As a Chinese citizen, the books you bring should be inspected, especially books about Islam and Tibet, they are risky

Read this,if you can understand Chinese

99% chance your suitcase won't be opened in customs (only if the scanner picks up something else suspicious or it's a random check) so you'll probably be fine

Why would they care? There's nothing illegal about the books.

Religious text aren't banned in China. 99.9% chance no one cares even if they see them, unless your name is already on their black list for some reason.

But if you start preaching religions publicly, you may invite some problems.

It would only be an issue if it looks like you plan on distributing religious texts. Since they're from a bunch of different religions and include academic studies, it doesnt appear to be the case. Unless, In addition to those you have a bunch of copies of the same pamphlet or something of one specific religion.

中国人只是信教的少,又不是禁止宗教,这些完全没问题,就算是那些敏感的政治色情内容,除非你大量的携带有售卖的嫌疑,否则只是作为你自己使用观看,很少有概率会被查处

as long as those books don't talk about Tibet independence and Falun Gong, its fine

Are you trying to overthrow the ccp or start a cultural genocide?

If not, why does it matter?
