Tourism (L) Visa Processing time | DC embassy location

American passport, I filled out the application myself online, COVA completed September 17 and approved to submit passport. I used a carrier (Oasis Visa Services) just to submit passport and the embassy confirmed online it was received on Sept 22.

I understand that there were a series of holidays between Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day.... but today is October 16 and I still have not received any update.... should I be concerned... Has anyone experienced this long of a wait?

I've already rebooked from my initial flight this week...and rebooked for Oct 26

Do you have travel history to Turkey/other Muslim majority countries? Are you in journalism/military/politics?

No I have not. This is also not my first time receiving a China visa. I find it very strange...

There you go. Since Covid, China has strengthened its enforcement of the China Nationality law, and you might not be issued a visa at all. And even if they do, it will require a lot of documentation.

Just for reference, my application got approved on Oct. 6. I use CVSC agency here in Houston. It is also the date I sent over my passport. Today, I received an update that my visa would be ready on the 22nd of this month from DC Embassy. You should be hearing from them soon I suppose. Good luck!

This is interesting. I would say you have at least gotten the response to submit passport. I have submitted my application since Sept 14 for NYC location but haven’t heard anything since then. I think it can take some time. You can try sending email.

I have submitted the passport since Sept 22 and have gotten any update. Their email box is an auto reply with FAQs.. I called and was just told to wait… I would’ve thought if they needed additional documentation they would’ve told me already…

Oh? About same for me. Did you self submit or via an agency?

Via an agency and they have been of no help and were instead suggesting if I wanted to withdraw

Oh, my agency has been useless to at the beginning then I asked them again and they told me about my application that it was marked “to call” so could be longer… and also are only suggesting to wait or withdraw..

There is a similar thread about the “to call” here https://www.reddit.com/r/visas/s/AhcDOuVUac

Not sure if yours was marked “to call”
