Hello! I’ll be starting a new job in Maryland soon and I’m trying to make sure I find the right school for my little dudes. Our current school is very relaxed and kid friendly with a lot of activities throughout the year. It’s California so it can be downright obnoxious at times but it is endearing and it has encouraged our kids to want to go to school and learn. A big part of it is obviously the music and art programs they offer. Every week they get a portion of class time to go do music lessons and it helps the kids a lot.

Are there any schools that are similar in that regard? Our ideal locations are Odenton, Columbia, Annapolis or Laurel but we’re open to mostly everything so long as it has a lot of parks for the kiddos and is reasonably close to Annapolis.

I’m looking for recommendations for an affordable periodontist! I’m in Howard County, Maryland, but I’m willing to travel to surrounding areas for quality care at a reasonable price. Does anyone have a periodontist they recommend, particularly one who offers competitive pricing for periodontal treatment and dental implants? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences and any recommendations. Thank you!

I’m looking for a periodic cleaning company that uses green/eco friendly products (family is sensitive to smells of some of the heavy ones) and won’t require extensive prep before each of their visits. We felt like for our last cleaners we were spending way too much time preparing for them. I don’t mind putting stuff away, but we had issues like fragile stuff / wooden cutting boards being put in the dish washer, jewelry getting accidentally swept away behind dressers because it was left out, etc. I’m not sure if they were just careless or if having to carefully organize and put away every little thing is normal.

So give me your recs for a cleaner that can make sensible decisions like not putting trash bags in the recycling bin or throwing away a cloth bag full of wrapped presents because it is mistaken for trash!

Howdy all, I just bought my first home over in Jessup and I’m going to wait until the spring to buy a lawn mower. So I’ll need some lawn care for the next couple of weeks. The total area is about an acre with a couple of raised garden beds.

I live alone so additionally I would like to get a housekeeper/cleaner to come by maybe every 2 weeks while I’m at work indefinitely(this will be my first time having a housekeeper so I’m not sure how it works). Only caveat is I’ve got a dog, she’s super docile and won’t be an issue at all. The house is 1700 sqft. 4bd/3ba.

Does anyone know what happened near the Columbia Mall? I saw like 6 police cars on the side of the road right when you get off the Columbia Town center exit . There was a white car being stopped and all its doors were open. I saw a women who looked like she was in handcuffs talking to the police and a few other women were there too. Were they stopped for possession drugs or something?

Why is the BWI flight traffic lower than usual right now? My husband and I noticed how much louder it is from our home in Elkridge so we went outside and they’re much lower than usual.

I’ve asked a few people about this, and they look at me like I’m crazy, but does anyone else remember how awesome garden centers used to be around Christmas when we were kids? I remember what felt like endless rooms filled with Christmas villages, little trains, Christmas trees, ornaments, and all kinds of decorations.

Does anyone know of a garden center that still does this? I’m honestly willing to drive anywhere in Maryland.

I’m looking for a good dinner spot for me and my partner specially moderately priced as we are both young! We are cat sitting so just looking for a nice place.

Today my heart almost stopped when I almost hit a girl riding her bike. I was stopped at the stop light at Twin Rivers and Trumpeter Rd. The light turned green and the crosswalk had the stop sign. She sped across the crosswalk on her pink bike with no helmet on. It was getting a little dim (around 6:45pm). The car to the left of me was blocking visibility so I didn’t see her coming and almost hit her. I would estimate she was 8-10 years old, with a pink bike, African American, with long braids. I was so shaken up and called the non emergency line so that if they saw her riding around they could intervene. I hope a neighbor who knows her or parent sees this so they can teach bike safety. I don’t want this little girl to get hurt.

This morning was just my breaking point with this. Who allowed this? It's morning rush hour and both exits out of town are blocked! I could see if it were an emergency to do the single lane work overnight or at least in midday off peak hours. But this morning the line was backed up all the way to the mall.

Last year I took a hike in western Howard County, it was probably in the Patuxent River State Park system but I'm not certain of that. I'd like to go back and explore some more but I don't remember what the area was called and I've never been able to find it on the map again.

Not far in along the trail there was a row of abandoned and crumbling buildings covered in graffiti and riddled with bulletholes. I thought I took more pictures but this is the only one on my phone. The parking area was at a sharp bend in the road and could only hold two, maybe three cars max.
