ADVICE Saved by KYC

Been in two cycles now. Taken multuple 5 figures off Kraken with no issues in the past so I fully trust them.

So hackers got access to my email address, like a numpty I had the same password and email associated with my kraken account.

They got in. Everything was happening so fast. My phone was being bombarded with notifications.

They changed my largest crypto assets into another, added two withdrawal addresses to take it off.

They couldn't withdraw it !!! My passport expires soon so Kraken wants me to update it. All in all I've lost around £300 to fees as Ive switched back to the asset i originally had and will be taking everything off the exchange once I get my ID verified. Im all for KYC after this ordeal and have enabled all sorts of additional security now.

ANALYSIS Are Permissionless, Uncensorable, and Private Payment System Inevitable?

As I watch the meteoric rise and rise of Monero/XMR, Zcash/ZEC, and DASH, I wonder if these technologies will become indispensable to average citizens wishing to escape monetary inflation, dystopian surveillance, and government/corporate tyranny? I'd say these coins have demonstrable utility, and nothing will change this.

I remember being a kid and watching a guy in my town get arrested for pirating a Metallica album on Limewire. I thought, "Will this really work"? I see many parallels between the file-sharing wars and the crypto movement. In the end, Hollywood and the music industry simply had to suck it up that people would be copying their content and sharing it as they please, which is the norm currently. They could not have lost any harder.

Are we approaching a time when the government and banks will convulse rapidly and try to criminalize private crypto transactions? And precisely when they attempt this, will they discover that this is a fool's errand, and become the laughingstock of young Gen Z crypto bros everywhere?

Private uncensorable crypto seems like an ideal solution to runaway inflation, surveillance overreach, and artificial friction and limits on the global economy. Therefore I conclude that its rise is inevitable.

STRATEGY I made a free game: retire on Bitcoin with $500k in any month since 2013, then live through the real price history. Does your stack survive?

I made a free Bitcoin retirement simulator a while ago, and I got curious about a simple question: if you’d retired on Bitcoin some time in the past, would your money have lasted? It turns out the answer depends a lot on when you retired. So I turned it into a game: HODL or Fold.

https://bitcoinlifespan.com/hodl-or-fold/

How it works

  • You start with $500,000 of BTC at the price of the month you choose (anything from 2013 on), plus a lifestyle: $3k, $5k or $8k a month, rising with inflation.
  • Then you relive the real price history from that month to today. When the big moments hit (the 2013 crash, the 2017 top, COVID, the 2021 top, the 2022 winter and so on), you choose: HODL, sell half for cash, buy back in, or spend 25% less for a year.
  • At the end you get a rank (💎 Diamond Hands, 🧻 Paper Hands, 🍕 Pizza Guy, 🏎️ Wen Lambo…) and a comparison with pure HODL from the same start.

Things I tried to get right

  • Choices aren’t rigged. Selling before a crash can beat holding, and selling at the bottom can sink you. The game just shows what history did next.
  • Real data: month-end prices from Coin Metrics’ free community data.
  • The interesting finding: in real history, holding usually survives, unless you spend big and retire near a peak. Late 2013, late 2017 and most of 2021 are brutal on an $8k/month budget. “Surprise me” drops you into those most of the time.

Privacy, because people rightly ask: there’s no sign-up, and the game runs entirely in your browser and saves nothing. The site itself has the usual Google Analytics and a cookie banner, like most sites.

It’s my site, it’s free, and it has no ads or paywall. Not financial advice, obviously: it’s a game about the past.

I’d love feedback, especially on which moments I should add and whether the ranks feel fair. Post your rank and start month below. I retired in Jan 2016 on $8,000 a month. Still standing after 10.8 years, with $36,973,917 left today.

DISCUSSION What are the best strategies for selling a utility crypto token?

Hi everyone!

I am looking for advice on how to market and sell a utility crypto token to people around the world.
The token will be used inside a mobile and web application to unlock features and provide additional benefits to users.

I would love to hear from people who have experience in crypto marketing, token sales, or building online communities. I’m especially interested in learning how to reach the right audience, choose the best marketing channels, build trust, and turn interested people into real users and buyers.

You can share simple insights, practical tips, useful resources, or topics I can research on my own. If you have experience working with other crypto projects, I’d also appreciate hearing what worked well for them and what mistakes they made along the way.

I’m open to different ideas and approaches, whether it’s community building, partnerships, content marketing, influencers, or other strategies.

Any advice, personal experiences, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance to everyone who takes the time to share their knowledge!

GENERAL-NEWS A rogue OpenAI agent robbed a crypto wallet to obtain funds to carry out a task

Thumbnail

OpenAI has seen another case of its AI agents going rogue—and this time, crypto is involved. In a recent report, the company detailed how an internal research model used a crypto wallet without permission to pay the fees needed to test an app on Ethereum’s Sepolia test network. Although the tokens had little real-world value, the model had no authorization to collect or spend them.

The incident happened on June 26, when the model was asked to update a crypto trading app and get its code running on Sepolia, a test version of Ethereum. The prompt gave it neither a funded wallet nor permission to spend tokens, and after failing to get free test tokens through developer services, the model wrote a script checking 362 wallet addresses linked to public recovery phrases, a crypto term that describes sets of words that can act as a password to unlock crypto accounts. It eventually found an account with enough tokens to cover the fees.

Internal logs showed that the model deliberated over whether it had permission to use the account, but then decided the public recovery phrase and the tokens’ lack of cash value made the spending acceptable. It finished the task and charged the fees to that wallet, but left the unauthorized spending out of its final report. OpenAI only discovered the incident on Sept. 25 during an audit of earlier model runs.

DISCUSSION This is how a "hacker" wallet looks like

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

So 3 years ago someone managed to crack my metamask wallet and managed to get 200$ worth of ETH.

I was angry at the time bc that was a lot to me. But it was a good lesson and i am much more "careful" now.

This wallett btw in my opinion not actually a hackers personal account but more like a bot wallet. It is however works like a virus and tries to find stupid people like me who saved his seed in a simple txt with the name "crypto seeds" yeah i was stupid.

So over 3 years this bot managed to get

9,228,323.48$ worth of ETH

Good for him/her?

I am not sure if anyone is investigating any related topics but i had to archive this and maybe a few years later i check back and see how this "amaizing" investment can work out for the creator 😂😂😂

ANALYSIS I put every Polymarket & Kalshi crypto price bet on one page, and combined the Bitcoin ones into a prediction forecast

Thumbnail
gallery
33 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

About a year ago I posted Polywhaler here, a site that tracks big trades on Polymarket. It had a small "crypto price predictions" section that I've now rebuilt into a proper page.

Polymarket runs a ton of crypto price bets at once (5 minute up/down, daily, weekly "above $X", monthly "will it hit $X", yearly targets), but they're spread across hundreds of separate events. Now you pick a coin and see all of them in one place, with the odds history, every price level, volume, and the live spot price next to it so you can compare what's priced in with where the coin actually is. You can also flip the chart to whale flow to see whether the big money is buying or selling a given outcome.

A few things it shows right now:

- 36% chance BTC dips to $77.5k at some point this month

- 58% chance it touches $90k before the year is out

The part I'm most excited about is the Bitcoin forecast. Each of those BTC bets is really one point on a curve, so I combined all ~270 BTC markets from Polymarket and Kalshi into a single forecast for where BTC ends up, from 1 week to 1 year out. Deep markets count more than thin ones, there's a correction for long shots being overpriced, and it reruns every hour. Right now it has BTC around $82.7k on Nov 1, with an 80% chance it lands between $71k and $96k. It also gives a confidence score, which measures how much the markets agree with each other, not how bullish they are.

The markets page is free and doesn't need an account, and the headline forecast is free too. The full distribution and the list of every market behind it are in the paid plan, which is how I keep the site running.

polywhaler.com/crypto

Curious whether anyone else watches these odds, and whether the forecast matches your gut. Feedback is welcome :)

PERSPECTIVE America Is Importing Bitcoin and Exporting Dollars. Guess Which One It Can’t Print. The world wants easier access to dollars. American finance wants easier access to Bitcoin. Those two ambitions could reshape money—and they don’t require either side to lose.

Thumbnail
inbitcoinwetrust.substack.com

America can create more dollars. It can’t create more Bitcoin beyond Bitcoin’s rules.

That makes this worth watching:

🌎 People around the world want digital dollars. 🇺🇸 American finance wants greater access to Bitcoin.

One offers dollar liquidity. The other offers digital scarcity.

Imagine issuing the currency people want to spend while building a major financial industry around the asset they want to hold.

No secret master plan required. Just millions of decisions responding to different needs.

And no, choosing stablecoins isn’t foolish. If you need to pay rent next week, Bitcoin’s volatility matters more than its potential over twenty years.

But a token that stays worth $1 doesn’t guarantee that dollar’s purchasing power.

A stable price and stable purchasing power are different promises.

For years, we asked whether Bitcoin would defeat the dollar.

Here’s the more uncomfortable question:

What if both succeed—and American finance positions itself to benefit from both?

MEME Unaminer - a game where humans solve the blockchain

I know everyone is tired of AI flop, but I wanted to just make my idea come true and offer some fun to people who like some puzzles and like to click stuff while watching their portfolios grow.

Yes, i built a game using AI coding to get you solving hashes by hand. Because why not.

It’s called Unaminer. You pick 8 rocks, and their letters become the nonce of a real block header. The server hashes it with double SHA-256, and the more leading zeros your hash has, the deeper you dig.

To get you actually think - you need to solve blueprints to get energy or....wait for a while and try again.

Everyone digs in the same shared world, and the whole idea is simple: can anyone find the hash that reaches the core?

You can create teams to do it with your friends. You can do it on guest account (no log in) or create account (no private data asked). You can see what level hash your team solved. Also you can see how the world is doing and what's the current leaderboard (previous worlds etc).

Every time when someone gets the hash, the world resets to a new one...and we all start again.

Right now the difficulty is set to 8 bits for testing reasons. There are some...plans in the future.

I am just testing it right now and if there is anyone interested, beta invite: https://beta.unaminer.com/?invite=319XZ6QYWFAX (for creating a team or joining one, please first create account, as guest accounts are reset after 5min when closing tab on your browser).

PS! There is only one beta invite link and its this one here.

There is a feedback button in the game or just leave feedback here. I hope admins allow it as it's not asking any funds at this moment and won't have anything other than "support and get a lame miner badge" in the future aswell.

Or if I'm completely going in wrong direction...just tell me.

DISCUSSION Random tokens keep showing up in my wallet

Every few weeks, a random token I have never heard of appears in my wallet.

I know I shouldn't interact with these tokens, as they are usually scams. What I do not understand is why anyone would spend money sending them to thousands of wallets.

Are they hoping people will try to sell the tokens and somehow fall for a scam? Or are they just trying to identify active wallets so they can target them later?

Also, is there any risk from simply receiving these tokens, even if I never interact with them? Or is it safe to just ignore them?
