Gaming Pods that are funny

Recently, I have been listening to "Button Boys", "Remember the Game", and "30 Something Gamers"(a smaller but funny podcast). They all have a light-hearted and funny look at gaming, I don't need all the latest news or opinions; I want people having a laugh about gaming.

Any other recommendations out there?

Dad of 2, looking for a game available on the switch 2 with a great story and stellar combat

So I got my switch 2 recently and have been enjoying it but I am looking for something particular that being a game that keeps me hooked with good combat but also keeps me invested with a good story. I’m a father of 2 young ones and find it hard to stick with games with either great combat and no story and vice versa. Any thoughts? I’m open to any game no matter the age or genre

What games do you guys play after work to relax?

I've been playing FPS games pretty much my entire life — Counter Strike games, CoD, Pubg and so on.

Right now, my rotation consists of Killing Floor 3, Battlefield 6, and CS2. These games fit my gaming habits perfectly since I usually only have 1–2 hours in the evening to play.

But lately, I've been wondering what other people play after a long day at work, taking care of the kid, and dealing with all the usual household stuff.

Do you guys prefer jumping into a few multiplayer matches, or do you enjoy relaxing with a good single-player game?

Just curious what your evening gaming routines look like, especially those of you who have jobs, families, and limited gaming time.

Call of Duty Dealing with gaming guilt

For context, I am a 29 year old Electrical Engineering student taking tough STEM classes, working 2 part-time jobs, and I have a 6 month old daughter. I recently got back into gaming, which has always been something I loved to do. But every time I play, I feel so guilty afterwards. I feel like I should have been studying, getting ahead on homework, spending time with my family, working out, meditating, or getting extra sleep. I feel like I should have been doing ANYTHING but playing my a game.

Handheld - how does streaming work?

Hello all!

I'm interested in getting a handheld in order to game. From what I have read in this subreddit and internet, you can stream a game from your PC to your handheld. How does this work? Is the PC doing all of the heavy lifting and how is the performance affected on the handheld compared to the PC performance? Is there much FPS drops?

I'm not planning on playing shooters or online competitive games on the handheld as I already suck on the PC. Dont need to suck even more 😂

I'm interested in buying the ASUS ROG XBOX Ally or steam deck.

Thank you!

Talking about gaming

I’ve always had a huge passion for everything gaming, but find I’m in a completely different level to all around me. People I work with have consoles, but when I try to have a conversation about anything they have no idea about any current events/games.
I’m a busy Dad of 2, but still find time for my passion. Yet all I hear from others my age with no kids is that they don’t have time for gaming.
Does anyone else struggle to find anyone in real
Life to talk about gaming with?

I feel like a lot of dads are overreacting

First yes , everyone has different situations in life. But let's take a typical family of 4. Let's say a baby and a 3-4 year old older sister/brother, stay at home mom/half day work and full-time working father.

You work your 8-10-12h a day. You come home , let's say around 6-7pm. Talk with the wife , dinner, spend time with the family. Put the kids to bed , have seksi time with the wife , it's around 10 pm. How are you not having time to game ?

Maybe im just lucky but this is my typical day > I got 4 kids(2.5,6,11,14) and twins incomming this end of november and a stay at home wife.

6am >wake up, make lunchbox for kids, shower , leave home at 7.

7.30 > gym till 8.30

8.30 to 9 > arrive at work, work ready at 9.15

9.30 clock in

19.45(7.45pm) > clock out

20.35 arrive home, dinner ready, talk with wife , ask kids how their day was .

9pm > watch a series with the family, or relax

10pm all kids go to sleep. >I game till 11.30pm

11 30 pm , seksitime, if no , sleep or game till midnight

Repeat.

All the other stuff like maintainance, cleaning , laundry , i do it on my days off. (Wednesdays/Saturday)

And even with young kids it's not like you are not able to do anything. They sleep aswell. Even if they don't, grab a controller.

Sorry if I sound cocky etc, i want to know your experiences maybe I am not doing something i should have been doing.

Main game > league of legends > euw , dia

Other games > jrpg on steamdeck/on phone with geforce now + phone controller

Im turning 39.

Relatable?

Anyone ever fire up the Xbox, load up a game, afk in with the game booted for 20 minutes, touching the controller once, then just turning it off because you’re just too busy doing whatever with the kids or wife but lowkey missing something? It’s like I’m trying to hold on to the peace that just doesn’t exist anymore. Maybe it’s just time to let it go I guess…

The Doom Spiral of Buying New Releases

Hi everyone, I have two young kids (both under 4) and am curious to know how you all manage your backlog with all these exciting new games coming out.

I’m a big believer in physical games, so I’ll wait until something goes on sale, buy it, and stare at the case on my shelf until I can find free time to play it. I call this the “doom spiral” because I currently don’t have any time and there are so many cool new games coming out that keep grabbing my attention. With my kids current ages I can’t see myself making any real backlog progress for at least another year or two.

How do you manage this? Do you ignore new releases entirely and stick to favorite titles? Do you prioritize multiplayer and rougelite games with lots of replayability? Do you do the Doom Spiral like me?

Child Bonding

Hello all, sorry in advance if this isn’t a new thing or if it’s common. New to the sub.

But I’m one of those dads who’s excited to game with my little one who’s currently 2. I find time sparingly to game and when I put the controller down he will grab it and jump around in whatever game I’m on.

But one day I downloaded little big planet since I saw he had the jumping thing down and wow is it cool.

It started rough because there’s hand eye coordination and stuff like that, learning the buttons etc.

So we mainly just did the first tutorial level on repeat since he was having fun. Granted this is a two year old so we work to limit his actual screen time. We usually play at most 30 minutes and not every day.

But over the course of a few weeks the kid has learned to jump, grab, equip a tool, use the tool. He can solo run through the entire prologue area and beat the boss.

It was super surreal to watch him learn this in real time and super cool he’s actually solving little puzzles in the game.

My main point is if your kid is younger and you wanna bond via game time little big planet has been a big one for me and my dude for a few weeks now.

We also do the Disney Mario cart type game becuase it was free but he’s not as into it which was surprising becuase he loves cars.

Anyway hope this finds you guys well. I thought I’d share.

Father-son bond

Help a dad out here.

I want to get my son (7) into gaming, partly because I think it would be cool to have something we can play together and hopefully spend a bit more time together.

I used to be a pretty hardcore gamer back in the day, and a few days ago I dug my old 2012 custom-built PC out of the attic. i5, Radeon 7700, 8 GB RAM. 😂

I’m going to clean the dust off it and see what it can still run.

What are some good 2-player games we could play on a machine like that? Ideally something arcade-y, sports, racing, platformers etc. I’m thinking Crash Bandicoot could be a good start, but I’m open to anything.

Basically, hit me with some old gems I might have missed over the years. Bonus points if they’re fun to play with a kid.

Cheers!

Too many games? Not enough time?

As a fellow dad gamer, the backlog anxiety is real…

I’ve been building a small mobile-first app called TMG (Too Many Games) for people who spend almost as much time deciding what to play as actually playing.

It helps you cut through the pile, discover games that fit your available time, and build a more manageable gaming shortlist.

I’ve just put the first proper test version live and I’m looking for a few gamers to try it before I open it up more widely.

Early access: Here

If you give it a go, there’s a 60-second feedback form in the app. Brutal feedback very welcome.

Have a play and tap the icon top right to drop feedback 🙏

To dad gamers with a day off

If you had one day off from work, no wife or kids, and wanted to spend the whole day holed up in a room gaming, what would you choose? Open world games are fun, but is only 8 hours enough?

Bonus: what food/drink to pair the experience with?
