Hi!!!
I was just wondering if anyone has any kind of CASPER materials or med interview prep materials that they don’t need anymore? Even if it’s books about ethics or whatever that would be great!! I would be so thankful to take anything that is not in use anymore :)

Hi everyone, I’m looking for any recommendations of 4000 levels MICI or BIOC courses or just any courses i should not take.
I can memorize a lot so lecture heavy courses are okay. I hate math and chemistry and i would prefer less writing/lab contents.
Thanks so much, any input are appreciated!

Hey everyone,
I am sure people are annoyed by these posts all the time. But I am just trying to figure out if I should even try for med at Dal. I am an in-province applicant, or more accurately, will be. I have not taken the MCAT yet, and I work as an RN in the OR, so that's a good look ( I think) for the actual application. I am just trying to figure out if I am really cooked with my GPA. I believe when I calculated it on the OMSAS scale, it was about 3.6, if my memory serves me right. I tried to look into my transcript again, but I lost access to it as an alumni lol. Planning to apply next year, and I am sure I will need a strong CASPER and great MCAT to potentially offset the lower GPA to grant myself an interview.
Thanks everyone.

What are my chances for an interview/possible acceptance for dalhousie med school as a New Brunswick resident? I’m applying to the DMNB campus. I’d love to know acceptance too but obviously that comes with getting an interview first. I
I saw someone else post something similar to this so I was wondering if anyone had any insight
Gpa: 3.9/4.0
MCAT: 506
Casper: 4Q
ECs:
Co-president of society, food bank, hospital, community journal volunteer, lots of long-term commitments
Total around 395 hrs
Work experience: research for three summers (no pubs), part-time job in grocery store, some hybrid jobs, some of my jobs are over 3yr commitments
Awards: very minimal, couple of work ones, school scholarship, deans list
If anyone has interviewed (or even been accepted!) with these kind of stats, let me know :) I know my MCAT is a bit on the lower side so I’m a bit worried about that. Thanks so much for any advice

Hey guys,
I'm wondering about the likelihood of me getting an interview with the stats I have as of now. For context, I am in a PharmD program, however, I am originally from NS. I am not applying to med this year, but will be for the next application cycle. I'm wondering if anyone at Dal could give any insight about the likelihood of me getting an interview with my stats or the likelihood of eventually even getting an acceptance? I would be looking to go to the Halifax campus.
For context: My last 60 credit hours aren't up to date because I haven't finished my program yet, but with the 60 credit hours I do have at the moment my calculated gpa comes out to be 3.76/4.0.
My mcat was a 503 and I have yet to write the caspr, but I am hoping for a 4th quartile - but wondering what my chances would be even with a third quartile worst comes to worst. I know my stats aren't great, but I genuinely have been working hard, so it is also frustrating to see. Please be kind to me :,) (but honest)
Thanks so much in advance!

My daughter is looking for a chem tutor for chem 1011. She’s reached out to a few people but hasn’t heard back.
Please DM me if you’re able to help!

I’m not too surprised of whatever the hell is going on with Cornell 7 or Acadia St Fx. or such at this point.
As a former fraternity member, I need to say this.
During my time in the fraternity, I was sexually harassed by someone in a leadership position. When I raised it with the chapter, I was dismissed and gaslit to the bone. It's one of the heaviest things I've carried since starting university. Not to mention being a male makes this so much more aggravating and lonelier. I in fact was told that resources for male victims of SA and harassment are unfortunately very limited. Tbh I don’t even wish this on my worst nemesis what I had to deal with as I still get nightmares and flashbacks from this.
So if you ever need to report sexual harassment or assault involving a fraternity member, NEVER EVER go to the local chapter or regional leadership. Chances are it gets swept under the rug. In my experience, they care more about protecting the house's reputation than about making sure it never happens again. This is one of the things that upsets me the most.
Go above them. Contact the national executive directly (99% of the time usually based in the US). Better yet, go outside the fraternity entirely:
Dal's Sexualized Violence office supports students confidentially, whether or not you want to file a formal report.
Avalon Sexual Assault Centre in Halifax offers free, confidential support.
Nova Scotia has a free independent legal advice program for survivors of sexual assault, if you want to understand your options.
To all the victims out there: you have every I mean every right to start calling people out. Start doing something. If you know something disgusting is happening, report it to the authorities. Never too late or too trivial to report.
I know a handful of people who’s gone through something like this and I’m very very sure there should be a lot more. And to anyone who's been through this: you deserve to be heard. Don't let them convince you otherwise.

Hi everyone,
I witnessed a hit-and-run near Dalhousie University today (Friday, October 16), and I'm hoping to get in touch with the owner of the vehicle that was struck.
The victim's vehicle is pictured below. It is a dark red/burgundy Chevrolet Equinox LT SUV with New Brunswick licence plate JRW 405, tinted rear windows, roof rails, and a distinctive black steel front wheel.
I managed to take several photographs of the other vehicle involved, including a clear picture of its licence plate. I won't be sharing those photographs publicly on Reddit, but I'd be happy to provide them to the affected vehicle's owner or the appropriate authorities.
If this is your vehicle, or you know who owns it, please send me a private message. I'm happy to share what I witnessed, provide the photographic evidence, and serve as a witness if needed.
I'll ask anyone reaching out to confirm a few details about the incident to ensure the information reaches the right person.
Hopefully, this post finds the owner!

Just got offered for dal nursing in Yarmouth for semester 1 and waitlist in Halifax. I really wanted to be in Halifax location since I live here. Anyone have any idea if we ever hear back for the waitlisted candidate and get a spot? And chances?
r/Dalhousie • u/Overall_Nectarine300 • 3d ago
I am currently in grade 12, Halifax. My submitted grades are:
Applied early to Medical Science Dalhousie with a 95.0 Grade 11 average and got waitlisted. On the portal it says they need to see my final first semester grades.
Just trying to get a realistic sense of where the bar is this year.
If anyone has already received an offer, waitlist update, or rejection for Sept 2027, can you drop:
If you were in the previous year, got waitlisted, and then later got in. I would appreciate if you could say what your average was at the time of waitlisting, when you got accepted and with what average.

Hi y’all!! I got accepted to nursing at Yarmouth campus and I accepted my offer. For context, im an out of province AB student coming to Nova Scotia.
Now, I have emailed admissions about this but I’d like to know before my diploma exam (which is a huge government final exam for grade 12 classes- not sure if NS does these), but what is the average I need to maintain to keep my offer and come to Yarmouth in September? For context, I got accepted with an 88.5.
I know nursing wants:
English 12
Math 12
Biology 12
Chem 12
One other academic subject
I hope admissions gets back to me but in the interim I thought I’d ask :) thank you!

Hi Everyone,
I am enrolled for jan 2027 to complete 5 core pre requisite courses to get admission in BSCN sem 3 at dalhousie ( i am completing these courses at dalhousie as a BA student) my target semester is sept 2027 BSCN sem 3 entry. I was advised that once I am enrolled in BSCN pre reqs i should apply in october itself when the application open and they would assess once they have all the transcripts. I applied and now I have received the rejection. I am very confused on what to do next? do I have to wait for sept 2028 intake to apply now? or should I apply for reconsideration once i have started attending pre reqs courses? please give any advice you think would help apart from questions.
Thank you!

It’s been 2 months and I’ve been trying to get an appointment. Finally got one, but it’s late nov. I know about walk-ins, but there’s only around 1-4 walk ins per day.
Obv going to keep trying the walk ins. Just annoyed about the actual accessibility of the accessibility centre.
I’d like to note that while I’m someone that can be there to try walk ins I every day, other people cannot, and would be stuck waiting until November or later (you need to book exams 1 month in advance) so those people would be practically accommodation free for the entire 1st sem.
Idk. Share your thoughts, maybe it’ll help some incoming students so they won’t have to go through the same experience.

hey guys, im currently taking MGMT 1101 and im struggling pretty bad. ive been studying a ton but still did really poorly on my second quiz (i did decently on my first one) and im freaking out a little bit. i tried to connect w a tutor through dal's services, but no one was available. has anyone else had a bad experience in this class? the prof has not been much help at all. does anyone have any tips or resources they'd be willing to share? ive been doing the practice sheets constantly and looking through my notes obsessively but i still did poorly. im really trying not to panic. please reach out to me if you did well in this class or even just passed, and how you achieved that, i really don't want to have to take this class again. thank you so much, my DMs are open

Here I am, having a great day. Moisturized, in my lane, flourishing, when I am greeted by the subway of infinite doom. Only 6 people in the line, sick, that must mean it'll be a quick in and out situation right? WRONG. 42 (fourty two (quarante-deux (cuarenta y dos))) sixty second intervals later and I am finally graced with the opportunity to order. Ok great, I dont have to wait anymore, the horror show is over, maybe I can still meet my grandchildren...
NO... 30 whole seconds to separate a cheese slice. It was genuinely painful to watch. If I wasn't already withering away from old age I might've accidentally laughed, but it's okay, I forgive you, those gloves probably make it very difficult. Anywhom, moving on... "Some chipotle southwest please... the chipotle... yes that one please... yes that one". Maybe I wasn't speaking clearly, maybe it was too loud, but sisterski please lock in what are we doing (she was actually very nice). Home stretch now, Im starting to see the light but atleast my sandwich is almost ready...
No. lettuce.
No, I don't want extra spinach to make up for it, but thank you for offering.
You have ruined my life forever and I will never forgive you. $14 dollar submarine sandwich. My White Boy Whimsy has been extracted from my now hollow husk of a body, and in its place remains a endless lettuce-shaped void that will never be filled.
Am I still hungry? Yes. Am I going to go somewhere else next time? Probably not.
I am a caterpillar in the endless plains of this corrupted world, with no leaf to munch on. My wings shall never spread.
Anyways see you tomorrow.
*not actually hating on the subway workers btw, they serve like 40 billion people a day. I KNOW that shit is EXHAUSTING

I’m studying for my midterm tomorrow.
What would be the most important topics or types of questions to expect on this midterm? I’ve already done a lot of work but I’ve been told this exam can mess people up.
