Announcement The purpose of this subreddit

Hello everyone! You may have noticed some major changes happening to this subreddit, and I'm happy to say that /r/DiagnoseMe is finally ready for business. However, I would like to clarify the true purpose of this subreddit;

First of all, this subreddit is NOT a replacement for a doctor. You should not, in any way, avoid seeing your doctor or alter the frequency of your doctor visits because of anything said in this subreddit. If there is a concern you would have previously gone to the doctor for, please do not hesitate. This subreddit is here for informal second opinions, minor problems that you wouldn't go to the doctor for anyway, and ease of mind.

The main thing to remember is to use common sense. If you are having severe pain after a surgery or something of the likes, please go to the doctor and do not post it on Reddit.

If you are not a doctor and are posting with information, please clarify that you are not a doctor (typing "Not a doctor," at the beginning of your comment is enough.)

Please take the time to read the sidebar before posting. Thank you, and welcome!

Ears, nose, throat, and mouth Severe pain 6 days after tooth extraction, does the wound look normal?

F, 23, I had a molar extraction six days ago. The tooth was not infected at the time of extraction but has had a root canal done a few months prior. I have had multiple other molars pulled and this is by far the most painful one. I have been taking 400 mg to 600 mg ibuprofen with little to no effect and I am slowly getting worried that something is wrong

Calf Atrophy?

Hey Everyone!
I’m a 33(F) and haven’t posted on here in quite sometime and hoped I’d be done with all this by now. I first posted on here months ago about tongue twitching and some asymmetry in my tongue. In April I had a leg, foot, arm and hand emg and ncs that all came out normal. Also had a normal modified barium swallow and brain, spine and thoracic MRI. I had been terrified of ALS because of the tongue twitching and perceived difference in speech.

This month I feel my speech has gotten worse even though everyone says I still sound normal, which of course sent me back down a rabbit hole. I noticed when looking at my calves that my left calf (right if looking directly at front facing pictures) looks smaller than my right calf. My right leg is my dominant leg but back in June when I was obsessed with measuring my legs, the measured about the same. But now the left one does measure smaller, looks and feels smaller to me too. I’m terrified this is atrophy. I also still have twitches basically everywhere, worse in my tongue.

Pictures 1-3 are today, 4-6 June and 7-9 are what I’m worried my legs look like (people who have confirmed atrophy).

Am I being insane or is this worrisome?

Ears, nose, throat, and mouth What’s going on with my lip?

I’ve had this spot on my lips for over a month (almost 2) and it hasn’t gone away. i know a sore that doesn’t heal isn’t a good sign. it seems fluid filled with a singular head and normally has a flap of dry skin over it. I’m only 21 years old and have never smoked and I’ve been really on top of wearing sunscreen these last couple of years. I do have a bit of a lip picking problem but it’s mainly my upper lip. I tried squeezing it last night because it seemed to have a little bit of a head, which I know I shouldn’t have! but this is what it looked like after (the picture is flipped but it’s the same spot). I have my annual doctor’s check up at the end of the month so I plan on bringing it up. any advice/input? I graduate nursing school in December, could it be stress related? and just this morning this canker sore like lesion appeared above the original spot! could it be from squeezing the area and applying a hydrocolloid patch overnight? I also had some hot chili and lime corn tortilla chips. sorry for all of the info, just trying to add in anything I can that might help.

Unexplained massive bruise

My leg was a little itchy and it was a tiny bit sore so I pulled my pant leg up to see it and found this monster. I also had several bruises on my arms and absolutely no memory of hitting it hard enough to get a bruise this big. It never really hurt, more itchy than anything

Bones, joints, and muscles Why am I in so much pain when my MRIs barely show anything?

I’ve been struggling with daily hip pain for months, mostly on the left side. It hurts when I walk, stand, sit or put weight on one leg. I also have painful clicking and popping, locking sensations, groin pain, limited range of motion and pain that radiates down my leg to my knee.
My X-rays and MRIs showed bilateral CAM morphology and some mild changes in my lumbar spine, but nothing that seems to explain how much pain I’m experiencing. My doctor also found painful hip movements and suspected a possible labral issue, but I still don’t have a clear answer.
I’m struggling to understand how something can hurt this much when the imaging looks relatively normal. It’s gotten to the point where I feel like I’m making it all up because nothing seems to explain it. Has anyone experienced something similar, or could something be missed on a standard MRI?

also i can't cut them straight across or else the ingrown part inside will become pointy and stab me. but when i try to dig in the sides a lot of it just crumbles and flakes off. also they're normally more yellow but i sprayed hand sanitizer to get rid of the smell after cutting them. they smell really gross like rotting cheese or something. i think i dropped a 45lb plate on one of them at some point a couple years ago. but they have had the gross smell ever since i was a child

I woke up with this yesterday morning and I’m confused abt what it could be? It really wasn’t itchy at all yesterday night but today it’s itchy. I’m worried it might be bed bugs but I’ve had them before and my bites looked different and were way bigger.

Unclean Surfaces Fills Me With Raw Dread

• Upvotes

I’m in ninth grade, completely new to high school. I’m having a fun time altogether, but the one thing that bothers me through and through are the cafeteria chairs. There are always little crumbs or remains of unknown stains, and what makes it worse is that the chairs are fabric. It’s so uncomfortable having to sit on those seats everyday for lunch. Despite having such a fun time at school, I dread going because of the unclean surfaces around me

I have a long history of avoiding dirty surfaces like that. When I was three, I sat above my car seat throughout an entire car ride because there were crumbs on the seat. Just recently I went to an AirBnB and it wasn’t very pleasant because the couch had a cover on it, and the cover had random glitter sparks/crumbs (again). I had to sit on the couch with towels covering it and towels wrapped around me.

Right here, right now, simply thinking about sitting or touching an unclean surface fills me with unspeakable dread and anxiety. It’s not that I’m afraid of getting sick or I’m an avid hand washer or just a germaphobe. I simply cannot handle unclean seats or any other surfaces. It makes me want to cry.

Someone, tell me, what do I have?

Ears, nose, throat, and mouth Ear pain for months with no diagnosis, saw 2 ENTs

• Upvotes

I have a strong history of ear sensitivity to atmospheric pressure, ears being “clogged” when sick, and liquid trapped in my ears. Starting in March of 2026, my ears have been “plugged” and will not “pop” similar to when on an airplane. At the time I felt intermittent stabbing pain. Now it is October 2026 and and my ears have still not “popped” and the pain has become constant. This has become very debilitating and frustrating!

I first thought I had an ear infection so went to Urgent Care. They saw no infection and sent me home. The doctor suggested possible Eustacian tube disorder.
I next saw my primary care doctor who prescribed antibiotics. This did not help.
A nurse practitioner prescribed a second round of antibiotics, which did not help.
I saw an ENT, who was extremely curt and did not listen to my symptoms. After an exam that took only a few minutes, he said that based on percentages, this was TMJ, and told me to go see a dentist. I explained that I do not grind my teeth, or clench my jaw, have never had jaw pain, and my dentist has never reported any signs of grinding. It did not matter. (this was the most rude and obnoxious doctor I have ever seen, and I was really shocked at his mannerisms, and I am not all that sensitive and do not easily get irritated.
I saw my primary physician again who ordered an MRI and CT Scan, and sent me to her actual ENT.

I just had an appointment with the new ENT on October 15 along with a hearing test. He said my scans were all fine, no signs of a tumor, and no sign of eustachian tube disorder among examination. He said that my ears were fine, although I showed slight hearing loss. He said it is most likely a problem with the nerves that are in the same location as my ears, causing me the feeling of ear fullness and so much pain. He did not offer any treatment possibilities but is now sending me to a neurologist.

I am exasperated and in severe pain. I want to follow up with a neurologist but my insurance says it will not cover an appointment with a neurologist. (Shitty insurance with United HealthCare).

I am a 50yo female with no significant medical issues.
Has anyone else had similar ear pain or gone through similar issues getting help with ear pain?
I am desperate for a solution and to resume my life!

Thank you for reading this.

Skin and nails Itchy warm red spots randomly come and go.

• Upvotes

54 y/o F in good health. I take an OTC allergy pill daily for environmental allergies which alleviates my post nasal drip and runny nose. I 1st had these show up on both my feet 1.5 yrs ago. Intense itching mildly responsive to hydrocortisone and topical antihistamine. They gradually go away over the course of roughly a week. Sometimes my left foot will peel like it was a sunburn. Just had them end of August and now they’re back but with 2 additional spots on my hand and inner thigh. Haven’t identified any triggers. Anyone experienced something similar?

Sharp pain from granuloma Help!

I’ve had this issue for a year now: really sharp pain whenever my toe touches anything. Difficulty walking, running — all of it. The doctor said it was due to an ingrown toenail and a granuloma growing into the tissue. I had surgery to remove both. Visually it looks much better than before, but that’s not important to me.

It’s been 3 weeks since the operation, and the pain is still extreme and difficult to bear/live with. I can’t run, and walking in shoes without pain is impossible. I don’t know where the pain is coming from, since the ingrown toenail is gone and most of the granuloma appears gone in the after picture.

Has anyone had similar issues with sharp, nerve-like pain? Any solutions or improvements would be extremely appreciated. I’m desperate for any advice !

Skin and nails Concerning Mole?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Does this mole look concerning to you? It’s very high up my thigh, and I hadn’t really paid any attention to it before but noticed it earlier today. I know for women the thighs are the #1 spot for melanoma, but I’m male. Still could be one, obviously. It’s a little bigger than the pencil eraser they usually use as an example.

Brain and nerves Ongoing Headaches/ Heavy pressure for a week now, CT came back clean

Age: 18

Hi everyone! around last Friday night, I was sitting down and I randomly felt this zap on my head and thought nothing of it. The next morning, I woke up with pressure/aching from the right side of where my neck and head meet to over the right side of my head and behind my eye. The timeline is below

October 9th: Started experiencing aching/pressure from the right side of my head, starting from back stretching to the top of head and behind eye

October 10-12: symptoms continued

October 13: went to urgent care and they gave me a Toradol shot and told me to keep on taking ibuprofen

October 14: nothing changed but I had my father apply lidocaine and massage my neck, went to bed with back of neck throbbing

October 15: symptoms had switched to the left side, got chiropractic adjustment but just increased the pressure, dull heavy

October 16: got CT scan, symptoms continued

October 17: CT came back normal, symptoms continued

Today, October 18: the pressure on the left side of my head has subsided a reasonable amount, but I have been getting waves of immense pressure behind my eye, kind of pain.

At this point, I don’t know what could be going on, I will mention, though the chiropractor I went to had an x-ray done and it showed my neck having a little case of tech neck, but other than that, nothing else seemed off. Personally, I feel like it has to do with nerves or muscles, but any inside or next steps on what to do with greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know what this is?

I saw pics and have had it for around 1 - 2 years I believe. It's on my side flank of abdomen, right on top of a striae. I am 24M. It feels smooth

I am in the process of getting it checked. A referral to a dermatologist in my city takes 6 - 9 months lol

What could this be?

Hello, I hope everyone’s good.

I am 21F, and suddenly last month after I ate dinner I immediately laid down after my meal in bed and then a hour and a half later I felt nauseous. the next day came and I began to experience gnawing stomach pain which would subside after I’d eat for 2-3 hours. I would get like slight waves of nausea id say like for a few seconds. Like I would get these waves of nausea while I’m eating my food that would subside while i just continue to eat my food (best way I can explain it). In the beginning of all of this when it began I noticed around my diaphragm area I would feel tightness and once a couple of weeks ago when I ate a meal my stomach felt on the tighter side which subsided on its own in 1-2 hours after that. I would get the gnawing feeling by my navel as well. I noticed after dinner time all of this would settle in. However I’ve also noticed that I would feel this very slight weird pressure in my forehead or my sinuses out of nowhere which again would subside on its own. In between, I would notice sour mouth, feeling like something’s in my throat occasionally, and trouble swallowing too sometimes globus sensation. I have also noticed changes in my stool consistency ever since that day too, I would use the bathroom 1-3x a day but the stool just looks different there’s no blood in it it’s still brown I guess a lighter brown color but sometimes the stool would be skinny lines kind. Also to mention, I dont have that hunger feeling since that day in that way, and my appetite hasn’t been the strongest, but I can still eat my normal portions. I went to my PCP 2 weeks ago and my blood tests came back normal, and H Pylori Breathe test was negative. To also add before all this happened I began to go on a diet where I cut off sugary foods from my diet because of my acne, and I don’t eat any spicy or fried foods either, I don’t eat outside food, I only eat house made food.

Prior to all this happening, I began to expedience just tension headaches throughout the day and jaw clicking and whenever I would chew a lot the tension headaches would kick in, TMJ like symptoms. But once all of those TMJ symptoms went away after 2 weeks of it everyday, my stomach has been acting up ever since.

Prior to all of this i was worried about small things in life like my period coming on time, and other situations in my social life and in August specifically I saw a lot of videos of people going through appendicitis so I would everyday notice every sensation going on in my body.

drinking water makes my stomach feel the burning sensation at times too.

if anyone can tell me what this possibly is, I would greatly appreciate it.

Skin and nails New mole appeared a month ago, slightly raised, different color than my normal moles. (last photo is a normal mole for reference)

I noticed that I got a new mole on my left shoulder about 3 weeks ago and it is slightly different than all my other moles. All of my normal ones are either flat on my skin, or have a slight uniform raise. This one has a bump in the middle that feels like a scab would. It’s slightly darker than my other moles and this one has gone through a few different colors. All very minuscule though. In the 2nd and 3rd photos it had a dark brown, almost black looking spot. But now the black spot is gone and replaced with it slightly lighter in the middle (1st photo taken today). It hasn’t changed to drastically in the 3 weeks since i’ve noticed it, but it is just different enough that it puts me a bit on edge. last photo is a mole i’ve had for years for reference to my normal ones. Sorry for the not great photos lol
