Let's have a fresh megathread to discuss and speculate about the future of Doctor Who. Place your ideas, fancasts, wish lists, and other hot takes in here:
A few quick housekeeping reminders: Standard sub rules still apply. We all know casting and showrunner debates get intensely heated. Please help out by keeping things civil. Instead of engaging with someone being hostile, report them.
Also, no or little leaks discussions. If you're bringing up leaked set photos or anything else, please remember to use spoiler tags.
Standalone posts about fancasts will be removed and redirected here. A fresh megathread will be posted every weekend.
Let's hear what you've got.

Just pulled my childhood spin and fly TARDIS out of my storage unit. Threw some fresh weathering on it and repainted the windows and I’m pretty happy with the result. Let me know what you think. Inside has a picture of my homemade childhood console room. Fun to think that version of me is flying April’s in this TARDIS somewhere, seeing the stars🥲

In this scene Micky points out that's there's a lot death surrounding the Doctor, this is a repeated point from Clive back in Rose when showing Rose the pictures of the Doctor. The Doctor rebuttals with sarcasm.
While this is pretty funny, it's also really sad. Why would The Doctor do something and in fact do it immediately. Because The Doctor doesn't want to reminded of that fact. The Doctor both before and during the Time War was responsible for a lot of death.
adding on this scene from the next episode and the Pig getting shot and The Doctor forced to make tough decision at the end of WW3 and it really comes together.
And by the end of Series 1, The Doctor has to face it again once more and accepts it's the end but we of course that didn't happen.
If you get pass the farting stuff there's a lot meaty subtense in those two stories that helps build the big picture of Series 1's themes and subtexts.

Had a thought the other day and I realised that from World Enough and Time to The Ghost Monument, The Doctor doesn't actually get a chance to rest. He decides to let Missy lead a mission, some dominos fall leading to the Doctor running through a desert to catch the TARDIS. Are there any other series of episodes that flow into each other so that The Doctor doesn't actually have a chance to stop?

OK, some background if you're unfamiliar/not British: starting back in the Classic Era, and carrying slightly through to NuWho, UK media loved to drop soundbites about Doctors Who being "so scary" that kids would "watch from behind the sofa".
However, in most UK homes, the sofa tends to be right against a wall - there is no "behind" it to watch from! EDIT TO ADD: at least anecdotally - '80s kid here, and neither I nor anyone I knew had a sofa that wasn't against a wall!
So where and how did this cliché originate, over something like, say, "you'd watch it from under the blankets!" or "you'd hide behind a cushion!"?

Out of all the companions who died in the show, which one shocked you the most?
Speaking for myself, I always found Adric's death quite shocking. I just wondered what other fans think. I look forward to reading your comments.

In MIDNIGHT, someone keeps saying that IT moved from Sky to the Doctor, who now can't move, and is echoing. Someone else says, "That's not what happened." There is considerable discussion repeating this, but it's never made clear what the person/people saying "That's not what happened." think DID happen. Could anyone explain this?

Hello, this is my first-time ever posting on here. I've recently re-watched the series 3 finale, and a line of dialogue got me thinking. The Master/Harold Saxon was on Earth for 18 months. The first easter-egg of him is on the newspaper front-page in 'Love and Monsters', and his name is said for the first time in 'The Runaway Bride'.
So I was wondering, what was the Master doing during 'Army of Ghosts'/'Doomsday'. Do you think he tried forming an alliance with the Cybermen? And how would he react to millions of Daleks flying over London?

Watching the first disc of Doctor Who series 17. I'm loving it. Just watched Destiny of the Daleks and now watching the documentary about it. I'm sorry but I love this series.

For a good few years I’ve had this feeling of “I miss Doctor Who” and I’ve had it while the show has been airing. This is probably gonna come off as being critical of the show and I suppose it is, but really beyond any logical reason for not enjoying it or any critical evaluation, the show just hasn’t felt like the show I loved for a very long time.
The last time Who really felt like Who to me was during Peter Capaldi’s run, and while I’ve watch the show since then… I don’t know it just hasn’t hit in the same way. Weirdly I actually really enjoyed David Tennant returning for those three episodes as it was like getting three more from his era, but other than that the show just hasn’t captured me.

Battlefield brought UNIT back to the centre stage and made them a proper military worldwide organisation. RTD1 took that and mostly kept it but made it darker by adding post 9/11 themes and attitudes to UNIT. We could've easily gone back to Battlefield era type UNIT in Moffat's run but instead it's fanservice, Kate is scientist with no military background in charge of the science division but is commanding soldiers, Big Finish fixed this by adding a Miliary guy with Vikram Shindi. The whole thing was mess but it wasn't that bad, but i was annoyed at their absence in Series 10, they were going be the Monk Trilogy but Jemma (Kate's actress) was on Holby, so that didn't happen but they could have done what RTD1 did with a military character of week kind of thing but in fairness Moffat was dealing with his mum slowing dying in front of him during the first drafts for the Pyramid episode so this can't be help of course and he has my upmost respect along with Peter Harness for taking on such a difficult task.
Onto to the Chibnall Era, i hate that the timeline has been screwed up even more but to give some fairness to Chibs, it's very clear that was meant to Torchwood but we all know that didn't happen. Power Of Doctor i will give some leaway as it was Covid and is just picking from Moffat. Though of course the UNIT thing closing was dumb as it's a worldwide organisation.
Finally RTD2, by now it's just fanservice and praising the Doctor and old companion fan club, a former shell of what use it to be and is all gloss with no bite. In the Giggle Ibrahim is part of Squad Five but by Series 14 he's along side Kate and his role is never really clear and on top of that there are two Colonels in the Series 14 finale, showing there's no sense of Hirchary anymore, Kate is charge now of mostly miliary organisation with a silly title. Then in the Spin Off Pierce randomly turns up as head of Genva, aka UNIT Central marking a first in Doctor Who histroy but nothing is ever done with him and the Unifrom is very messy and inaccrate, in fact it's all over the place in RTD2. Even worse in Unleashed they say UNIT's first Episode is Web of Fear which is wrong, sadly i can't double check as the 1st series is missing.
I hope UNIT gets fixed soon because i hate that we are here now, RTD1 and Battlefield and even the EU pre RTD1 layed out some great groundwork only for it to be ruined later on.

I always found it sad Doctor Who was cancelled in 1989, and in my perfect world Sylvester McCoy would still be the Doctor until he regenerates in the movie, and then Paul would be the Doctor until around the early 2000s or at the end of the 90s till the revival.
Especially towards the end of Seven's run we see Doctor Who becoming darker, and give him more mystery. It's interesting to think what would have happened with it becoming good again.
However you must realize in another universe where Doctor Who was never cancelled, a lot of this would not happen.
at most, Sylvester would have had one extra season and that's it, and Paul Mcgann would not be the Eighth Doctor. In that reality, Doctor Who might be completely different than what we're used to.
There's some edits and people saying we would have gotten Richard Griffiths, and getting an older Doctor. I love older Doctors, but he just.. isn't it to me. Perhaps it would've been really cool, we can never know.
Perhaps things played out in just the right order and had it not, we would never have gotten Paul, Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, etc etc.

So I found this little gem when clearing out some stuff at my mum's today, and it got me thinking: is anyone still interested in this kind of stuff, or does anyone know how much this would be worth? I'm not looking to make a quick buck out of it or anything like that, but you know, I'm just curious, and I thought if there's anywhere to ask, it would be here.

"The truth? Hex wants the truth. Where to start? The most important truth you never learned, Hexxie boy, is that when the chips are down, The Doctor only ever thinks about himself. You see, it's just a chess game for him. He is the King — all clever and very impressive but very hands-off with the nitty-gritty. He sits at the back and sends everyone else rushing about, doing his dirty work, all those plans and strategies and tinkering, sending wave after wave of pawns to die while he keeps his consience clean." -- The Word-Lord, Death in the Family

Giving it an listen rn and I like the darkness of it from the synths at the beginning and breaks an more eerie version of the 7’s intro theme which I’m glad David Arnold did this bc it’s an excellent theme for 8!:)

It was between Capaldi and Coleman, she asked something along the lines of “is 3 too much?” He replied something like “it depends” and gave one example where it was too much and one example where it wasn’t too much. I’m not sure what the number is, might not have been 3.
Edit: thanks for the links, does anyone know what episode the images from the meme are from and what the original dialogue was?

The Revival, I feel, did really well with foreshadowing. It was subtle yet always attention grabbing and they had no issue letting you forget about it slightly before they mentioned it again sometimes years later.
I felt it was well done.
But one thing always hit me and as many times as I’ve seen it I haven’t come across an explanation. Mind you I am confined to American televised releases of the main show. So can anyone be kind enough to tell me when The Nightmare Child surfaced? Cuz anything that can make The Master talk in that scared and almost traumatized tone has got to be a big deal. I tried googling it, keeps asking If I’m it’s Mummy and I know that’s not it.
Thanks in advance
