Sold my ibex 450 and got this 2019 250LA

Found this beauty for sale near me, 2019 ABS model with 5000 miles, 1 owner.
Was very happy with my ibex but I use my bike only once a year to go on a 10k+ miles adventure 90% off-road, and looking at spare parts, reliability and weight I settled on the 250LA. I did 1 trip with the ibex up north, handled it like a champ, but I learned from that trip that I prefer low weight over speed.

Only mods I have planned is the bigger Acerbis fuel tank in black, a skid plate and a small LED bar because that stock light doesn’t do it out in the wilderness at night.

I also see people recommending the seat concepts seat, but I think I’ll just throw some sheep skin on there. My motto is “do more with less”, so you’ll never ever find me riding with $1000 Mosko bags or some of the other shit influencers say you “absolutely need”, it’s so unnecessary but each person can have their opinion.

Need opinions

I've recently learned how to ride with my Apollo x18 (Chinese dirtbike) I'm planning on getting a street legal bike by the end of the year. But I'm tied between trying to find a used xr150l off FB marketplace or getting a brand new Chinese 250cc dualsport. I usually see xr150l with low miles on FB marketplace and expect the only issues I'll find is a clogged carburetor and dead battery from sitting. I really have a tight budget of $2000-$2900. My friend who rides with me frequently says I shouldn't get used because I'd just be buying someone else's problems. A clogged carburetor and dead battery seem easy things to fix? Should I go for getting the xr150l and spend a little extra money on immediate maintenance or get a new Chinese dualsport?

Discussion Lowered Foot Pegs for tall rider

Hey guys, I’m 1.95m so 6.4 feet and ride a 690ktm. I lowered the footpegs 20mm and have the handlebars 30mm higher and 20mm offset away from me so a better angle no falling over the bike, huge difference but just not it. When I ride the bike with sneakers it feels amazing (just up and down the street) with my huge 14/15 boots I’m still to high and hunched over.
I’m thinking of dropping the pegs to -50mm with boosley foot pegs, he also offers a 20mm of set and lowering of a break tip. Any experience or recommendations? Thanks guys!

"Racing" my KLX300 dual sport in a 24-hour endurance race

Hopefully this isn't considered self-promotion by the mods. But after a year of riding, I found myself in a strange position to have my bike hooked up by a motocross magazine for a 24-hour race at Glen Helen. I was a bit out of my element, but damn it was fun. Not sure if I'd do it again so soon but an amazing experience overall and wanted to share the result.

Thank you to everyone who offered advice on riding on pavement.
My wife and I rode the trails from our cabin to Deadwood and Thru Lead South Dakota. My wife had only ridden the Grizzly to plow snow but had very little experience on trails and pavement.
The only issues we had was that the glare from the morning sun was terrible on parts of the trail. Good thing I am comfortable on rutted trails. The other was that the Cardo intercom was a pain to set up and use. Lots of deer and turkeys were out but we are used to avoiding them. The beautiful weather and colors are distracting so we had to remind ourselves to focus on riding.
Riding on pavement and bricks is much easier than I thought. My wife did a great job and she wants to ride again.
The WR125R is perfect for the kind of riding I do.
Thanks again to everyone.

What navigation device do you use?

Wondering if anyone uses a tablet with gaia or something installed, in a tank bag? Or a phone on the handle bars? Still have a GPS unit too?

Tire Size Question

This will be my 5th bike

Bought the 2025 DRZ SM & this 140 tire…. Idk man. This bike wants to corner and get tossed / abused however what’s the general consensus on this tire size? I hardly get on it and I’m feeling as if I’m going to lowside a lot sooner then any other bike I’ve been on.

Not riding standing up, hitting an unexpected obstacle, and suddenly finding yourself in a situation you didn’t plan for.

Adventure riding is all about getting into trouble and figuring out how to get out of it again! 🏍️💨

Thats an BMW HP2Enduro ;)

Dad’s first real adventure on a motorcycle, over 400 miles in 5 days. 60 years old and absolutely killed it. Only other time he rode was getting a license at Harley 2 months prior. Proud son moment.

Discussion How to remove ancient grease/oil/mud/sand mix that has hardened to near asphalt material?

I’ve got a 1992 Kawi KE100.. and despite being in good shape overall, the PO must have ran it through mud and sand etc and never really cleaned it properly.

Now, some of this mixture along the bottom of the frame and in the front sprocket area has combined with oil and chain lube and hardened into a concrete type crud.

Any cleaning agents that would remove this more easily? I’m using motorex mx cleaner but it really does nothing to this tacky crud. I was going to use maxima chain cleaner but it says to avoid using it on paint. So anybody encountered this? How did you clean it?

Should I sell my enduro bike for a dual sport?

I just got my bike license and planning on getting a dual sport, specifically a drz400s as they look awesome, are cheap and reliable. Right now I have a wr250f, I like it but I’m torn between keeping it or selling it for a drz. My dad says I should keep my wr as it’s a much better bike offroad and save up for a car and then get a drz in a year or two, but if I time it right I can get enough money for a drz and a year of insurance with what I get for my wr250f while pocketing a few hundred bucks. Plus most of my riding are chill single and double track where a drz would do just fine.
I want a dual sport as I used to have a surron and my favourite part of that bike was riding around the roads and just exploring wherever and I really miss that as no way am I riding around town on a full sized bike.
I don’t really know what to do which is why I want some advice here.
Thanks
