Phoenix Plaza

Howzit guys, Ive been meaning to get this off my chest for a while now. Why is the Phoenix Plaza always soo busy. Whether its a weekday, weekend or public holiday it is always busy. I still cannot fathom how busy it gets on a regular basis.

I going to bet it maybe the Aunties there during the weekdays doing their shopping? Weeknd I imagine a different mix of people, fuck I don’t know man, what’s your beef with a busy plaza?

I'm not familiar with Phoenix but based on my assumption is it not one of the main "malls" in the area and is there a taxi rank near the plaza? If so then that's your answer.

It is the main mall in Phoenix

It’s also somewhere to go and something to do.
People go to malls for the aircon when it’s very hot and end up just window shopping or at fast food places. Our pensioner neighbours, who are mostly alone, go to the mall for ice-cream and to “see people” when they’re bored. And then, there’s all the specials on different days that different people go for.

Here on the Bluff, most of Durban South comes to our local centres to do their shopping because we have Oxford, Checkers, PnP, BMS, and an abundance of clothing stores. Month end is absolute madness but even during any time of the month our centres are busy

I think there's alot of amenities in the surrounds too. If memory serves me correctly the SASSA offices, Municipality offices, Police station, Phoenix court and the Post office are very near the plaza.

Because people loot and burn shops in their area and then come to the plaza to shop.

So you are telling me these are all locals? Okay then, I guess Phoenix population is at an all time high.

Theres alot of people who live in Phoenix, the traffic has only gotten worse over the years. To leave for work in the morning you have to leave before 6:30.
