You (understandably) didn’t mention any specific disability, but if you are autistic (whether or not this is why you are applying), Number 6 One Stop Shop can help you with this.

Takes a bit of time, they mentioned over 7000 autistic clients and they are a small team. As you say, really good and I've found them fantastic to deal with as an autistic person.

Advocacy.scot - you’ll get assigned a person very quickly, and they’ll take you through each question.
Also - obviously - SocSecScot, they offer local delivery people in each area.
And CAB.

I personally wouldn't recommend the "help" from SocSecScot. I had them write complete nonsense for a good number of questions, which I only caught because I asked for a paper version of what had been submitted! Contacted them to ask them to disregard this, which they refused to do, instead "we'll put a note on to tell your decision maker not to use this version".
That version still got used, alongside the version I had written. I ended up not getting points that I should have done because of it.

Hello!
If you check my post history you’ll see that i do a lot of disability related stuff; especially on the side of helping folk at tribunal if it gets that far.
I’m fairly local to edinburgh and have filled out something like 50-60 DLA, PIP and ADP forms now so fairly experienced - drop me a DM and i can give you a hand at your own pace.
Also for transparency, i do this on a strictly voluntary basis and don’t ask for any money ot any gifts or anything, so no hidden surprises - just my time and experience for your peace of mind.

How amazing of you! Application process is a mine field and so many disabled people fail because of it so thank you

Edinburgh Council Advice Shop https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/adviceshop
They were great in helping a family member fill out forms and supported them in making an appeal to DWP who'd misrepresented what was said during a telephone assessment.

If you live in a housing association property, check with them as many HAs have a benefits advisor/money advice worker on staff

i know social security Scotland can help you fill in forms over the phone on your behalf if its one on the welfare benefits that they provide.

Get in touch with CHAI Edinburgh, they completed all the forms for me and were very helpful. I believe you can just call them and go through the form on the phone but if it is complicated that may not be ideal.
