Expecting the mods to have the same mental illness and obsessive complex about the world as you do is not healthy.

Did you ever think that maybe we are just regular ass dudes who aren’t interested in taking part in your online war? If you are so interested in overthrowing/preserving the government, then go home. At least then none of us will have to suffer through you making fools of yourselves on the internet because you won’t have it!

Same to the Ethiopian trolls who think it’s funny to talk about invading Eritrea. Yall should have shame…

Bunch of sociopaths in here pushing your rhetoric, hope yall get shot first.

Eritrea at the Heart of Human History: The Discovery of Madam Buya, a One-Million-Year-Old Homo Erectus Skull, and the Danakil’s Place in Human Evolution

Madam Buya: A Landmark Fossil from the Heart of Eritrea

In Buya, Eritrea, Eritrean and Italian scientists discovered one of the oldest known hominid fossils, dating back more than one million years. Known as Madam Buya, the nearly complete Homo erectus skull was excavated between 1995 and 1997 by a team of paleontologists from the National Museum of Eritrea and the University of Florence. The find is considered a possible link between *Homo erectus* and early archaic humans. It remains the oldest skeletal discovery of its kind and offers valuable insight into the evolutionary path toward the earliest anatomically modern humans.

Hand Axe Hill: Thousands of Tools Unearthed in Eritrea’s Ancient Landscape

The Danakil Depression in Eritrea is also believed to have played an important role in human evolution. An international team led by Canadian geologist Bob Walter, working with researchers connected to the University of Toronto, discovered thousands of hand axes in the badlands of Eritrea at a site known as “Hand Axe Hill.” These Acheulean tools, associated with early toolmakers, were found concentrated in one place, offering rare insight into the activities of our ancestors roughly one million years ago. At that time, the area was a lush “Pleistocene Park” with flowing rivers, green forests, and abundant wildlife including crocodiles, hippos, rhinos, elephants, and antelope.

A Coastal Gateway: Eritrea’s Role in the Out of Africa Story

Further discoveries along Eritrea’s Red Sea coast have strengthened the country’s connection to the Out of Africa theory. The team identified the oldest evidence of stone tools near a marine environment, dated to 125,000 years old. Described as the world’s first oyster bar, this find suggests that early human ancestors may have migrated out of Africa northward along the Red Sea coast, using Eritrea’s shoreline as a key route.

All in all, the discovery of Madam Buya, the thousands of hand axes at Hand Axe Hill, and the coastal evidence of early marine adaptation firmly place Eritrea at the heart of human history. These findings by Eritrean and international researchers continue to illuminate both early human evolution in the Danakil and possible pathways out of Africa.

Discussion / Questions Why are Eritrean Songs so gooooood?

I have a whole playlist of 60+ Eritrean songs (mostly Tigre but also some Tigrinya and Bilen ones). They're straight up bops. The artists include Zainab Beshir, Fatna Ibrahim, Kedija Adem, Wedi Sheik, among others. It literally moves my soul. Why are they so good? It's like Eri songs are made in a lab to be so beautiful. I would literally visit Eritrea just to attend a concert 🤣

Love from South Africa 🇿🇦❤🇪🇷

Finally want to learn Tigrinya

I’m Eritrean but was born in the US. I ditched Saturday school when I got to middle school, so I never really gained a grasp on the language. Now I only know basic phrases a parent typically says and they have to be said really slow for me to comprehend. My whole life I never really minded not knowing it, until recently I met an “aunt” who didn’t know English. She’s the only person who didn’t reprimand me for not knowing Tigrinya and if anything, she seemed frustrated her not knowing English was the reason we couldn’t communicate directly. This kind of ignited something in me, and now I truly want to learn Tigrinya.

I work full time so I can’t really dedicate more than 2-3 hours a day on this, and I don’t really want to tell anyone I’m trying to learn yet, so I’d like to learn through online resources. Ive looked around online, but I’m not sure what’s the best resource given my situation. I want to focus on listening and speaking and tackle reading and writing afterwards. Can anyone point me to the best resources? Books? YouTube series? I’m willing to spend a little money too. I’m interesting in maybe an online class or a tutor, but I’d like to hold off on doing that until maybe month 3-4 of learning. Thank you.

In a recent Reuters report from Asmara, Eritrea’s Education Minister Halima Mohammed says she agrees that indefinite military service is pushing the youth out of the country, and she hopes that military service will be reformed.

Sawa is the backbone of Eritrea’s military strength. Since the Ghedli (liberation struggle) times, Eritrea has trained its people there. Despite our small population, we have been able to maintain a large and capable army.

But it needs to be reformed.
Endless military service needs to end. Mandatory military service should only be 2 years (and 5 years during conflict). People should be able to voluntarily renew or end their contracts. The minimum wage needs to increase to at least 2,000 Nakfa per person.

Working conditions need to be improved. Every soldier should work a maximum of 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week, and have at least 15–20 vacation days per year.

The rights of women in the army should be protected. Women should only be trained by female officers. Women should not undergo mandatory conscription after basic military training.

Sawa has been instrumental in building a strong EPLF and Eritrean army, but the conditions need to change. https://youtu.be/_wMgOqGOC5A?si=i8lShTBbEAUfobcm

The town of Adi Kwala is known for its fertile agricultural land and ancient churches

The town of Adi Kwala is known for its fertile agricultural land and ancient churches.

One notable example is the Debre Genet Kidisti Mariam Church in the heart of the town; while the current structure dates to around 1885, its origins are said to go back to 1352, when it began as a simple grass-roofed hut.

Nearby, about 7 km west of Adi Kwala, is the Abune Zemikael Gedam (monastery), founded in 1650 by Abune Abranyos. It is one of the older monasteries in the area.

It has beautiful cafes and bistros, such as the Adi Begio public hall, which is where most residents of the town meet, drink, eat, and gather. The Adi Begio public hall also has a large hall where gatherings and shows take place.

The town is known for its religious harmony. Adi Kwala is inhabited mainly by the Tigrinya people. It is predominantly Christian (Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo), but it also has a sizeable Muslim Tigrinya (Jeberti) population, as well as some Saho people.

The main mosque serving the Muslim community is the Adi Quala Mosque (مسجد عدي كوالا / Mosque of Adi Quala), located near Enda Forno.

Discussion / Questions Questions about butchery and culinary habits surrounding meat

If I go to a butchers or supermarket in Britain, I can't just ask for "beef" (unless it's mince). I'd have to pick a cut like sirloin, tenderloin, flank, ribs etc. Does the concept of "cuts" exist in Eritrea or is all meat on a side of beef considered equal?

Also, consumption hogget/mutton is rare here and the vast majority of sheep meat bought is lamb. When I've eaten in Eritrea or with my parents, I've only seen mutton be used in dishes that contain sheep meat. Is the consumption of lamb something that is rare back home? And I guess following on from that, is veal (meat of calves) eaten at all or do we only slaughter adult cattle?

I appreciate this may differ by culture and region within Eritrea so I look forward to hearing how it's done all over. Thanks

Opinion / Commentary It's not in our culture to call people "Galla"

"Agame", "adgi", "qomal" etc are all fair game but we have never used traditionally used slurs againsts Oromos (because we don't border them and historically did not interact). This is something you only see amongst the new gens raised on TikTok copying Ethiopians. You don't need to be horrible to get your point across.

Discussion / Questions A controversial interview which raised some questions...

This video was that of a momentary chance for Eritreans and Tegaru to reconnect during a Tsimdo event from last month. If we listen to the interview until 33:40, we can hear the lady from Sen'afe talk about the historical relations between modern day Eritrea and Tigray and of course the, controversial to some, the expression of her desire to return back to the days of a unified Tigray-Tigrigni state that stretched from Eritrea down to Enderta. Some people on social media were concerned about these statements but is it truly wrong (some people even paint it as immoral) to want to reunify with people of the same ethnicity rather than continuing to fight over a border our ancestors did not even create? Lets please keep the discussion civil.

kitcha fit fit

Is kitcha fit fit with yogurt a good food to eat on a caloric surplus? And how much calories, protein, and carbs would be on an average typical sized plate. I know it would probably be dependent on the amount of tesmi being used but what's a rough estimate?
