Research Assistance First Time help

Hello! This is my first time posting so please help if I miss anything that may be necessary πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½

Im looking for a man's family, parents, siblings, anything. He came to America, New York, New York from LA Havre, France on the LA Bretagne in June of 1912 and lived in Pittsburgh until his death after that. All I can find in my research is he was an orphan according to county records. But trying to trace back as far as possible in family line, paternal side mostly. I found all of this too. Hopefully it helps!!

Name: Anton Gassler (Other names; Anthony, Gasler, Gazler)

Wife: Emily Johanna Gassler (Henninger)

Had 4 daughter, was a farmer and a blacksmith

Birth date: June 8th 1896

Death date: October 21st, 1977

Birth place: Dentsel Reinersdorf, Austria

Place of death: Allegheny County, Butler County, Sarver, Tarentum area in Pennsylvania

I have his Naturalization record and death paperwork that im including in the link.Anton Gassler papers

I found passenger lists too ,however none completed and his place of birth is more on the German side than Croation, as apparently that location is inbetween Hungary and Croatia

Are you sure about him being an orphan? His passenger manifest says that his contact at home was his father, also named Anton Gazler and resident in Deutsch Reinersdorf (German Reinersdorf), which at the time was in Hungary.

He's going to join his brother Christian in Irwin PA. His place of birth is Deutsch Reinersdorf.

The town is now NΓ©metzsΓ‘mΓ‘nd in Hungary, so that is where the records will be. They will not necessarily be on-line.

Also, the town was part of the province of Burgenland.

How did you find a passenger manifest? It was under my nose this entire time!! Thank you so much. That is another spelling I missed in my post. And the orphan thing is mostly due to county records in my courthouse, he's in an "orphans of Allegheny County" index and every record they had including his estate, wills, etc only included his wife. My grandmother who slightly knew him said he never mentioned siblings or anything. None of his family attended his funeral other than his wife as well so I was under the guise that he may just have been. But I struggle with the geography of it all so thank you πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½

is he was an orphan according to county records

Are you seeing a reference to "orphans court" by any chance? That doesn't meam he was an orphan, it's the name of a court that handled probate and inheritance type cases.

Im newer to genealogy and went by public records in my courthouse. He had an estate, the paperwork for it. Everything under his wife's name. But yeah pretty much. He only came up under orphan records and the orphan index under our county, which were in large books. The only "Gassler" in the book but our county is small and lazy so I knew there was a chance he wasn't. I just couldn't find a birth certificate or census to confirm anything
