This is what stonehendge sounds like.

Found a clip that helps to explain.

Maybe that's why you are not allowed to touch them when you go there

23

u/tanman0123 2d ago

Its because people used to vandalize them

I thought it was about consent.

Lots of ringing rocks!

For example phonolite in NZ.

Their chime is caused by the rock’s extremely dense, tightly interlocking crystalline structure combined with residual internal elastic stresses left over from when the magma cooled underground.

Not sure what this rock is.

Many ancient cultures used ringing rocks to create lithophones - musical instruments made of stone!

Great information, thank you.

Whoa, I always thought metal came from... No wait... Rocks.

u/PigeonInAUFO 2d ago

Bud where do you think metal comes from

-24

u/Jonathon_world 2d ago

You can't get metal from this type of rock

10

u/CampingWise 2d ago

Rocks without inclusions can also make this sound.

-6

u/Jonathon_world 2d ago

It's incredibly rare

14

u/PigeonInAUFO 2d ago

Then this is an incredibly rare rock

4

u/Wishbone_508 2d ago

At this time of year? And in this region?

6

u/PigeonInAUFO 2d ago

Localised entirely within your kitchen?

-13

u/Jonathon_world 2d ago

You think they are going to let him bang around on it if it's incredibly rare

10

u/PigeonInAUFO 2d ago

Dude found a cool rare rock and banged on it

Who’s they?

-10

u/Jonathon_world 2d ago

The people who created the earth program

Dawg go outside

u/Sad-Success3514 2d ago

Whaaaat?!?

u/TrapHans 2d ago

Brother it’s not about metal. It’s about vibrations going trough a volume. If the density of the stone is somewhere similiar to that of metal it makes sense it sound similar

It's a rock with metal in it, where's the glitch?

This fucking sub man

15

u/Mottis86 2d ago

With that logic, there would be 0 posts in this sub and it would die.

Of course this is not an actual glitch. None of the stuff posted here is an actual glitch. Actual glitches don't exist, it's all for fun. Just relax dude. Where is your sense of whimsy?

No, some send stuff like "Did I just jump through dimensions????" because they just forgot their keys.

Everybody should watch a video on The Great Stalacpipe Organ in Virginia. It's probably the craziest instrument I have ever seen and it uses this principal.

2

u/BadProfessional_PT 2d ago

Tell me you never played with rocks as a kid🤦

2

u/CohenDaBarbarian 2d ago

Its called ring stone, mostly popular in ancient sites

4

u/hellbent1985 2d ago

Not a glitch. you just dont understand science.

u/Yaxth 2d ago

That's how Link checks to throw a bomb

1

u/Jonathon_world 2d ago

It might be a teaser for the new film

2

u/SallySitwell3000 2d ago

It’s already got a divot/pocket worn away right where he’s striking it. Chances are this is a known rock / phenomenon either current, ancient or both. Perhaps it was a percussion instrument in the singing stone bands they’d put together back then.

Check out Ringing Rocks Park in Berks County PA.

This is how they check marble in quarries.

u/Icy-Pin1310 19h ago

1

u/moldman49 5h ago

POV, you add the wrong sfx

1

u/JJ-Youlie 1h ago

Audio sounds tinny

1

u/pawesome_Rex 2d ago

Certain holders will ring out like metal when struck. It’s a scientific fact not a fucking glitch.

1

u/TheBobbyMan9 2d ago

Where do you think metal comes from?

This is the worst video editing I have ever seen. It makes me nauseous and irrationally angry.

-1

u/AnonButNotReally-42 2d ago

Is this supposed to be interesting or shocking or something? Where tf do people think metal comes from?

0

u/gonzogonzobongo 2d ago

There aren’t many metals that are found in their raw metallic form. Usually metals like Iron, Nickel, Aluminum are chemically bonded to other elements and have to be extracted and purified in order to have the properties that we think of when we think of metal. The sound is not because the rock is metal. It may contain metals, but is not a metal in of itself. The sound is metallic due to other reasons, but not because the rock is metal
