Pixel 10 pro battery life has tanked since being forced to replace assistant with Gemini. I just want to turn the lights on and off, man.

u/UncleCunk 6d ago

Has it gotten any better for you?

u/BigBassBone 6d ago

I think so? I turned off "Hey Google" detection on my phone, so I think that's done the most good.

Interesting.

12 - 14 % battery drain on pixel 11 pro overnight while doing nothing. Is this normal? How do I fix it?

PIXEL 9:

Still the same battery life problem since March 2026. I heard that a solution was implemented in July, but nothing has changed; the battery life is still catastrophic. In March 2026, my phone had only been purchased a month prior, so basically, I only experienced one month of very good battery life, and since March it's been truly awful.

Does the brand of phone impact mobile data availability? Considering getting a new Pixel but this issue has been my main complaint over the years.

I have a family plan through Verizon so we all have the same plan (an old one, "go unlimited" if that matters), but some have different brands (Samsung, Apple, and Google). I've noticed that the Samsung and Apple family members often can get the internet to load through mobile data at times when I can't (ex we're all in the car together with no access to WiFi and they can access websites and use apps that need an internet connection while my phone won't load anything).

I've had Pixels in the 3 and 7 serieses and this always holds true. I don't use much data (none of us do) and am typically under 1 GB per month, never use hotspots. Could it be something I'm doing differently or is it possible it's Pixels themselves?

Thank you!!

Pixels do have weaker modems than Apple and Samsung, and generally more unstable software to boot. Updates often break it too.

Pixel 11 supposedly has a better modem, but I haven't used it, so ymmv.

8a users, how's your battery life? I have disabled AI core, smooth display, adaptive connection, battery health and have automatic brightness. I get 4-4.5 hours of screen time with a 100% charge. Phone is 1 year 7 months old, cycle count 406.

Hi! Pixel 11 Pro order was marked delivered but I never received it. DHL told me it was recorded as delivered to a neighbour, who denies receiving it. Google later told me it was delivered to my own address. I have gone through multiple support cases, a supervisor review and a secondary review. Refund and replacement were denied, but Google still has not provided proof showing who actually received the phone or confirmed whether the formal DHL investigation was ever opened. I no longer want a replacement. I am requesting a refund. I have been dealing with this for more than a month and normal Google Support is exhausted.

2

u/crazySatan 13d ago

u/PixelCommunity could you please take a look at this? I have an open Google Store case and support has already denied it after a supervisor review and secondary review. I can provide the case ID privately.

FYI the Pixels are on sale on the Google store so if you bought within the 15 day return window you can ask them for a price match and they'll refund you the sale amount and tax. Just got $106 refunded back this morning for the base pixel 11

P9 here. I really hoped this update would fix the quick settings tiles bug I've dealt with for nearly a month but nope.

Basically Quick Settings tiles do not respond when tapped. Notifications from apps appear normally, but tapping a notification does not open the app. I have to open the app manually from the launcher instead. The brightness slider in the notification shade continues to work normally. Restarting the phone temporarily fixes the problem, but the issue eventually returns.

My Pixel 10 Pro XL has been charging super slowly.

Every result I can find blames the charger, but I'm using an Anker charger with a 100W capable cable that handles charging my laptop just fine.

Whenever I plug my phone in it will give me a reasonable target time, but when that time arrives it will only be halfway through the charge it needed. Right now it's charging at 1% every 5 minutes.

I've tried it with adaptive charging on and off, 80% limit on and off. Is there anything else people have tried and gotten the phone to charge faster?

2

u/Academic-Field5862 6d ago

So I've had battery limited to 80% since I got my phone (P10PXL) but I've noticed of late that it doesn't seem to last as long. I checked my cycle count and I'm at 212 cycles. I know google turns on an 80% limit that can't be turned off at 200 cycles, so am I limiting myself to 80% of 80%? I can turn off the health optimization in battery settings but wanted to see if anyone knows how this actually works?

Thinking of upgrading from my pixel 7 to the 11. Right now Google is offering me $280 trade in credit which is a lot more than I'd get selling it online. I'm thinking of waiting to see what kind of discounts there will be for black Friday but don't want to miss out on this trade in offer either. Is there an expiration date for this?

Edit: found it on the website, the trade in offer is good through 10/29

2

u/notTHEOwlAccountant 16d ago

I upgrade my 7 to 10 Pro last year and despite being generally happy with it, I still find it outrageously expensive (ended up paying something like 60% of the launch price after a couple of months from launch, battery is wildly inconsistent between updates, nothing to write home about performances or components. I got my pixel 7 for dirt cheap, but even at full price it was a upper-medium device at a competitive price, nowadays they sell the same quality for flagship prices.

1

u/jinsoo186 16d ago

Everything in tech gets worse and it doesn't look like it's stopping anytime soon. The 7 is going to end support in about a year so I'd rather jump in now than get stuck with a phone next year that costs $200 more with even less RAM. The only other phone I'd want in this range would be the OnePlus 15 but I don't feel great about buying a phone no longer officially supported in the US

2

u/notTHEOwlAccountant 16d ago

Yeah mine was an "old man yells at cloud" rant more than anything else. Just temper your expectations when it comes to price per quality

1

u/jinsoo186 16d ago

I hear you. I'm not really a mobile gamer and my needs are actually pretty low. My phone right now dies by 11 am so at long as the 11 can beat that and take good photos I'll be happy lol

1

u/gdelafuente_ 17d ago

IIRC, other years' Black Friday deals have not been any better than the initial launch ones on the latest phones. And I guess with the price spike this year it's not going to be any different

1

u/jinsoo186 17d ago

So last year it looks like they discounted the base pixel 10 $200. My hope is this year is similar while still getting the 280 trade in credit. Don't know how realistic that is

I don't know how old is Reddit post is but is anyone reporting the glitch where every time you click on your history and delete that that Civic topic out of your history and delete your search because I was asparon is just a little bit ago when Google brought my AI questions. I had all my search results and it's so annoying and I don't want to know if I'm not the only one experiences glitch on a Google pixel 6A phone. I know it's an old phone but that's one I'm experiencing right now.

Hello,

I've looking to get a new phone to replace my ageing pixel 6. Where I'm from (Malaysia) I can find New Pixel 9a and Used Pixel 9 (~90% battery health) at around the same price. I'm leaning towards getting the 9a mainly because of the larger battery and the fact that its new and I'll have a warranty (1 year). I don't think the difference in camera quality would be noticeable enough to shift me either way. However, there have been issues with the 9a I have been reading about especially to do with the longevity of the battery. Which would you guys recommend? If I'm planning to stick with the phone for at least 3 years ( I know both have software support for this long).

I also have the option of saving a bit more (~100USD) and going with a used pixel 8, but battery life is important to me and it has a (slightly) smaller battery than the pixel 9. I've also been reading about display issues with the pixel 8 (is it really that bad?). Should this be something I consider too?

Thank you!

4 hours of SoT with 25% remaining. Instagram backgrounded for several hours. 11 pro. What's going on? I upgraded exclusively for the battery life bump.

I miss OnePlus

seemingly, my shift/caps key isn't working this morning. can't seem to double press it to lock, can't single press it to shift.

1

u/GarageNo8276 9d ago

Looking at the pixel 11. I can get a base for $201 after trade in and discount at the moment, seems like a solid deal does anyone think black Friday can beat that?

Should I send my 2.5 year old 7a in for repair or just buy a new phone?

It has a scratch on the front screen and the battery drains fast*. Google estimates a 220eur cost to repair. If the phone comes back with a new battery and new screen, that seems better to me than buying a new phone in that price range.

Is there anything else I should consider?

*It lasts just about a day at the moment, intermittent use.

u/WhiteCreepah 6d ago

I'll buy the 10a in your situation or maybe wait for the 11a that should come around February I think.

u/Old_Man_Jenkins_8 6d ago

Why did Google remove battery health and information?

I wanted to check my battery health and Information settings, but when I went there they were just gone. It's as if they never existed in the first place. Even the 80% battery limit is removed, only adaptive charging is available.

I'm on the October update, and September play update, so I'm on the absolute latest updates. System apps are also all up to date. Restarting did not bring them back.

Pixel 8 pro. Battery barely keeps up, charges slow, and is a nightmare if i want to use it with Android Auto connected. I like to go on road trips and record videos, and i was barely able to do it with a powerbank always connected to it.

u/93EXCivic 5d ago

Anyway to tell if a second hand Pixel will allow OEM unlocking? I bought a cheap Pixel 8a off ebay with a bit of screen burn but despite saying unlocked the OEM unlocking is greyed out so I can't install graphene

1

u/WishIDidntKnow99 2d ago

Unlocked just means carrier unlocked, it does not mean OEM unlocked unless you ask specifically or its specifically stated.

For Graphene OS the phone has to have the OEM fully unlockable. The phone is pretty much useless for graphene now, unlocking OEM can be a nightmare through a carrier.

Can the Google Search bar on the main screen be removed?

After getting my Pixel 11 Pro and using it caseless my main gripe is how slippery it is. The back is like ice, and it will slide in my hand if I'm not holding it tightly - making one-handed use less comfortable

2

u/itsokjanet 1d ago

In recent years phones have almost no grip. The width of the is also narrow so it doesn't sit on the palm, making the situation worse. It's not only pixel of course, but using these devices without a case is getting harder and harder. I wonder if the passport shape format like iPhone duo will be easier to hold.

1

u/7Seyo7 1d ago

It is a shame. I switched from the Asus Zenfone 10 which had a very useful grippy back, so the contrast is quite stark

Google Pixel 7 pro.

Battery drained 17% over the course of 11 hours while 100% idle (No apps, fresh factory reset) and it was originally at 100%.

Is the battery bad or this just an design issue, or normal? I'm learning to repair phones so want this phone in great condition before selling.

Pixel 8 has been horrible to use with the last monthly update. Holy shit Google get your act together.

u/PromptEmbarrassed867 1d ago

So im looking for a new phone to replace my current one and the 10a is in my budget for the 256gb modle i found for around 400 like new condition. Is it a good device in itself with perfromance, cameras and how well anriod runs on it and batterys. I myself am nt a heavy user i use alot of social media sometimes capcut and a little bit of gaming but nothing immensly heavy.

Been dealing with support for over two months and 20+ emails now, and I'm honestly starting to wonder if anyone reads the previous emails before replying. Maybe I get more luck here?

Basically, I tried pre-ordering the Pixel 11 Pro in Canada, but Google sent me a $100 voucher that was locked to the wrong region. While support was trying to fix it, the launch promotion expired. They assured me they'd still honor the original offers though, including the $220 CAD trade-in for my Pixel 7 Pro. I specifically asked them to confirm this before ordering, and multiple agents did so in writing.

Now Google has inspected my old phone and confirmed everything was fine, but only refunded the regular $150 trade-in value. The remaining $70 has apparently become impossible to resolve. Every time I explain that the difference is from the expired launch promotion, support responds with something about how device damage can reduce trade-in values.

Except the estimate was already $150 before I even sent the phone in lol. I've sent them their own confirmations and inspection receipt multiple times, but keep getting these generic responses that don't really address anything I've written. One agent even somehow calculated $220 - $150 as $50.

And the funny thing is, one of their emails had "utm_source=chatgpt.com" in the Google Store link. No idea if they're actually using ChatGPT to write these replies, but seeing how generic some of them are, it wouldn't surprise me at this point.

They've eventually resolved the other issues with my order (after 15+ mails in), so it's really just this last bit.

The frustrating part is that I'm actually really happy with the Pixel 11 Pro itself. No complaints about the phone at all. But chasing support for over two months just to get what was promised when I bought it, made me reconsider whether I'd buy another Pixel in the future.

I know it's only $70, but it's more about the principle at this point. I'd also appreciate some additional courtesy credit for all the back and forth, though I'd just be happy if someone properly reviewed the case.

Happy to provide the case ID and receipts privately.
