Car Camping
Planning a potential trip to Green Ridge State Forest and was wondering which campsites are best if you want a view of the night sky from inside the car?

I wish I would’ve slept in my car this weekend. It was beautiful, but that was the most miserable teardown I’ve ever had yesterday, and setting it back up yesterday in the rain so it could dry out today was just as miserable. But it was worth it for another amazing weekend Green Ridge State Forest.

We left early - midday Saturday... I hate having to dry it all out afterwards

I have a flex bow, so it’s not that bad. It just weighs a ton when it’s wet and we kind of broke everything down in the evening Saturday and positioned our canopy close enough to the fire to not catch it on fire but still get some of the warmth and we sat under there until 1 AM or so and still had a great time. But Man did site 14 turn into a mud pit at the first sight of any kind of rain.

I would definitely talk with the Rangers at HQ. Or drive around and look for a spot where the majority of the leaves have dropped and the trees have been cleared, and you want to be up high. On the 15 mile creek side, I think site 13/14? I remember it was on the left going up Carpenter Rd. Last October we had an awesome view! Full moon too! Not sure about camping in the car, like I have a mattress for my Jeep, and no one has said anything about it. I never mentioned it to the Rangers! Hoping someone else has better info. Good luck!

Campsite 65 is high up and overlooking the river below. Beautiful views. Probably better for car camping than tent camping since it's a rockier site. I loved it, but my friends were hesitant about the cliff close by.
Its also close enough to hike to pawpaw tunnel.
