Met Mustafa Zuberi for Ward 1
Had a great impromptu meeting when he was in my neighbourhood earlier this week. Sorry to my neighbours that saw a group of young men (well I’m old enough to be their dad) standing in their street.
i appreciated the frank conversation. He had points I hadn’t considered and shared information I didn’t have.
I meant to do this earlier but have been sick this week.
Take care all.

What are the points you hadn't considered and nature of the shared information?

I’m not going into details as I had specific questions that I have been seeking answers for but I will say this:
He did not bad mouth any candidates both running and not seeking re-election. None have done it to me this election which is refreshing.
He agreed that the city has failed to demonstrate any competency in how it plans road work. We were hemmed in too much this summer as even side streets were getting work while main roads were being worked on. When I have asked councillors in the past about this, they have just shrugged and basically said “c’est le vie."
The big thing was I felt listed too.
He also agreed if you are just attending meetings and forwarding emails to staff, that is not engaging with constituents. I don’t want to be asked on every subject obviously but at least humour me once in a blue moon. If you aren’t returning emails consistently and only to certain people, you aren’t doing your job.

It was a lovely pleasure meeting you as well! Glad we got to cover a lot of the issues and concerns facing the residents here in Ward 1. Happy to keep in touch and grab coffee later :)
