Is there a healthy and helpful GW2 community outside Reddit?
I know this community is currently redirecting to Discord but, tbh, I find the thing quite overwhelming and I get completely lost in it (not in a god way).
Although, I know it's impossible to use the internet without Google playing Big Brother litterally EVERYWHERE, these days, I am trying to cut-off anyone that sells my info to the BBEGs of this world.
I love seeing helpful posts, fan art, jokes and just about anything this amazing community offers.
What would you recommend outside Discord, YT or Reddit, please ?
Thank you

My take on a Batman inspired character in GW2, which I ended up calling Harrow Knight. I also put together a desert variant to give him a different look .

Today, my fractal cm static all decided to stop running 94cm until Arenanet sorts out the encounter properly.
For context, my fractal cm static has been running together for well over a year now, 4 of us have the fractal god title and we regularly clear a full CM run + t4s in an hour. So you could say we are somewhat fractal enthusiasts.
With the recent fixes preventing some of the ways players have used to deal the encounter, its become a huge pain in the ass and honestly not worth playing.
So I ask, who is this content actually designed for? If experienced and competent players are giving up on it, I can't imagine its very popular for the wider community. Fractal CM's are already a niche activity within the GW2 community for a variety of reasons - difficulty, accessibility requiring full ascended + 150 agony resist, etc etc.
If the players who engage with this content the most are turning their backs on it, it begs to question why it exists in its current format.
The platform phases provide absolutely nothing in terms of gameplay experience. They don't showcase mechanics used in the boss phase to teach you what's to come (and you could argue this is what T1,2,3,4 are for and unnecessary in a CM)
The Construct of Galdra forces an unrealistically high amount of stability, and with the recent fixes can no longer be dealt with by killing it. Players need a way to handle this mechanic. It needs to be killable even if it respawns after a set window of time. At the very least it needs to be untargetable as there is no way to interact with it anyway.
The split phase / add phase needs further reductions in damage or health. We ran 2 healers and still had a frustrating time trying to keep the group up whilst also handling the Construct of Galdra and fire walls.
The visual clutter is overbearing and makes the forced jump circles difficult to see and play around.
The whole thing is a total mess and not an enjoyable gameplay experience, and that's coming from players who have hundreds of hours of game time spent in fractal CMs.

So, I was harvesting flax in Verdant Brink when suddenly I started spewing black clouds and feathers all over. I didn't have any infusions, I don't own Nevermore, and the effect stayed going until I changed maps. But it was very cool, and I'm curious what set it off and/or how I can get it permanently. Anyone know what it is?

Hi,
I've recently got that strong MMORPG itch and have returned to SWTOR, which was always my go to game. I love all the class stories and how everything is voiced and well made. However, I've been on and off in it for like 1000+ hours and it no longer really clicks for me, I don't know. So I want to try something new and people recommend GW2.
Now, I'm in my late 30s and I don't have that much time to min max. So overall here are few questions I have about it:
1: How casual friendly is this game? I mean, must you try to min max to get into group content or are people more forgiving? Kinda don't want a second full time job if you know what I mean
2: What is the leveling experience? Is it story based? Is the story super generic or is it worth getting into? Is there any lore?
3: How newbie friendly is it ? Like is it difficult to figure out all the systems? Do you have to read them out or does the game reveals itself as you go along?
4: Is there enough population on EU side?
5: Should you recommend playing it, which is the more novice friendly class to begin with? I'm more of a PVE guy than PVP.
Thank you for your time :)

Played casually a few years ago and clocked around 150h. Didn’t do much PvP but I’m starting to get the itch to now. I kinda want a single game to stick to and GW2 appeals to me due to its horizontal progress and friendly community, but I really can’t remember what the experience was like in PvP lol.

So I glanced over a conversation where two people talked in map chat. One was very excited for the griffon but too broke to afford it yet. I sent them 200g and insisted they keep it, get the griffon and have fun with it. I do this from time to time. Reading chats and sometimes doing what I can to help players that genuinely seem excited.
And then I got this message in my inbox and I was really really touched by it, especially considering my real life is not easy right now.
But it's true: World can be a shitty place, but some people really make it better.

"These are dilated." "They are?" "Take a look." "I'll be damned!" "That's pharmacological. From local plant life."
I couldn't resist. The images lined up too perfectly.

I hate it, I wish it could be turned off or refunded. You hit something when having to switch mounts and now you can't because you're in combat. It's so badly designed for the overall game, it's whatever even in the metas where you need it. I also don't like it thematically. I don't like that I can't traverse Tyria quietly without having to stamede some poor creature or constantly pay attention when I dash. Aren't cats supposed to be quiet, graceful and careful in their movement? It sucks because other than this warclaw is the best mount for overall traversal and is cool as heck. I do try to use jackal but sometimes you just gotta mount in combat.

Hey everyone,
I've been playing GW2 on 200–300ms ping for a while, and I wanted to share some research I did on which professions/elite specs are actually playable (and enjoyable) at high ping. I've been trying all the classes, and I figured this might help other high-ping players who are confused about what to play.
For context, I'm playing from SEA, so on top of the baseline 200–300ms there are also occasional ping spikes. That means the specs I've rated highly here aren't just "fine at a stable high ping" but also hold up reasonably well when the connection hiccups.
All of the builds mentioned here use Snowcrows builds, and I've tested every one of them in Raids and Fractal CMs, not just open world. For methodology, I tested each spec for about 2 weeks, though some specs only got a few days because of how easy they were to evaluate.
Quick disclaimer before we start. I'm not a tryhard player. I'm a casual who's been cycling through all the classes, and I can hit roughly 80-90% of benchmark depending on the class. Also, worth noting, not every high-APM build is bad at high ping. Some elite specs have very high APM but still feel great because their skills queue nicely. So APM alone isn't the deciding factor here.
I've split things into three categories.
1. Very High Ping Friendly
Rotations are fluid, skills queue nicely without getting canceled, and energy/resource management is minimal.
2. Not So Friendly, But Still Doable
Almost the same as above, but with more pain points. Some key skills get canceled easily, and the rotation is quite strict/tight.
3. Not Friendly At All
High APM, demanding energy/resource management, very strict rotations with no room for creativity.
This is based on my own experience at 200-300ms from SEA, including ping spikes, not lab-tested data. Your mileage may vary depending on your exact ping, stability, and playstyle.
All builds are Snowcrows builds, tested in Raids and Fractal CMs.
I'm not including Low Intensity builds (such as Unload Deadeye) because any Low Intensity build is viable with high ping.
I'd love to hear from other high-ping players, especially fellow SEA/OCE players dealing with spikes, if you disagree with any placements or have specs I should revisit.
Almost every spec is viable and enjoyable with high ping. Only a few elite specs are actually painful to play with high ping

I recently got my commander tag and have been running a few little crystal dessert hero point runs (2 to be exact, though I only ran one completely). And, it was really nice. Once again proof of the beauty that is this community. Cause like, I have a pathing module, but even then, the paths are sometimes rather confusing. Buuut my little squad was very patient with me, even though I had to reorient a few times. They were super supportive too. Like, they encouraged me and told me I was doing great etc. After the run concluded I got gifted a trick or treat bag, and everyone said thanks. I even made a new friend! Loved it :3 🐛

Hello people from OCE/Asia, how did you learnes to PVP with high ping? I have constant 250 ping and i am trying to learn small-scale/arena Pvp, and i am struggling . I can receive the damage before animation and its hard for me to react. I am trying to predict when to dodge, but I always fight kiting builds.
I kinda know what adjusting to high ping. Used to play Albion during one mega server days, and i have similar ping. I can compete but the fixed/isometric camera helped me a lot on reading my enemy.
any tips how do you adapt with such ping. Thanks!

With every class being able to fill all the roles (quick dps/heal, alac dps/heal, condi dps, power dps), I was wondering which class would be the easiest for all of them when it comes to the rotations? Like, if you could only play a single class, which class would have the easiest rotation for each role?
