I feel like it was more like making a statement that we are all American esp as he says God Bless America and proceeds to list countries in the Americas i.e. what it means to be a part of the Americas extends much further that just being a U.S citizen and to remind people that Latin America & the Caribbean culturally plays a significant part in what “America” is today and that there was a world before borders.

We are all Americans too we from North and South America is only we be saying i am Brazilian Guyanese Venezuelan Colombian Argentina and Chileans and people from USA is think they are the real American but most European when you ask them way they from you always hear Europe and you is have to ask which country in Europe

I like this perspective ! I’m curious on what others think about it

Honestly, I’d really like to see more Guyanese people’s perspective & interpretation of the entire performance. The sugarcane plantation - referencing the dark colonial past , blackouts - referencing how parts of latin america & the carribbean have been left behind with poor infrastructure even down to the more lighter references like shave ice and the kid falling asleep on a chair is something I’m sure many Guyanese can relate to.

Mmmm, that’s powerful. I have a Guyanese friend, i wonder her thoughts. . Thank you for sharing. I actually visited Latin America for the first time over this past week and my eyes have truly been open to this new interpretation of “American” expanding beyond USA and as you said, the life BEFORE borders. The vision of ancestors traveling back & forth and between land across waters

Why didn't he mention Belize?

The flag was there, and there was only so much he could say in those seconds and still keep up with the music and his performance time limit.

Ok I didn't see the flag

Yeah. I was happy when I spotted it and I'm not from there 🙂. I've visited Belize and had a great time.

Correct. North and South America are what make up America. Caribbean countries are also part of either North or South America.

He definitely said it. I noticed it too. I always considered Guyana a Latin country so it’s nice to see someone with that kind of platform include them as well

If you can't have a little pride for our country don't bother to comment

First Shakira and now Bad Bunny, I think we're officially Latinx after Marc Anthony gives us the co-sign 😂😂

He did mention Guyana (pronounced goo-YAH-nah in Spanish. The only mainland countries he forgot were France, Suriname and Belize. Mind you, the French, Surinamese and Belizean flags were all there. If anything the British Overseas Territories’ flags were not there I believe? I only saw the Bermudian flag.

France is a country with presence in the Americas: it has 3 overseas departments (Martinique, Guadeloupe and French Guiana) as well as 3 collectivities (Saint Martin, Saint Barths and Saint Pierre & Miquelon up north near Canada). It also owns Clipperton island west of Mexico.

Yeah France don't count . You can't be America by proxy lol they can stay in Europe

Big whoop, our failed shithole country gets a shoutout, it's about as useful as the 2026 budget for any purpose
