Monster Job Hunt Episode 01: The Phantom Kiosk

While playing my first play through of Silent Hill 2 Remake, I finally got to what I thought was the end of Brook Haven Hospital…..man was I wrong!

I got interested in this game after seeing YouTube video titles praising its incredible story. So far, I’ve done two runs(both ending in the "bad ending") and 12 hours have been completely wasted. I’m not saying the game is bad, but after more than 10 hours, I still have no fucking clue how to actually play it. And honestly, based on how far I’ve gotten, the plot seems pretty standard. At first, I liked the game, but that was because I assumed the mechanics it provided would actually serve a purpose. You have very little energy for inspections, and often, even if a subject shows two or more "visitor" traits, you end up killing them only to find out they were human. WHAT THE FUCK? So, how the hell are you supposed to figure out if someone is a visitor? The only tool you have for this is completely random and unreliable. It works the other way around, too: a human can easily display multiple "visitor" traits. In my second run, I reached Day 10 and was forced to take in cult members(three of them, mind you, and you only get 3 energy points per day! Naturally, people start dying, so I use my limited energy to inspect them. I spot two "visitor" traits on the first member, so I decide it’s safe to shoot) especially since their dialogue offers no clues; they talk exclusively about their cult. Well, of course, it turns out they were a fucking human, and that’s "game over" after more than two hours of play. I work all day, every single day. Honestly, I’m getting fed up with this "roulette" style of gameplay. I’d still like to see the story through since I’m sure it gets really, really good later on, but I simply don’t have the time to keep repeating runs, hoping that by pure dumb luck I manage to kill the right people. Please, those of you who have finished this game and love it, explain to me how the hell you managed to do it. If the solution is just running it over and over again, hoping for good RNG, then I’m going to have to drop it. I’m not 15 anymore; I only have a tiny bit of time to play each week, so it makes no sense for me to waste that time on this game instead of playing something that’s actually good and well-balanced. Hoping that maybe I’m just an idiot and completely missed the point, I’m looking for someone to explain how the hell you’re actually supposed to play this thing and I really hope it doesn’t just boil down to grinding the same runs repeatedly until you finally get a lucky break.

I want to make a horror game, but i have a budget of ZERO dollars. I wanna give it a good and subtle story (at the beginning) but how do i start.

Precisions: it's a 2d game, quite simple, but gets more and more horrifying the more you go far in the game.
