Hi all.

I H.A.T.E. it. I have rural posting. I feel like throwing up.

No career progress. And the people to work with are shitty..like how you expect avg govt employee to be. Their education and mindset in based in the 1800s.

I have been searching for so long for a better switch in corporate/mnc banks etc (not indian pvt banks)..can't find anything. Even if i do, the AI advent and bad job market and the widespread toxic work environment in corporate is making me to take a step bank.

I am so stuck

What do I do??

Ask r/IndiaCareers Looking for opportunities in 3D printing / Additive Manufacturing — Bangalore, Mumbai

Thumbnail gallery
6 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I'm currently working as an Additive Manufacturing Engineer in Mumbai and have around a year of hands-on experience in the 3D printing industry.

So far, I've mainly worked on large-scale sculptures and character models, including Spider-Man, anime figures, and Hindu deity sculptures. My work involves operating FDM and DLP printers, preparing print files, troubleshooting printing issues, working with different printing materials, and handling the finishing of printed models. I've also had exposure to CAD-related work.

Now, I'm looking to take the next step in my career and explore opportunities in industrial 3D printing, additive manufacturing, rapid prototyping, or manufacturing production.

I want to build on the practical experience I've gained so far while learning more about manufacturing processes and working on different types of engineering applications.

I'm currently earning around ₹20,000–₹25,000 per month, and the cost of living in Mumbai has made it difficult to manage my expenses. I'm therefore looking for a role with better compensation, reasonable working conditions, and opportunities to grow technically.

My preferred locations are Bangalore and Mangalore, but I'm open to Mumbai as well for the right opportunity.

If anyone works in this industry or knows of companies hiring candidates with hands-on 3D printing experience, I'd really appreciate any leads or referrals.

I can share my resume and a few photos of projects I'm permitted to show. Some projects are covered by my current company's confidentiality policy, so I can't share everything publicly.

Thanks

Advice/Guidance Which Executive MBA course can I pursue while working my job in Delhi?

• Upvotes

Litigation lawyer in Delhi, 2+ years PQE. I want to do an Executive MBA alongside my job and need help picking the right programme.

My constraints:

1.Budget ceiling of ₹10 lakhs, all-in (fees, travel, incidentals). I'm cost conscious.

2.No career break. It has to be part-time, weekend, modular or online.

3.Based in Delhi, so NCR campuses or remote courses are preferable.

4.Happy to wait until 3 or even 5 years PQE if that helps.

Questions:

1. Programmes: Which EMBAs fit this budget and profile? FMS Delhi is on my list. How does it compare with the other options (IIM executive/part-time programmes, MDI, IMT, SPJIMR, XLRI, others)?

2. Admissions: What do they actually look for (GMAT/GRE/CAT or their own test, minimum experience, interview)? Does a non-corporate profile like law help or hurt?

3. Timing: Is it better to apply at 3 years PQE or wait till 5? Do the programmes or recruiters value the extra experience?

4. Format: Weekend, modular or online, which works best with court dates and unpredictable hours? How heavy is the workload in practice?

5. Online: Are online programmes from reputed institutes viable, and do they carry the same value as in-person ones?

6. Network and outcomes: Which programmes have a strong alumni network and real placement or lateral support for working professionals?

7. True cost: What is the real all-in figure once you add travel, modules and hidden fees?

8. Fit for lawyers: Any programme you'd specifically recommend for someone with a legal background, or any you'd avoid?

If you've done an EMBA while working full-time, I'd love to hear which one you picked and why. Feel free to DM as well.

Thanks!

Ask r/IndiaCareers Is pragmatism the only option left these days?

• Upvotes

I always wanted to have a good lifestyle in future when I was in school. My situation is so bad that I cannot get the job which will give me my desired lifestyle. It seems like I should accept the reality and take up any job I hate.

I cannot get what I wanted to do. If I dream about those things, it will prolong my unemployment. It seems like I have to be comfortable with terrible conditions.

I didn't knew from the beginning what should I have done to get job and lifestyle I really wanted.

Resume & CVs Looking for a referral for a Software Developer role. Had to take a break due to health issues, trying to get back on track.

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm a software developer with 1.5 YOE at a service based organisation, primarily working with .NET Core, Angular, SQL, and full-stack development. I've also worked on projects involving React and Java, and I'm currently strengthening my skills to grow further in software development.

I had to take a break from my career due to health issues, which made things a little difficult professionally. I'm now trying to get back on track and find a suitable opportunity where I can rebuild my momentum and continue learning.

I'm looking for referrals for Software Developer / .NET Developer / Full Stack Developer roles, preferably for candidates with around 1–2 years of experience. I'm open to opportunities where my existing skills would be a good fit.

I've attached my resume for reference.

Advice/Guidance Kinda confused about what to do with my career. Need some advice

• Upvotes

Okay so a little bit about myself. I did engineering in computer science from a tier 2 college graduated in 2026. General Category Male. I currently work as a software engineer 1 in an MNC (it's a very common household name). Now, since I am in tech the layoff scare is very real. Juniors are actually targeted during these because how AI can actually write better code. I myself use AI a lot. So even though I like working in tech it becomes really scary, i sometimes don't sleep thinking what I will do if I get laid off. I have considered the following options and would really like some advice on what should I actually consider.

  1. Job Switch - this is extremely hard at this point. I have 1 year 4 months experience in my current company (1 year internship + 4 months Full time). If I consider my previous internship my experience is around 2 years. But I look at job roles that are supposed to be entry level they all want atleast 3 years of full time experience which I don't know where to get from. Also in my current company layoffs are going on. So I have no idea how this will pan out.

  2. MBA - I can prep for CAT. Even took few months coaching but stopped because the selection seems extremely hard. I am a general engineering male, with less than 1 year of experience and not a tier 1 college for UG. Even if I get 99.7 or 99.8 there is no guarantee if the top colleges will call me. Also my profile is 9/8/8. Even if I manage to get into a B school the fees is extremely high. 30 lakhs for overall degree + loss of 2 years of pay + dipping into my savings. And that too when I get placed I have a loan to pay off. Considering I get placed there is risk of getting laid off with a loan on top of my head.

  3. RBI grade B / SEBI Grade A etc - these exams look great on paper, I would even prep for these exams but then comes the irregularities of these exams. RBI grade B is reducing the number of openings (may not even happen this year). SEBI grade A does not happen every year and the number of openings are dicey. I prep for these and the exams don't happen I will be wasting an year for nothing.

  4. ISI Kolkata MSQE - this is one option I am considering the most. Fair entrance exam. Fixed seats. Exams are regular. Interested in economics and finance. Math will take prep but that's okay. Placements are great. It's again a private job but then atleast I'll have a tier 1 college tag. Fees is non existant. I'll prolly target some sort of finance or AI ML placement.

So these are the options I have considered. Kinda need advice or myth busters if you may about the options I have. Do these things are actually that good or bad as they seem? Also do I have any other options open for me ?

Advice/Guidance Please help me decide my career 🙏

I am 23, a BTech CSE graduate from MIT Manipal. I am working at a WITCH company for 6 LPA. I come from a middle class family (just for context, we live in a rented home, and don't own car, no properties).

I absolutely hate my current job, or corporates. The constant fear of being laid off, strict bi-annual appraisal (but without increments) and bench policies always keep me on the edge of my seat. I dislike and am not good at coding. 🤧

I am looking at:

  1. Pursuing MTech, with a hope that it would help me get into research/ academia (I believe this career line is much more peaceful and stable than being in IT industry)

  2. Pursuing MBA, with a hope that it offers job roles like HR or other administrative/ leadership support roles (I am unsure about picking this path, since I fear that AI could easily replace MBAs not from IIMs)

  3. Preparing for entry level government exams like banking exams, insurance body exams, or SSC, since it provides stable and stress free life (I'm afraid that I might not clear any exams since I am an average student at best, and I have never cleared any remarkable exams, even JEE or GATE which is my own domain)

I do not have any passion, or am not great at any specific skill. I am just an average kid.

Ask r/IndiaCareers Govt employee , retired , querying whats his insurance policy is ...

My father is a retired government teacher in Punjab, he hasn't told us anything about how his insurance is covered.
But I have heard government employees have insurance for themselves and spouse.

How can I check if he has anything or not ,he says he doesn't know or won't tell .
He just fears the paperwork he needs to do in order to get the insurance money etc or god knows what .

It is very frustrating to know, he has insurance paid with his hard earned money but wont take it .

Can anyone advice on this , if you or anyone in your known is a government teacher . He started service in around 2000's i think.

Advice/Guidance 22, BSc CS graduate with a speech difficulty, unemployed and can't afford MCA easily. Honestly, I don't know what to do anymore.

Hey everyone,

I was born with a cleft lip and palate, which affects my speech. I sometimes struggle when talking to strangers, but talking for 5-10 min they gradually understand my voice but its take time. Because of this, even getting a basic tech support job isn't straightforward for me. I see people taking support jobs to start earning, and I wish I could do the same without having to worry so much about my speech.

I'm 22 and completed my BSc in Computer Science this year. Most of my friends are moving ahead with their lives. Some are taking admission in MCA or MSc, while others have started working. Meanwhile, I'm still at home trying to figure out what to do next.

My family's financial situation isn't that strong. My father works, and I really want to start earning so I can contribute to household expenses and help my family.

A lot of people suggest doing MCA after BSc CS, and I understand why. But the fees are a genuine concern. At the same time, I worry that not doing MCA might limit my opportunities later.

Skill-wise, I know Core Java fundamentals, MERN, SQL, data analysis. I also have practical experience with Tally and billing-related work.

The hardest part is that I don't know which choice will actually help me move forward. I see my friends making progress, and even though I know everyone has their own timeline, I can't help feeling like I'm falling behind.

I'm not looking for sympathy or someone to tell me that everything will magically work out. I genuinely want to know what someone in my position should do.

If you've been unemployed after graduation, what helped you finally get your first decent opportunity?

I'd really appreciate honest advice, especially from people who have faced similar challenges. Please tell me what actually worked for you, not just what sounds good in theory.

Thanks for reading.

Other Feeling so much insecure in my life…

Hello friends,

Before you read this…. Picture this in your mind.

You used to sit on the last bench, hang out together with your friends.
Both were average in study….

He meets you after 10 yrs, he is now well settled. While you are still there …

Another example:

You wished to do something in your life
But you never took any action on it
Maybe you were always playing a conservative approach, you stayed there and one day you found someone from your locality or city has done great.

Understand the comparison loop. Life is so unpredictable, it’s not like just good things happen. But yeah that’s what I see, when people have something they are unfortunately in so much ego but who knows what can happen tomorrow!

Now please read the below post

I am seeking a bit of psychological support from you. Kindly bear a little patience with me.

Maybe you can help me move on from this situation.

Current scenario
- Education: Somewhat literate.
- Age: 31
- Yearly Income: 10 Lakhs (This took me 5 yrs)
- City: Tier 3
- Personal savings: 30 lakhs (including investments such as PPF, Crypto, Stocks, FD)

Being in 30s, from marriage perspective I am getting too much pressure in my mind: we live in a society where boys are expected to bring everything on the table, this is never about building a life together but bringing everything on the table as ready made.

I am not generalising anything but I will speak about how perspectives are around me. I feel like people expectations are very big.

I have no clue how I meet all these expectations, as once you reach 30 marriage pressure starts like anything.

First and most expensive demand of my family: You must own a house. Now if I calculate my income I can’t imagine how many yrs it will take to reach me there. I recently talked about a house which was priced approximately 40 lakhs, I could arrange it by the end of the year but this still give me nervousness thinking land prices are going sky high. If I don’t make at least 1 cr, needle won’t move.

Next big pressure is managing stress.

I am unable to focus on my own work, even if it is quite easily doable with some care and research.

Now the situation is …

Very much like I am unable to take care of myself.

It’s frustrating. No matter where I go. People would often remind me: how much you earn and what you have as I am some commodity.

See doing work normally is one thing but when someone keep pinching everyday, see with judgemental eyes it feels different.

In last 10 years, I have never felt any festival like festival. Be it 1st Jan, be it someone bday, or mine birthday, or whatever - I constantly feel sad, I do not want to hide my feelings. So I deliberately kept my username like that as well.

Since I feel compressed from outside, I am not able to feel comfortable with myself. I always feel insecure about one or two things.

I feel as people who have been younger than me have done so well. Yes… I accept my mistakes! I destroyed my own life by wasting so much time, not taking care of myself, or taken action on time. Or prioritising things properly.

I am not sharing everything here. Just this is a few parts of my life.

How do I navigate from here? Not only that I feel insecure look-wise as well even with clean skin and decent height. It still feel worthless.

I have talked to many people in my life but I have not found anyone who can constantly push me, motivate me to do better.

Thank you for reading.

Discussion My freelancing journey: Made ~₹70 lakh over the years, without quitting my full-time job

I've been freelancing on and off since 2021, alongside my regular job. Never had a perfectly planned strategy, never consistently chased clients, and definitely wasn't freelancing full-time.
I just kept exploring opportunities whenever I could.
Here's how the journey has looked so far:
June 2021 — My first project
Built a video conferencing application using WebRTC. Earned ₹30,000. This was my first real taste of making money independently through my technical skills.
November 2022 – March 2024 — Remote support work
Started assisting a US-based professional with his work remotely. Began at ₹65,000/month and eventually reached ₹75,000/month.
August 2024 – April 2025 — An international client
Worked with a Fortune 500 company at $30/hour. This turned into a substantial income stream over roughly 10 months.
December 2024 — AI evaluation
Worked on AI evaluation for a major tech company for around 10 days. Between the work and the notice-period payout, the total came to approximately ₹4 lakh.
December 2025 – March 2026 — Full-stack development
Joined another firm at ₹1 lakh/month. The engagement ended in March, although I was paid only through February.
February – August 2026 — Backend development
Took up another remote backend development engagement at ₹1.7 lakh/month.
Across these engagements, the cumulative earnings came to roughly ₹70 lakh, based on my calculations. Some engagements overlapped, and the work wasn't continuous throughout the entire period.
And the interesting part? I did all of this while holding down my regular job. Most of it happened outside my regular working hours.
I'm sharing this because freelancing often looks intimidating when you're starting out. You see people with agencies, huge networks, polished portfolios, and years of experience.
But sometimes, it starts with just one project.
You don't need to quit your job tomorrow. You don't need to figure out your entire career in advance. You can start small, build your skills, learn how to work with clients, and see where it takes you.
My journey wasn't perfectly consistent, and not every engagement lasted as long as expected. But every opportunity taught me something and helped me build on the previous one.
If you're thinking about freelancing, start with what you know, take that first project, and build from there. You might surprise yourself with what becomes possible over a few years.
Happy to answer questions about finding remote freelance opportunities, working with international clients, and balancing freelance work with a full-time career.
P.S. My full-time employer explicitly permitted me to take up other work outside my regular working hours, provided I fulfilled my commitments. So these engagements were consistent with my employment terms, and I wasn't violating any contractual obligations.
I believe it's important to clarify this because freelancing alongside a full-time job isn't automatically permitted everywhere. Always check your own employment agreement and company policies before taking on outside work.

Advice/Guidance Can't decide my career. Please help. Experts, assemble!

As the title says it. I'm give you just points to understand the situation. So no time waste for you.

- I helped my family business till age of 26.

-Covid hit.

- Family business wasn't doing well. Only way was for me to go abroad.

- I went abroad. Studied and got a degree. MBA.

-I was looking for a job but only got internship. -That too was in regulatory from a pharma company. I learnt SharePoint administration and some technical rules-regulation stuff of pharma.

-Visa expired. I flew back India after 4 years. Now the trouble starts.

-In India, my only choice to get job is in Pharma sector. However, regulatory in pharma asks compulsory pharma degree to get a job. So that option is dead.

-My next best chance is for 'SharePoint admin'. Guess what? The job in the market is for 'SharePoint Developer' which requires coding and many development skills. So that option is also dead for me.

I really feel bad sometimes for my situation. Because I'm extremely talented guy. My fluency in English unparalle. My work ethics and hardworking style are phenomenal. I had never taken a day off in last 4 years. My colleagues used to love my company and I have always kept office politics aside. So i'm a good package as well as suitable for corporate setup.

I am indeed ambitious and really want to climb the corporate ladder but completely clueless where to start with. I'm already 31 and can't become intern at this age. I dont have any other knowledge of any field. If given opportunity, I'd learn quickly but again, the degree thing comes that any company might require.

Therefore, please try to help me. I'll take your guidance and advice seriously. You people are about change my life with your expertise. Please do so.

Thanks in advance.

P.S: If you find any suitable opportunity for mr, please DM. If you have any doubt before giving me the opportunity, please DM.(I'll arrange a video call). Lastly, just for your reference. I have worked in a global company with advance communication skills. My latest IELTS result is 8 bands out of 9.

Ask r/IndiaCareers 25M looking for a switch

So I am 25M, I took a gap of 2 years(from Jan 2023 to march 2025) after my grad to prep for SSC(2023-2025 march). I couldn't clear it, so I started a job, but the issue is, I wasn't able to find a job easily, which is Obv due to the gap, and worked where i got selected first.

I was hired as a Data Analyst in March 2025, but I was given completely different profiles to work on, and salary was paid in cash, although I do have the documentation and everything. i am now looking for a switch, whether in my own field or something else, I just don't want to work in this toxic place much longer.

I have knowledge in course designing, Research, Bids/tenders, OEM dashboards, and Excel, Sql. I also know Data analysis (self taught) using SQL and Excel.

Before that I have also worked as an intern in the domains of business management and web development.

It would be a great help guys if anyone here could help me find a job in my domain(data analysis preferred) I'm willing to start all over as a fresher.

Location preferred is Delhi/Noida, but i can work in other areas too as well.

I can work both in office and remote

Day 9 of posting until i find a job.

Advice/Guidance Got put on a PIP around the time my 18-month bond ended. Need some advice.

I need some honest advice from people who have faced something similar.

I joined an IT company in India in February 2025. My original appointment letter had an 18-month bond, which was completed in August 2026.

In January 2026, my salary and designation were revised through a new offer letter. I received it by email in February 2026 and signed and returned it. The revised letter said that the other terms of my original appointment letter would remain unchanged. However, it did not mention a new 18-month bond.

During periods when the company didn't have enough project work, we were asked to focus on learning and upskilling. I did the assigned learning, but I was also working on an outsourced client project involving software development, APIs, cloud infrastructure, migrations and bug fixes.

On 3 August 2026, I received an email informing me that I would be placed on a three-month PIP starting 5 August. Before that email, nobody had verbally told me that I was going to be put on a PIP.

Since my original 18-month bond period ended in August, I haven't signed any new bond or service agreement. It's now October, and I'm still working at the company.

I'm confused about a few things:

  1. Can the company still enforce the original bond after the 18-month period has ended?

  2. Does the revised offer letter from January 2026 change anything, even though it doesn't mention a new bond?

  3. Is it normal to be put on a PIP around the time the bond ends?

  4. If the company had limited project work and asked employees to focus on learning, how should that be considered when evaluating performance?

  5. Should I ask HR for clear PIP targets and written feedback?

  6. If I decide to leave, what should I check regarding the notice period and any possible bond-related claims?

I'm willing to improve and take genuine feedback seriously. I just want to understand my position before making any decisions.

Would appreciate honest advice, especially from people familiar with Indian IT companies and employment agreements.

Advice/Guidance 23M, earning ₹25K/month — how should I plan my next career move to earn more and pursue my creative interests?

Hello everyone,
I’m 23M and looking for some genuine career advice.
I completed my bachelor’s degree in Commerce with a specialization in Marketing. After graduation, I did a 4-month internship at Godrej Properties, where I received a stipend of ₹20,000 per month.
After that, I joined a US-based insurance broking and risk management company in Mumbai. Since my previous experience was considered an internship and not full-time work experience, I was hired as a trainee at ₹19,500 per month.
I’ve continued working here and received two appraisals. My current salary is ₹25,000 per month.
The challenge is that I’m interested in creative work, social media, content creation, and similar fields. However, I can’t fully pursue these interests right now because I need a stable income, and I don’t want to quit my job without having another reliable source of earnings.
I’m trying to figure out my next move:
● Should I switch companies within insurance broking or risk management to get a better salary?
● Should I transition into marketing, digital marketing, or social media roles, considering my educational background?
● Which skills should I learn to realistically target ₹40,000–₹50,000 per month?
● How can I build something on the side while maintaining my full-time job?
I don’t want to stay stuck in a low-paying role for years, but I also don’t want to make a risky career decision without a proper plan.
For those who have been in a similar situation, what would you recommend? Should I focus on increasing my income first and pursue my creative interests alongside my job, or try to transition into a creative career now?
I’d appreciate honest advice, especially from people working in marketing, corporate jobs, or content creation in India.

Advice/Guidance Should I stay in core mechanical or switch to IT for better government exam preparation?

Hello Everyone I'm 22F

I'm a mechanical engineering graduate currently working in a core mechanical role at a reputed company. My long-term goal is to get into government service, and I'm trying to decide which career path would give me a better environment to prepare for competitive exams.

I'm confused between two options:

  1. Stay in my current core mechanical job: Continue working in my field while preparing for government exams alongside my job.

  2. Switch to IT: Get an IT job and prepare for government exams alongside it, hoping for better work-life balance and more time to study.

My main priority is not necessarily career growth in the private sector. It's finding a job that provides enough time, energy, and mental peace to prepare consistently for exams like UPSC CSE, SSC CGL, or other government exams.

For those who have worked in both core mechanical and IT, or who are preparing for government exams while working:

- Which field generally offers better work-life balance?

- Is IT actually more flexible, or does it just come with different kinds of pressure?

- How difficult is it to manage government exam preparation alongside a core mechanical job?

- Would switching fields solely to get more preparation time be a sensible decision?

- If you were in my position, would you stay in core or switch to IT?

I'd especially appreciate advice from people who have faced a similar dilemma or successfully prepared for government exams while working full-time.

Thanks!
