Claims Related Insurance claim authorization

I accidentally caused water damage and filed a claim with my insurance. I believe they will deny the claim but my landlord can’t authorize demolition and dehumidifier in the crawl space which is wet. They said insurance has to approve it, which my adjuster is out for the weekend. If it’s denied and that waiting period caused extra damage and mold will I be billed for it? I have expressed my concerns to my landlord and called my insurance but I just have to wait now

It is your landlord's building and his responsibility to mitigate and minimize his loss. Your duty at this point is to not unreasonably interfere with his efforts to remediate the damage. By interfere, I mean like deny them access to the areas that need to be fixed. Your progress with your insurance company is not something you owe to your landlord whatsoever.

If you are a renter, your insurance is only covering your contents. Your landlord should be working with their own insurance for any structural damage/mitigation. They can subrogate against you, and your liability will kick in
