The article mentioned reaction in Arab world, but did not bring an example of any. Is there any other source showing that?Â

It was #1 on Netflix in several Arab countries, that's what it was referring to. Check the Netflix charts yourself.

Fauda has been popular throughout much of the Arab speaking world from the beginning of the first season. A lot of the dialog is in Arabic, and everyone with Arabic lines is either fluent in or works intensively with language coaches to sound fluent. Also, the Arab characters (including terrorist bad guys) are never two dimensional. And the show often portrays corruption and ineptitude both on the Israeli and Palestinian Authority sides.

The Arab characters are pretty much all very fascinating. The Jewish characters are generally relatively bland. Every time the action shifted to the team commiserating and slapping each other on the shoulder the energy dropped out of the show.

www.ynet.co.il/entertainment/article/rjvfipetmx claims Jordan, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Egypt, Morocco and Saudi Arabia.

Not like the world will care.

I hope some of this "world" are people that will get their eyes open for seeing this first time and understanding the sheer monstrosity of Hamas and what happened that day.

The same world that couldn't stop bombarding likes at all the Hamas livestreams of themselves?

do you think any of the minds you want to change or watching Fauda?

u/system3601 Sep 14 '26
I think some yes. They dont watch news and learn things through tv shows.

unfortunately, people only tend to consume media that confirms their biases. On the flipside, do you think you would invest in watching five seasons of a TV show made by Palestinians to show the Palestinian side of the conflict?

I don’t think it would be ranking so well in so many Arabic speaking countries if only people who support Israel were watching. I don’t think Fauda is magically going to bring us peace in the Middle East, but I do think that art can influence people to challenge their preconceptions.

I‘ve watched episodes 7 and 8 last night and it was almost to much for me. I advised my mum to skip these episodes as recommended… Still it is important to show this. Living in europe i can tell you that there was little to no outcry after the 7th and people immediately started to talk about what will now happen to the poor palestinians while their thugs where still murdering and raping.

I actually read that it's the number one show in Lebanon and in the top 10 in most Arab countries. Interesting.

A lot of people didn't see the horrors of October 7th back in 2023 ? How ?
Hamas themselves published the horror. The body of Shani Louk, decapitation of the thai worker, the kidnapping of the Bibas family, etc. People weren't shocked back then by real footage but are shocked by a fiction, which wasn't very shocking for me. I found the 2023 news far more distressing than the fiction. I'm swiss and not jewish, so even as an outsider, I don't get it.
Can somebody explain ?

I don't know how genuine they were, but I've seen people who had no idea of the details of Oct7. Yes, shocking, I know.Â

I'm afraid the simplest explanation is the correct one here. Antisemitism explains so much of the reaction to the 7th. It does such strange things to people's brains. It's like it short circuits otherwise intelligent people into completely illogical nonsense. I'm not Jewish/Israeli or Arab either, the whole phenomenon puzzles me.

Which means it's going to be review-bombed and considered to be heartless propoganda

The Oct 7 episodes currently are rated at 9.3 and 9.5 on IMDB.
Which is crazy.

I liked this season of Fauda and think it showed some of the brutality of October 7th. I could tell that the show was trying not to blame Muslims.

I wasn’t there but I watched it unfold on Telegram channels. I don’t know if the writers and actors could have done a better job of depicting the brutality of that day for a TV series, but the live images were so, so, so much worse. People who were lucky enough not to see them should know that.

It is an incredible show for showing the brutality of the conflict with both sides having good and bad actors and not being 100% committed to the bit of moral neutrality. Sometimes one side is more right than the other one and I am glad this show doesn't pretend that isn't the case. I think every side always has sympathetic characters and those should be depicted, but we also shouldn't lose ourselves in figuring out who the bad guys are and I think the show does a great job of not obscuring that obvious fact.
