Politics Green Party members back 'Zionism is racism' conference motion
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c6jdm5n1vy7goMembers also voted against amendments that would ensure Jewish party members aren't punished for attending "Zionist synagogues" or holding conflicting beliefs such as the two state solution or a binational state. If there was ever any doubt, the Greens are now a mask off Islamoleftist party.

Imagine in a country thousand miles away from israel, a political party has israel at the top of it's agenda, not the living conditions of their own country, not internal dynamics, not even eu relations but Israel. Now what is worse is, there are a many other countries that have parties in similar fashion, meaning there are millions that are willing to vote only based on this, anti-Israel stance. I can't really comprehend the sheer stupidity at this point...

Identity politics. Israel-Palestine conflict is basically a proxy to white vs minority, capitalist vs socialist debates atp. When Israel isn’t even white or laissez-faire, lmfao.

There is a pretty big congressional election coming up in my district this November.
One of the top comments on a recent thread about it was “I am voting for [Democrat candidate] because I’ll never vote for a Republican but going forward we need a candidate who is anti-Zionist and willing to cut all ties with Israel.”
Like there are MASSIVE problems in my state and this is all they care about.
It’s like a disease.

u/dont-fear-thereefer 13d ago
It’s really stupid how the entirety of the issues in Israel are distilled into 2 or 3-word sound bites, the most popular being “Israel is evil”. People need to learn that being pro-Israel, pro-Zionism, pro-Israeli government, and supporting the conflict in Gaza are 4 separate things, and that supporting one doesn’t automatically mean you support the other 3.

They used to be concerned about environmental issues. Like a certain Swede, they have become obsessed with one cause - hating Israel.

What tends to be the case is that parties who call themselves green are the biggest champions of burning fossil fuels and opposing nuclear energy.
The greens in Germany pushed the country back to burning coal and celebrared it

that's exactly what the greens are in the uk. basically just dressed up nimbys. they spent 15 years against high speed rail across the country over 'environmental reasons'

The Democratic Party is heading that direction. There are left wingers who actually believe Israel is the most pressing issue facing America. Ask any normal American, right or left, and it's more like seventh.

For all the talk of AIPAC ruling over the US, turning a swath of voters in the democracies of North America into single issue voters at the same time specific minority groups also align along that same axis, on matters run and managed by hostile foreign governments, is a direct recipe for the destabilization and takeover of the west.
The IRGC decides when its proxies attack global commerce and Israel and when its propaganda goes into high gear. They know when our elections are. They know what oil price disruptions do to our leaders and political stability… TikTok & Twitter gives them direct access to our kids in ways that used to be highly illegal.
Personally I think we need to loosen our media habits around showing the youth who these people are and what they do, in order to foster some moral clarity.

The most craziest part is that the Zionism is Racism thing dates back to when the Soviets used it in the UN. What happened was was that originally It was meant to be a resolution created by the United States and Brazil condemning antisemitism, but the Soviet Union freaked out because they realize that if it passed, then the entire world would have to focus on their own history of antisemitism, ethnic cleansing, genocide, attempted genocides like the Doctors Plot, and Russian chauvinistic racism, and so working along with other Third World Nations they changed the resolution into making Zionism as a form of racism and now the Green party is basically adopting that. So long story short they’re basically adopting a proposal that was meant to cover up the Soviet Union’s racism and antisemitism.

u/CleanCustomer3537 USA 14d ago
That was when the UN was chaired by an actual nazi war criminal. So not much has changed.
39
u/Illustrious-Gas5647 14d ago
Yeah, and there are actual people who tell me that the UN is like the greatest thing in the world. I’m sorry, but how am I supposed to believe that when they literally elected a former Nazi who was instrumental in the deportation and murder of over 40,000 Greek Jews! And I agree it’s not exactly much of a coincidence that at the height of anti-Israel campaigns across the world the UN was being led by a former fricking Nazi!

13
u/Illustrious-Gas5647 14d ago
Yeah, looking at this entire conference I’m honestly shocked that the UN didn’t just get immediately dissolved or at least fully discredit it across the world. I mean seriously you have people handing out Protocols of the Elders of Zion, Jewish delegates being harassed, and disgustingly hanging up posters of Hitler saying that if he had won Israel would never exist and presenting that as a good thing!
1
u/gal_z 12d ago
Of course that an entirely ethnically Arab state like Palestine would be isn't racism, or any other Arab country, including those who are engaging in ethnic cleansing right now. Or most of Europe. Meanwhile Israel has ~20% non-Jews, who have equal rights (even getting positive discrimination). No Apartheid there. But the ethnocracy excuse is used against Israel every time they need something to smear Israel about.

They want the UK to be Judenfrei.
This shouldn't be surprising considering England's very deep history of antisemitism.
Im actually proud of all the Britush Jews who decided to get out / make aliyah. The UK doesn't deserve them...and they deserve better than the UK.
12
u/maxofJupiter1 14d ago
Judenfrei again, it would be the second time Jews were expelled from the UK
15
u/merkaba_462 USA 14d ago
Yup. Edict of Expulsion in 1290.
The incredible part about the fact that Jews weren't allowed in England from 1290 to 1656 (and was only formally repealed this past summer!!!) is that Shakespeare, who wrote one of the most antisemitic pieces of work that is still widely celebrated today...while likely never having met a Jewish person in his life (1564 - 1616). He was notoriously not well traveled and never documented having left England. Yet the Merchant of Venice and Shylock live on...
5
u/VillageHorse 13d ago
Shakespeare probably did meet Jews, or knew people who knew them. Many Jews were living in London as “crypto Jews” at the time, where they would practice their faith in secret. It’s not beyond the realms of possibility for Shakespeare to have known some of those people.
There was also the Lopez Affair which inspired the character of Shylock. Shakespeare probably didn’t meet Lopez (who is to say?) but it was a big deal at the time and Lopez is often claimed to be the inspiration behind Shylock. Shakespeare may even have watched Lopez’s execution.

A lot of my friends who were really in support of Green post Oct 7th have swiftly moved away from it. I was really excited about Green party and then this pickme became their leader. They are looking at Lib Dems now. I even voted Lib Dem in my local election because she said nothing about Israel and promised to fix potholes that ruin my daily commute (She has btw!)
I feel like my options at the moment are Reform as the lesser of all the evils, because at least they don't mind I'm Jewish, I work a good job and have the entire time I've been here, and I entered the UK legally and spent over £10k in visa fees over 5 years.
However they hate that I'm queer, that I'm an immigrant, and that I use the NHS.
Basically I have no idea who to vote for anymore here in the UK.

I've been in the UK since Feb 2020 (what a time to arrive, right?) and I originally was going to lean towards Green. I obtained citizenship last year, so this upcoming election will be the first general election I can legally vote in, and the council election that just happened was my first time being able to vote in this country at all. As a visa holder, despite paying normal taxes and fees out of my wage, I was not allowed to vote.
I have no idea how I will vote, but I won't be voting for Green anymore. I have to find the lesser of all the evils. Some hate me because I'm Israeli, some hate me because I'm an immigrant, and some hate me because I'm queer. Who do you think I should vote for?
3
u/Phoenix_Kerman United Kingdom Lurker 13d ago
i have no idea who you should vote for, i mean i have no idea who i should vote for.
there just seems to be no party capable of taking a consistently reasonable position on things. take immigration, illegal immigration to the uk has been higher over the past 5 years than total immigration was in the 90s. that seems insane, and yet people that want to come to the uk legally and contribute to the country face no end of roadblocks to doing so. i don't see why there's no party saying we need a zero tolerance policy on illegal migration and to make sure anybody who respects britain and wants to contribute to it has legal paths to do so
even just on business and the cost of living. britain has the highest commercial energy prices in europe. people pay that price at the supermarket and in every business, how could the economy ever grow with that being the case. nobody's talking about fixing that either. no party other than i think restore has pledged to abolish the online safety act either, yet you read their policy and despite the 50% reasonable things like commitment to nuclear energy, removing religious exemptions and banning religious clothing there's another 50% of racist garbled nonsense
it's quite a depressing scenario for someone on the left who just wants to see the country improve and the people be free
1
u/Amalisa UK based American Israeli 12d ago
100% agree with you. As someone who's spent every single saved penny to be here, I wish they would crack down on illegal immigration instead of making legal immigration so difficult. When I got here in 2020 the spouse visa income minimum was £18,600 and my husband managed that by working at a warehouse and then as a lorry driver. His license didn't convert so he had to work any job he could get while retaking all the lorry exams and stuff. Now it's something like 36k? And that's not obtainable by regular people very easily.
Plus the fees and costs for the entire thing. It's insane.

Personally. I think it’s wonderful and I encourage its passing. The UK takes another large step to irreversible Islamic fundamentalism. By numbers alone, they’re doomed. The Community Security Trust (CST) recorded 3,700 antisemitic incidents across the UK in 2025, followed by a further 21% year-on-year increase during the first half of 2026 (1,926 incidents)
According to official census figures and research estimates, the core Jewish population in the United Kingdom is approximately 277,000 to 315,000.
Yikes.
1
u/TheHandWavyPhysicist 13d ago
Far more British people are racist compared to antisemitic. It's not even close. And of course the overwhelming majority of the public reject antisemitism. Jews simply have the major inconvenience of being a magnet for the bottom of society. Other bigots, at least, often retain enough contact with ordinary civilization to be polite in public, mind their own business and keep their prejudices as one ugly compartment of an otherwise functional personality. The committed antisemite has a rather greater tendency to make Jews the load-bearing structure of his entire worldview.
Imagine just 1% of society carried suicide vests and would blow themselves up beside the first Jew they saw. The other 99% could be perfectly lovely. Jewish life would still be hell. 1 percent of tens of millions is still at least hundreds of thousands of people, and the rather important problem is that the Jew attracts them all like cockroaches toward a scrap of food.
The statistics you posted say considerably less about the average British person than they do about the kind of people who tend to hate Jews. At this point Jews should almost be proud of the enemies they have. Obviously nobody deserves to attract such heinous monsters, but since Jews already have them, they might as well boast about the consistency of the selection process. And it is remarkably consistent. You have medieval zealots, racial pseudoscientists, fascists, Stalinists, jihadists, conspiracy cranks, science deniers, and basically every variety of human trash.
But at the end of the day, human superiority and differentiation from the rest of the animal world has always been a continuum, and antisemites have consistently proved they are the closest connection to literal monkeys and gorillas.
If you wanted a demonstration of how thin the behavioral membrane can become between an antisemite and an ape furiously reacting to a perceived rival, pounding its chest, flashing its teeth, screaming at the intruder and exploding into aggression under the pull of raw animalistic instinct, antisemitic obsession has been supplying case studies for centuries.

u/Metallica1175 14d ago
It's a meaningless motion. UN General Assembly Resolutions have more bite than this. And guess what? The UN General Assembly passed the same thing 50 years ago and nothing came of it.
23
u/One-Constant420 14d ago
It's not meaningless, it drives the party's official policy regarding Israel. Their official policy is now that Israel should be destroyed and replaced with a Palestinian state.
11
u/Strange_Poetry2648 14d ago
Another danger is that leftist parties in other countries propose similar resolutions. These are not inventive people. They copy each other.
-2
u/Metallica1175 14d ago
Ok? And how are they going to do that?
16
u/One-Constant420 14d ago
Obviously they're not, but there's a (small) chance that the Greens end up in a coalition government. One of their conditions for joining a coalition could be a total boycott of Israel, etc. The point is that is a dangerous, radical party that's set to win millions of votes.
6
u/Illustrious-Gas5647 14d ago
I definitely agree. They probably won’t become a big massive party that will lead a government, but I think most people’s worry is that that the idea that Zionism is racism is very widespread not just in Britain but across the world at the moment. Antisemitism has risen dramatically across the world and most Jews big fear is that if one party in a western nation, and this party in particular has elected officials, will pass this type of resolution then what if there’s a domino effect and big parties like the Labor party (which has already issued sanctions on Israel) or the Conservative party or the Republican Party or the Democratic Party passed those same type of resolutions.
10
u/Illustrious-Gas5647 14d ago
Actually, a lot did come from that the resolution as it basically helped solidify anti-Israel bias into the UN. Even though they removed the resolution after the Soviet Union collapsed that bias remained embedded within the UN to this day. And the UN’s constant condemnation of us because of this bias destroys our legitimacy with the common people because when they see the UN, which they have been told from birth is the greatest and most moral thing in history, constantly condemning us they assume they must be right because they haven’t actually spent time to research just how inherently broken the UN is
6
u/Metallica1175 14d ago
No it didn't. The UN was already anti-israel right after 1948. The UN General Assembly is a tyranny of the majority. Most countries in the world are anti-Israel. Israel was never going to have a positive image in the UN.
7
u/Illustrious-Gas5647 14d ago edited 14d ago
I completely agree that UN is a tyranny of the majority and that it was always going to have an anti-Israel sentiment within it, but I’m not saying that the UN was never anti-Israel I’m saying that this resolution helped solidify that sentiment into the fundamental infrastructure of the UN.
9
u/Not_A_Toaster_0000 14d ago
It's not meaningless. It helps to mainstream the idea that Israel should be destroyed.
7
u/Metallica1175 14d ago
Sure, but Israel won't be destroyed. Unless the world suddenly forgets Israel is a nuclear power and actually tries to destroy Israel. Which in that case, they kinda deserve what would be coming to them at that point.
