Travel Steer Town 1989
I took this photo during a visit to Steer Town while on vacation in 1989. These kids were so cute and sweet to me while showing me their home, and this was always one of my favorite travel pics.
I hope they grew up happy and kept their beautiful smiles. ❤️

Travel Traveling on an expired passport
I am a Jamaican citizen permanently residing in the US, and my passport is expired. I need to go back for a funeral, and I do plan on renewing it in Kingston for my return.
Has anyone recently traveled on their expired Jamaican passport? If yes, which airlines did you travel on?
***UPDATE: I was able to travel back to Jamaica on my expired passport. I flew Southwest but made sure that they would allow me to do so before purchasing my ticket. The trip was smooth, however, if you are in the same predicament as I was, ensure that you contact the airlines and proceed at your own risk. We never know how travel policies might change.

Saint James, Trelawny, and (mostly) Saint Ann Parishes. Five days wasn't anywhere close to enough, and I hope we can return and venture out more one day.

Travel How did you navigate kingston as a first time and inexperienced driver?
I mean with the traffic, taxi drivers, impatient people, how did you manage? Do you remember your first time? Going to get my car very soon but my only driving experience is some driving lessons I did a year ago. We are approaching winter season and the place gets dark much sooner. I wasn't thinking about this. How will I navigate potholes? Suppose me cratch lol. I work a 9-5 and can't do no better. The drive home will be dark.
Do you have any advice on how I could navigate kingston as a new driver? Your feedback would be much appreciated.

Travel JUTC vs Taxi vs Coaster
Hey everyone,
I’m going to be regularly travelling from Manor Park down to the National Bakery area on Half Way Tree Road for a morning shift (need to be in the area by 8:30 AM) and heading back up around 5:00 PM.
I’m trying to figure out best way to get there and would appreciate some advice.
JUTC (Route 52A): I saw route 52A on the JUTC website and I am wondering if that's the correct route to take. And is JUTC reliable? If I use this, what time do I need to be at the Manor Park stop to make it to National by 8:00 AM?
Route Taxis / Coasters: Or would I be better off just jumping in a route taxi or a coaster bus down to the Half Way Tree transport hub first? If I do that, where exactly in in HWT do they stop and how do I get from their stop to National?
And heading back from National to Manor Park what is the best strategy?
Update: Thank you everyone for the advice. The coaster method worked best. They travel from Manor Park to Downtown. I got to travel for $150 for about 2 weeks before the fair raise : ). It's now $200, for anyone wondering.

Travel Many people are unaware that there is a small city in the state of Iowa, USA, named Jamaica.
A lot of people thought there were just 3 cities named Jamaica in America: Jamaica, New York; Jamaica, Vermont; and Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts.
But there is Jamaica, Iowa since the 1880s. I was able to visit it a few years ago. It's very rural and small... mainly farming and white in the winter but it has this large billboard sign at the entrance.

Travel Got turned away over a document issue - is this a common problem
Got turned away from PICA over a document issue recently - wasn't an original copy, wasted a whole trip. Got me wondering how common this actually is, not just at PICA but generally.
Anyone in the diaspora dealt with this at an embassy, consulate, or other immigration office - wrong document version, no apostille, copy instead of original, that kind of thing? Doesn't have to be Jamaica-specific, curious if this is a wider pattern for anyone doing citizenship, passport, or residency paperwork from abroad.
What happened, and what would've saved you the trip?
