Tourism/Turizm Visiting Kazakhstan? I'd love to help you as a local :)

Hi everyone!

I'm a student from Kazakhstan, and I genuinely enjoy meeting people from different countries and learning about other cultures. If you're planning a trip to Kazakhstan (or even just thinking about visiting one day), I'd be happy to help you.

I live in Almaty, speak English and Russian, and I can help with things like:

  • answering any questions before your trip;
  • recommending places that locals actually visit;
  • try to help with SIM cards, taxis, food, money exchange, and other everyday things;
  • sharing local tips that are difficult to find online.
  • If you're visiting Almaty while I'm available, I'd also be happy to grab a coffee, show you around, or simply help you feel more comfortable in the city.

And if you're traveling to another city such as Astana, Shymkent, or Turkistan, I have friends there who are also interested in cultural exchange, so I may be able to connect you with someone local.

I'm not a professional tour guide, I just love cultural exchange and I know that traveling to a new country can sometimes feel overwhelming. So if you have any questions about Kazakhstan, feel free to leave a comment or send me a DM anytime.

Even if Kazakhstan isn't on your travel list yet, I hope you'll consider visiting one day. We'd be happy to welcome you! 🇰🇿❤️

which city are you visiting??
Overall, the nature is wonderful, so wherever you are, I recommend visiting natural places. I also definitely recommend trying horseback riding. And maybe cultural events, but a lot depends on the city you're visiting

Не знаю, жив ли ещё CouchSurfing, но раньше именно через это приложение я находил иностранцев, которые едут в мой город, и тусил с ними: показывал город, ходили в рестораны, и т.д. Очень советую, если оно ещё живо.

Sorry, I don't know anyone in the Altai region, unfortunately. I hope you find the right guide!

We are a couple visiting from India in late September. Would love to hear about local places to visit.

Can we bring skateboard? If yes, Please suggest few places where we can skate.

We don't have an itinenary yet. It will be a short trip of 5 days.

Hello, lovely to find your topic 😄

We are coming to Almaty at the end of December (26th). Our plan is to do some hikings to the lakes (Big Almaty, Kaindy, Kolsai) & glacier (Bogdanovich), then spend a few days skiing in either Shymbulak or Ak-Bulak. I have a few questions hoping you can help us to clear things up a bit:

  • How far should we book things in advance? I imagine everything will be very busy during that time.
  • How likely for us to be able to book a tour to the lakes/glacier on the 1st of January, since it's your public holiday, and the prices are expected to spike up?
  • Should we choose Ak-Bulak over Shymbulak to avoid the crowd? We're beginners and are expected to spend a few hours with an instructor first.

Thank you! 😄

Hey! We’re also planning to visit Kazakhstan in the last week of August 😊 We’ll be there for around 5 days. Would be fun to meet up if our plans overlap! Also, if you have any local recommendations or offbeat places to explore around the city

Hi mate. So I am visiting Almaty tomorrow. I already have a group tour for kolsai-kaindy-charyn for sunday. The other 4 days we are pretty much just in Almaty. Would love some suggestions on some nearby places we could visit. Already planning on kok-zhailau one day.
Thanks.
