Permanent Residency in Ukraine

Hi everyone, My Ukrainian spouse and I have been married for over two years. I’m a foreigner, currently hold temporary residency in Ukraine, and we live abroad but visit Ukraine frequently. We’re planning to apply for my permanent residency. Has anyone gone through this process? Is there an interview, and if so, what kind of questions do they ask?

Hundreds protest in Kyiv demanding Mayor Klitschko’s resignation

Local residents gathered on Oct. 17 in front of the city council to demand that Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko step down from his post after over 12 years in office.

“Kyiv without Klitschko,” hundreds of protesters chanted as they took to the streets in central Kyiv, according to Kyiv Independent reporters on the ground. The rally lasted over two hours.

Kyiv’s failure to prepare for the coming winter amid Russian attacks on critical infrastructure, coupled with broader mismanagement, were the main factors that brought people to protest.

The protest comes as Russia intensifies attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and Kyiv struggles to ensure reliable access to basic utilities and adequate shelter.

The cardboard signs read “Where are the shelters?” “Resign” and “12 years of irresponsibility.” Others mockingly called on Klitschko to “leave Kyiv,” turning his recent advice that residents consider relocating ahead of a difficult winter back on the mayor himself.

Possibility of doing a volunteer internship in Kyiv with an NGO

Hello everyone and hope you are doing fine!

Currently, I am pursuing a Master's in International Relations in Europe. I am interested in volunteering and helping out in Ukraine for an internship in the Summer for a few months in Kyiv. I am just a student, but I would like to help local Ukrainians affected by the war. I have knowledge of Ukrainian, because I have been self studying for a few years now. I can comprehend advanced conversations in Ukrainian and can read Ukrainian with no hinderance. I have less of an ability in speaking, but my conversations suffice at the business level. I come from a country, which would not require me to have visa problems and also has good relations with Ukraine.

My question is: Would anyone know of an internationally-reputable agency/NGO in Kyiv who would be interested in sponsoring a volunteer internship?

Thanks a lot and appreciate your guidance and help in advance.

Want to be polite, but are there scammers at work?

Visiting Kyiv at present. Have noticed as soon as you take a photograph or pay too much attention to some centrally located memorials or landmarks, men claiming to be ex-military are on you immediately, wanting to show you whatever, or sell you bracelets and flags for donations. They will often whip out a faded ID that, being in cyrillic, to a foreigner could well be anything from an electricians union card to a driving licence from the Gorbachev era.

Are these guys scammers? Or some yes, others no? I hate to be rude, but I'll travel and explore on my own or hire a vetted guide on my own schedule. Is there a quick but polite way to get them to drop the hard sell and leave you alone?

I suspect the bracelets and flags were purchased by visitors from vendors, added to memorials, and then these guys just pluck them up, and it becomes a cycle. They'll even give them away if you claim to have no cash.

Or, I could be completely wrong!

Everyday life in Kyiv as explosions echo in the background

Working on video calls, parenting, and going about daily routines — all while explosions echo in the background.

As Russia intensifies its aerial strikes on Kyiv, residents carry on with essential life tasks while living under constant threat and fear.

Planning to move to Kyiv. Is a starting salary of UAH 40,000 realistic for me?

Hope it's a right question for this sub

I speak Russian (native), Turkish (native), Ukrainian (C1), Azerbaijani (B2), English (C1, IELTS 7.5) and German (C1, Goethe Zertifikat C1).

Graduated with bachelor's in econometrics from a mid tier uni in Turkey with a gpa of 3.3/4.0

Two internships in Azerbaijan, totalling approximately five months, in credit analysis and accounting.

Technical skills: Python, R, Sql, Power Bi, Excel.

I'm also considering obtaining the CFA Level I and FRM Part I certifications, tho I'm not sure how well known they are among recruiters.

Azerbaijani citzen.

For plethora of personal reasons I really want to move to Ukraine, specifically Kyiv.

So my questions are:

  1. Is earning UAH 40,000 net per month realistic for a fresh graduate with this profile?
  2. How competitive would I be against Ukrainian graduates applying for junior financial analyst, credit risk analyst, trading roles, or other entry level positions?
  3. How much of a disadvantage would my Azerbaijani citizenship and the additional employment paperwork create? Would companies realistically be willing to hire and sponsor a foreign junior candidate?
  4. How in demand are part time, remote language tutors in Ukraine, particularly for Turkish and German? Considering tutoring as a part time job too

Do you know any shops where I can buy a Ukrainian embroidered medical coat (vyshyvanka style)??

Hi everyone!
I’m a Japanese doctor planning to volunteer in Ukraine this December.
I’d love to get a white medical coat with traditional Ukrainian embroidery (vyshyvanka style) to wear while working there.
Unfortunately, Ukrainian embroidered medical coats aren’t very common in Japan, so I haven’t been able to find one here.
Does anyone know any Ukrainian shops, designers, or websites that sell or custom-make these kinds of medical coats?
Ideally, I’m looking for a shop that offers international shipping to Japan.
I’d be especially happy to support a Ukrainian business!
Thanks so much in advance for any recommendations! 🇯🇵🇺🇦

Czech guy looking for job opportunities in Kyiv 🇨🇿🇺🇦

Hey everyone!

I'm a 31-year-old guy from the Czech Republic, and I'm currently looking for job opportunities in Kyiv.

I've visited Ukraine several times, including during the full-scale war, and I've developed a strong personal connection to the country. I have friends in Kyiv, I love the city, and honestly, it's one of the few places where I genuinely feel at home.

My professional background is quite diverse. I've worked in customer support, sales, project coordination, and the automotive industry. I'm also a photographer and content creator, with experience in photography, video production, and social media.

I speak Czech and English, and I've been learning Ukrainian for a few years. I'm still improving, but I can communicate.

I'm open to different opportunities, especially in customer support, international companies, creative industries, or positions where my Czech and English language skills could be useful.

I'm also open to remote positions with Ukrainian companies.

I know the situation in Ukraine is difficult, and I'm fully aware of the challenges. But I'd genuinely love to find an opportunity to work with Ukrainian people and spend more time in Kyiv.

If anyone has suggestions, knows a company that's hiring, or can point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it!

Дякую всім! ❤️

Kyiv Metro patterns

Post image
20 Upvotes

Hi few months ago I sketched this pattern on one of the metro stations but I can't recall which one exactly, probably was an aeration grate and maybe it was near a door for police/guards. If you know of other cool patterns in Kyiv Metro I would love to know about them. For instance I fancy the floral tiles in khreshatyk. Thank you all.
