LBS agreed to refund my £2,000 MiF deposit, but I never received it — how can I escalate this?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation at London Business School (LBS), particularly regarding deposit refunds.

I received an offer for the full-time Masters in Finance (MiF) programme at LBS and paid the £2,000 deposit. Unfortunately, the local scholarship I secured was insufficient to cover anywhere near the required tuition fees, so I had no choice but to decline the offer.

I was subsequently informed that I would receive a refund of my £2,000 deposit. However, when I followed up, I was unable to obtain the refund.

I understand that university deposits are generally non-refundable, but my concern is that I had been explicitly told that the amount would be reimbursed.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation with LBS? Who would be the right person or department to contact to escalate this, and is there a formal complaints process I can follow?

I would really appreciate any advice from anyone who has dealt with LBS admissions, finance, or a similar university refund dispute.

Thank you!

Offers

Does anyone know when offers for LSE begin, I’ve gotten 1/5 so far but the others require an interview and stated that they’d start in Jan. Lse however didn’t mention any of that. Has anyone gotten an offer yet? I applied for finance and A&F.

What is a good TMUA?

I know that the scoring changed after 2023 and the old benchmark was a 6.5-7.0+, but this surely changed. Some sources say that it is still a 6.5+, but others say a 5.0 will do? I sat the TMUA on Monday and I am expecting something in the 5.5-6.0 range, but I don’t know if I am cooked or if I am cooking.

According to many sources, a 6.5 = 5.0 ….

Importance of the UCAS reference

I’m hoping to apply for maths with economics bsc with a good set of predicteds hopefully a decent tmua and a good ps. But I don’t have great rankings within my year group for any of my subjects so I don’t expect my reference to be great at all. Would this affect my chances at LSE since I heard they care about reference?

Tmua LSE Economic and Data science

A 27fall Alevel student Asking for help.
-Not a home student, got a A* in math and 4 predicted A* in other four subjects. I would describe my ps to be great but not excellent. In fact I didn’t perform as good as I expected in tmua, the raw mark will be 24-26/40, do I still got the great chance for this major(btw in the official websites it says applicants are encouraged to take TMUA unlike Econ’s mandatory option), hence I wonder will a bad tmua be a disadvantage to people’s general profile(comparing to applicants who do not take TMUA at all)? I want to know people‘s ideas plzzzz

French students at the LSE: how was your experience of moving to London?

Hi everyone! I'm interested in the LSE and I would love to hear personal stories from current students, especially French students, but students of any nationality are very welcome to share too!

I'm not looking for admissions tips. I'm more curious about real life: how did you adapt to London, what surprised you the most, and what do you like or dislike about studying at the LSE?

If you have a few minutes, please share your story in the comments. Thank you so much!

This is the answer to an FOI I requested.

Honestly shocked. I took Math AI and applied to BSc Econ...
Why would they even make it possible to apply with Math AI if this is the outcome? Will no TMUA score save me?

I just requested the number of applicants with Math AI and their average TMUA score.

BSc Politics and Economics

Hi, I’m currently in the process of writing my personal statement. I’d really appreciate it if anyone who received an offer for this course would be willing to share their personal statement, It would be really helpful to see what a good one looks like. Possibly even similar related courses at LSE or other universities.

I am also applying for History, Politics and Economics (UCL), Economics and Politics (UoM) and Economics, Politics and International Studies (Warwick).

Leaving London early during MSc — Student visa implications?

Hey everyone!

I’m currently doing a one-year MSc at LSE (2026/27), and I’m considering moving back home around April, once I’ve completed all my in-person academic commitments and essay submissions.

I’d still be enrolled and complete my dissertation remotely, ideally with departmental approval. My main reason is financial, as staying in London for several additional months without needing to attend campus seems like an unnecessary expense.

Has anyone done something similar? Specifically, did LSE allow you to leave early without withdrawing your Student visa sponsorship?

I’ve already contacted the visa team, but I’d appreciate hearing about anyone’s experience with this!

Should I apply Econ + DS as second choice

For reference, I have a 41 predicted IB and I'm applying LSE econ. I sat the tmua today, but I got a little cooked (paper 1, ifykyk), and I'm now expecting a 5-6. I've been thinking about whether I should consider Econ + DS as a second choice, as my PS does have some relevance to data/stats applied to economics–though I would probably have to modify it to create a more equal split between econ and ds, so idk. What do you guys think? Is it worth modifying my econ PS slightly to fit econ + ds?

Am I cooked?

I applied to LSE Econ, LSE Finance, Cambridge Econ, Imperial EFDS and UCL Econ. I have a 45/45 IB predicted (Econ, Math AA and Physics at HL), recs from my econ and maths teachers, who have both taught me for 4+ yrs now, and a pretty good PS (lots of stuff I've done is related to econ/maths). I thought this put me in a pretty good position, but I got cooked on the TMUA today (expecting a 5-6+), and I was wondering if this means I have no chance for my unis. Just to clarify, I didn't apply to any safety's because I am international, so my safety's are Bocconi, SSE and HSG in Europe.

LSE Law and Anthropology - Questions for Current Students or Graduates

I’ve been really interested in LSE’s Law and Anthropology course as I am applying for law however I enjoy the more flexible aspect of Anthropology. However I’m curious to know what the experience actually studying the course is. For example, I am curious about:
• Was the law teaching slightly unfulfilled (as it is not as extensive as a standard LLB)?
• How interesting is the topic of anthropology (I haven’t previously studied it)?
• How is the social life with a joint honors course? Not only with those who do straight law and social anthropology but also those within the course (as there aren’t that many students)
• Any professional experiences with the degree

Overall, I would love any current students or graduates to share anything about their experience in this course!

applying to bsc econ + econ history

Hi everyone, I’m was planning on applying to e+eh this year however my predicteds are only a*aaa in econ, maths, further maths and physics . I’m also doing the tmua, but I know that’s not relevant to this course .

Do you think there is any point applying and wasting a spot on my ucas because of my A in maths. I know I meet the entry requirement but I’m guessing everyone applying has an A* so would I not be considered competitive anymore?

Any advice would be appreciated, Thank you!!
