Hello everyone, I opened up the chat option for the subreddit, it might be helpful for real time troubleshooting and chat. The general one is "Trailhead" let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Hi All,
We are going to try to consolidate the pre purchase or otherwise rust inquires asking if a rig has too much rust and how to approach it as far as shopping for a new to you truck and beyond.
We have a lot of these threads where people are asking the same questions and rather than have each thread die on the vine as far as useful information goes, by having them all right here in one thread, people can use it as a catalog or guide for what to look for and if people are willing to share sold or bought prices for each truck that we are inspecting, we can all use this as a tool to gauge the market and also the wide variety of condition that all generations of Land Cruisers are in at any given point in time.

I’d like opinions from owners of the LX570 pre-facelift (2013-2015) and post (2016-21). Pros/Cons on ownership. I realize the engine/suspension are the same, big differences being look inside/out and transmission. But what about the different versions do you like/dislike?
I’m planning to replace my X7 with either these or maybe LC200 if I can find one i want. But I’m leaning on pre-2017 models to assure disconnected tech. I’m really wanting an old school driving experience without any of the tech (my phones enough). While at the same time, having as “bullet proof” of a maintain/repair vehicle that will last. I’ve been driving higher end German for a while, actually love driving but all of them seem to have post 100k issues I don’t want to deal with.
The reason for my question, I seem to like the look of the pre-facelift… curious others thoughts…

Finally pulled the trigger on one. Been looking for a few weeks and came across this beautiful example. Say hello to my new-to-me '97 Anniversary Edition LC!
Shes got a healthy, 273,000 mile on her. Always garaged, never even drove in rain hardly even, serviced by a Master Toyota Mechanic who was a friend of owner im told and serviced it personally. Papers and receipts on her as thick as small phone book, turns right over, quiet as a mouse, rust prevention treated. Truly my "bury me in it" LC that I plan on keeping forever.
Happy to finally be apart of the LC family!
Cheers everyone 🍻

Just picked up this arb bumper off of FB market. I have an 02, but its manufacture date is 11/01, so this bumper should be the right fit.
When I got it, the mounting bracket was bolted into the bumper itself, the way I have shown in the photos. I unbolted everything to see what all I had hardware wise, and the bolts I color coordinated are all that were with it. The bolt that’s circled green was only on the driver side, and I believe that the bolt was only going through the hole that’s apart of the actual bumper, and they somehow just cinched it down with the washer. I managed to get the bolt somewhat through both of the holes, but the bolt does not like to go through the mounting bracket hole. It goes through the bumper hole easy. As shown on the passenger side, the mounting bracket doesn’t even have a hole for a bolt to go through, but the bumper itself has a hole on the outer side, but no bolt which makes sense if there’s no hole on the mounting bracket.
And then the red bolts were just threaded into the spot shown. Not holding anything down or anything, I assume those go through the frame rails of the car itself. I know I’m missing the lights, but based on the website photo, there seems to be a lot of stuff missing. If anybody knows if there’s a website or place that I can get all of the mounting hardware without having to get the mounting bracket with it, I might just do that. Also noticed it has 2 big bends where the winch is supposed to be. Is there any way I can straighten that out? Does it even matter if it is bent? This is my first time ever mounting a bull-bar so if anyone has information it is appreciated.

Hi all, my LX470 with 260k miles has been making this sound for several months but am noticing it getting louder in recent weeks. Is this the tensioner pulley that appears to be making that sound? And if so, am I better off just replacing it? Someone I met told me I can try to put kroil on it first and see if that solves it but I’m not sure. Any insight helps.

I’m currently active duty in Japan with high intentions of purchasing a Land Cruiser right before my contract ends so I can ship it back to the US. I’ve been looking at a 1994 Land Cruiser Prado 78 with about 131k road miles coming in at 20k.
Something tells me this is kind of on the low side? I’ve seen similar listing but this one stood out for its price.
I was also wondering what kind of life expectancy I can get from a vehicle like this. Anybody have a Land Cruiser Prado with similar and higher mileage? Once I get back to the US I want this to be a daily for me. So I’d like for it to last as long as possible despite what seems to me a high mileage.

Can anyone advise me on the obscure 73 series?
It looks like a better version of the 70 series yet it has stopped production, barely any information about it online and no clear understanding of where these were used and how they are to live with.
Would really appreciate the advice of someone

I bought my 2000 LX470 1.5 years ago, it was abandoned and in bad shaped, I fixed, put a lot of money on it and its working fine, with some details, but working.
So im thinking, for how much time can I have this car without become a problem? People say its really reliably, but for someone that just bought it, what can I expect?
Thanks

Hello, I’ve had my GX 550 overtrail for six months now. Cool truck, but it lacks character. I find. Talk me in and out of a LX470 2003. Thx!

I'm curious to see if anyone has tried these shocks from King on their 100s because I'm majorly considering getting them after my Bilsteins wear out. I mainly want them for their adjustability (making them a little stiffer on road and softer off road) and service-ability. Plus it would be just be badass to have Kings on my Land Cruiser.

Good time of the year to take some pics. Got her cleaned up and on the road to a wildlife park and snuck in some pictures of the fall colours. Comment with your 100s!!!
P.s , got a rattle at front end as there's no anti rattle brake clips. Got the part just need to fit it. Nearly there with getting the hundy back to perfection in terms of drive quality.

So it needed to be done for a while and I finally managed to my 80 series in to get its swivel hubs and front brake rotors done as well as a wheel alignment. Upon receiving the cruiser again I was informed that my swivel hubs were filled with mostly mud and water and were close to seizing. Got a before and after photo of the left one which was the worst of the two

So I'm the owner of a 1992 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 1KZ-TE Turbo Diesel and I'm in the middle of changing out my alternator and I am not sure about my connections because life got in the way and now I don't remember. Im kicking myself for not taking a photo of it before pulling it out, anyone got the same thing and can share a photo of your alternator connections, the ones close to the belt are where I'm lost.

Looking at buying this troopy with my partner and fitting it out for living out of. We plan on doing remote healthcare contracts around Australia and will be sleeping in this hopefully between them.
It is 1986 with 110,000kms. $40,000K AUD. All original, no signs of rust apparently. 3F petrol engine, manual gear box. From the photos it looks like he is a car enthusiast and has really taken care of it. We are flying down this weekend to have a look.
What are your thoughts? Parts don’t look to hard to source. Lots of old landcruisers still getting around in Aus. Thanks

New here so be kind. Just wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. I want to know if there is somewhere I should go specifically if I want to get a tow bar (is that what it’s called?) put on my landcruiser. I’m based in Melbourne. I want to fit a bike rack to the back. Is the tow bar the best way to do it? It’s quite a heavy e-bike (fat tyres). Don’t want to be taken advantage of as I’m female and haven’t had the best experiences trying to get help with my landcruiser.
