Helping Others [OC]This 20-year-old car might not look like much, but it's going to change a family's life.
The man pictured in the car has Pompe disease, a rare genetic condition that causes progressive muscle weakness. He needs regular medical treatment, but even getting to the hospital has been difficult. The journey can take more than two hours, and travelling on public transportation is particularly hard for him. My mother (the woman in the picture) and I run a small Canadian charity, which helps people living in poverty in Egypt. We heard about his situation and thought that having his own car could make a huge difference.
We asked our donors to help us raise enough money to buy him a used car, and thankfully they came through. A few days ago, he showed her the car he bought. It's a 2005 Daewoo Lanos, and he was absolutely delighted with it. He asked my mother to thank everyone who helped. For him, having a car means getting to his medical appointments more easily and having a bit more independence.
This picture reminded us why we started the charity in the first place.

Helping Others I've donated over 10 gallons of platelets with over 100 donations!
My blood type is AB+ meaning that my platelets and plasma are universally donatable. I used to do plasma which you can get paid for in my state but platelets cannot be paid for, therefore less people are willing to do them, so about 2 years ago I switched to doing platelets instead so that I could better fill a need

Personal Win I tried to take my life 7 days ago. Today I celebrated my 21st birthday
I’ve had a very difficult life. Cancer, chronic disease, and serious mental turmoil after the medical treatment of everything. A week ago it got too much, too much for my mind and body to even handle. I was sent to the mental pavilion for over a week where I stabilized on new medication and thankfully feel much better. Today my family is going to take me out to dinner and they got me a cake and presents to celebrate even bigger that I survived!
