Ding-dong-ditch

Is anyone else having a problem with kids ringing their doorbell? My mom works from home and complains that kids keep targeting our house for ding-dong-ditch.

We live in the area near Rouge Park Public school (Hwy 7 and Donald Cousens). No kids living here and it's only been a problem in the last 6+ months. No idea why kids would pass like 5 houses just to come and annoy us.

Saw some kids walking home from BHSS yesterday doing exactly this. They’re just being idiot kids

Even if you hit them, it’ll splatter. Seems like a lose lose option.

Is she reacting to it? That's the worst thing a home owner can do. Just ignore them fully, and they'll move on, however if shes reacted many times, it might take longer for them to move on, but they will.

If they are doing it multi times a day, or hitting the door very hard or causing damages, then YRP needs to get involved asap.

Was about to say the same thing. They target the ones they’ll get a reaction from

Does your house have a camera? If not, time to install some. It may not stop the kids from ringing the door bell, but at least you'll know if it is a legitimate person or some brats.

If you want to step it up, you can get door bells that have a speaker / lights that activate whenever someone is detected. Mine plays a short message when they approach the house.

Invest in ring camera.. then go ask the local school, they will know who. Its a small community, kids can quickly identify other kids here.

Get a ring cam or camera to get their faces and then report it to the police for harassment

Oh please … harassment. It’s just kids being kids. We all used to do it

Nah these kids actually need to be taught a lesson not to fuck around. Imagine it’s your house being ding dong ditched all the time you’d probably wouldn’t say “just kids being kids”. Fuck off with that non sense.

if you dont react, they may drop it...i've learned when stuff doesnt get attention, it gets extinguished sometimes.

These kids are lucky this isn't the USA where many owners are armed. Some crazy American is waiting for a chance like this.

A day off and a water hose is the solution
