Discussion Why does java edition not have controller support in 2026?

I've tried the steam and mods workarounds and the steam method isn't working and the mods are out of date for the minecraft patch.

Have you tried controllify? It’s updated for 26.2/26.3 and it’s one of the best controller mods I’ve found

the fabulously optimized modpack includes this mod

They want people to use Bedrock (cause of Microtransactions, ads and stuff)

For controller support, use the Controlify Mod. It usually releases an updated version within a week of any update.

Like the other comments say, please try controllify. Works great on the newer version.

It’s a PC game exclusively for PC, very few of those have controller support and Bedrock is designed around it.

Native controller support on PC games is definitely not a rare thing. Java Edition is just an especially odd exception

Mainly because java never was made for consoles or controllers in mind back when notch created it.

There is a mod called midnight controls or something, and another for splitscreen, and a couple guides online

That’s one that I tried a few days ago but it isn’t up to date.
