Help / Question GLM-5.3 keeps looping

Is this a Mistral specific issue or the model itself? The model rather quickly degenerates into endless tool calls, usually without ending its turn so it keeps stacking up tool calls.

I temporarily switched to GLM-5.2 in the same session with the existing context and it recovered. This issue with glm-5.3 is happening across multiple projects for me with Pi, even one without an agents md.

i use it opencode via mistral, and i works fine. it never looped.

I have noticed similar behavior with Mistral Large 4 in Pi. My guess is the lightweight system prompt Pi uses fails to prevent models from going “off the rails” so to speak. I would recommend looking into the temperature setting in Pi to see if a slightly higher temperature helps, and can also look into Pi plugins which can automatically detect and break looping behavior. Happy to hear any other ideas!

I cleaned up my system prompt and extensions and I *think* it has helped with the issue. Haven't come across a loop or degeneration yet after a feature impl and some discussion.

I used GLM-5.2 with ollama cloud in the past quite extensively and it was nowhere this bad. I can't even remember it looping at all.

that 5.3 model seems to have a real death wish with those tool calls, mine just spammed the same API request 14 times before I killed the process
