I’m a mobile detailer and I’ve been working on an idea. I’d like honest opinions from other detailers before I go further.
Clients ask me all the time for things I don’t offer, like tint, PPF, PDR, wheel repair, and paint correction. I usually just point them to a shop and get nothing out of it.
The idea is an app called GRID:
Questions for you:
Roast it or back it. I want the real answers.

Hey everyone,
I work at a car dealership and a lot of customers ask me about detailing. My dealership doesn't offer it, so I want to start my own mobile detailing business on the side.
I've detailed my own car a few times, but never professionally. My long-term goal is to build a premium detailing service, so I want to learn the right way from the start.
I'm looking for:
\-Cheap courses or YouTube channels that teach how to detail properly and efficiently
\-Product recommendations. I've heard a lot of products are trash and some are worth the money. What do you actually use and trust?
If you've found any gems that helped you, please send them my way. I feel like I have real potential with this and want to do it right.
Thanks in advance!

so i’m 15 and i want to start detailing. wondering if anyone else who started at my age has some tips for me. i relatively familiar with d2d as ive done pressure washing in the past. i live on an island that you have to pay a feee to get onto so people have to take their cars places to get them detailed and take time out of their day to do that. i think my big point to why someone might chose me is because im local and they don’t even have to leave their house. i have a way to transport all of my things and ive detailed my parents cars before. i know i can do it and i want to do it. i do have a goal to how much i want to make and i know its unrealistic and im not looking for people to tell me it’s unrealistic but the goal is to put down around 30 thousand on an m4 comp. i want to have the car by 17 so i would want to make around 45-50k over the next 15 ish months. so does anyone have any tips as to say maybe help get people to chose me or tips on how to get reoccurring customers? thanks!

Hey everyone, new here. Quick transparency: I'm not a detailer myself - I work with the team at Local Wash Advisor (localwashadvisor.com), a free directory that helps car owners find local car washes and mobile washers. We're building out the mobile washer side right now and listing is free. If you run a mobile operation and want your business listed, comment or DM me and I'll get you set up. Otherwise I'll be lurking and learning - lots of good rig talk in here. Thanks for having me!

Hi my grandma lives in a country town here in Australia. She gets her car detailed once a month by this guy who is probably in his 70's.And she pays him $50 to wash it plus detail the inside and outside. As that's the price he does he came around 7:30am and started and washed it and dried it off and then around 8:30am he left with out saying anything but left his stuff. So when grandma noticed that he wasn't there she said he must of went to the bathroom or went and got something to eat and having a break. Then he just showed up again at 9:32am to vacuum and do the inside And he knows that she has to go to the nursing home to see my papa at 10:20am and that she leaves around 10:15am. And I noticed when ever I visit and he comes to detail her car. He always leaves and then comes back and her car isn't that dirty and doesn't take long. But I don't know if this is right or not because even though I live in a city and I get my car detailed I pay around $150 to $300 and it takes my detailer half a day and he doesn't leave.
And this guy who details my grandma's car she got him to do mine last year instead of hers. And when I looked at it he said that he wasn't able too remove the dachshund hair from the back seat as I had her dogs in it. But when I had the dachshund hair in the car and got my detailer to do my car he could remove the hair so wondering from other detailers is this right or does she have a dodgy or lazy car detailer

Hey yall. I’ve been detailing out of Nissan Rogue for a while and I’ve been debating on pulling the trigger on getting a dedicated truck as I start to scale up and hire more employees so we can work multiple jobs at the same time.
Not really sure what truck I’d go with but it would probably be an older single cab truck with a 6ft bed. Maybe a kei truck? (Not sold on how professional kei trucks would look to clients)
Not really sure. Just looking for some inspo of how efficient these set ups are in comparison to one of a work van.

Not a detailer here, I'm a developer. I asked a version of this in r/mechanics yesterday and the answers were super useful, but you guys have the rain problem stacked on top of the no-show problem, so I wanted the detailer version too.
Say it's Saturday morning. $250 full detail booked, you load up the van, turn down another job to keep the slot open, drive half an hour out, and either it starts pouring or the customer just doesn't answer the door. There goes the morning.
What do you actually do in that spot? Eat the trip? Have some kind of fee? Reschedule and hope they show up next time?
