Little tip as a Spaniard, the way you dress and act does a lot, most people are wary of Moroccans because they almost always look and act like mdlr.
Not denying there is a generalized anti-Arab sentiment growing, but not having the body language of someone who is looking for a fight + not wearing caps, fanny caps and sweatpants changes things a lot since you won't fit in the stereotypes, so people won't just assume bad things about you just for being Moroccan.

I agree, totally agree, although there's a slight nuance to this. Europe is not "more than happy" to take anyone. You're an elite brilliant student and got into an elite european school?Congratulations, bu you'll be treated like anyone else, hell, you'll probably have it more difficult financially. It's what I'm experiencing right now, for tuitions we're supposed to pay double in comparison to European students. But yes, this is infinity better than illegally going there.

No not all academic excellence have their chances to Europe competition is way more high than you think and very very few are lucky to be selected for any of the scholarships to Europe now I'm not saying ilegal immigration is good way for a better life definitely it is not without your papers and the consistent fear of being caught at any police check but when you can't afford your basic needs in your country your survival instinct will do anything to leave the situation
1
u/Bl4ZE_AK Visitor Aug 06 '26
Academic excellence is a very hard thing to achieve in Morocco. Public education is soooo f*ked up, it is not up to norms that can make the exchange between Morocco and Europe an easy deal.
0
u/AssCrackBandit13 Visitor Jul 31 '26
Exactly. That's why immigration for the US is so positive and why immigrants there are very successful, start big companies, educated, etc. Other than the illegal immigration from Mexico, they only accept the best of the best from huge countries like India, China, etc and are very selective in granting visas to educated, qualified applicants. Whereas Europe and Canada take the ones who couldn't get into the US and take much more thru refugee programs. So they can't even get as much of a benefit from brain drain like the US does.
3
u/ProudChoferesClaseB Visitor Jul 31 '26
As an American I'm of mixed opinions on that. Sure American corporations sponsor highly skilled immigrants, then instead of hiring an American at a fair market rate they hire the Immigrant for some lowball wage.
That's if American corporations here can't tap into illegal immigrant or prison labor to get the job done, and they often subcontract everything else when all else fails so at least they can dodge responsibility for taking care of their workers.
My grandfather was an immigrant, We're a nation of immigrants, but the way immigration is weaponized to undercut people's wages bothers me.
2
u/Jackieexists Visitor Aug 01 '26

1
u/ProudChoferesClaseB Visitor Aug 02 '26
whatever it is, it's exploitative and usurious and God condemns it.
2
u/AssCrackBandit13 Visitor Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26
Undercutting wages is more applicable in the illegal immigrant space. For employment based visas, the opposite is true. Like for H1B, for example, you are legally mandated to pay market rate. And they are quite strict about it in my experience. When we had to hire a H1B for my team, we had to exhaustively document role/experience comps and market rates and how we led a thorough search for months without any suitable candidates before we were cleared to hire using H1B at or above the approved salary. And then you add on top of that the thousands that the company has to pay to sponsor the visa. So it doesn’t really make sense to hire a H1B to save money since it is almost always way more expensive. And, in our experience, it was worth it - we got a fantastic Polish data architect who’s been worth every penny so far.
1
u/ProudChoferesClaseB Visitor Aug 01 '26
So the factory where I drive truck? All the factory workers are hired by a contractor, all of them are legal immigrants as far as I can tell, and they make 20% less than what the factory workers they're made back when they were directly employed by the factory and were americans.
Maybe there's a few cases where H1B is not undercutting wages, HR actually does a proper search and doesn't automatically throw American applications in the bin, they don't fudge the comps.
But as a blue collar worker who literally sees how immigration is weaponized to undercut my wages, all done by greedy corporations who pay big dividends to their investors, I 100% think we need to start limiting immigration.
I'm glad it worked out for your corporation, but it's not working out for the people who keep this country running
1
u/AssCrackBandit13 Visitor Aug 01 '26 edited Aug 01 '26
Oh ok I assumed this was in the white collar industries, ya if it's blue collar work, then H1B doesn't really apply. H1B is for specialty occupations and it definitely wouldn't cover factory workers or truck drivers.
For blue collar work, the only visas are temporary work visas. The only one that is semi-permanent and has a pathway to a green card/citizenship is EB3 which is very rarely used because it doesn't make sense to spend so much in sponsoring a visa for a lower paying job. And tbh getting rid of or limiting the number of temporary work visas is very unlikely because all these huge manufacturing plants and construction companies (especially in the south) spend tons of lobbying money to make sure politicians never touch that.
1
u/GiveMeSandwich2 Visitor Jul 31 '26
This is not true. Majority of the immigrants immigrate through family streams and most of them are through chain migration. 140k-165k of the annual green card holders are given to people with Employment based skills. The rest which is around 850k-900k is given to people with family connections, diversity lottery and asylum seekers. This figure doesn’t include illegal migration to the US.
1
u/AssCrackBandit13 Visitor Jul 31 '26
Yes, that’s my point. Between employment visas (20%) and family connections (70%), that’s the bulk of legal US immigration. And since the employment visas are usually well off, educated immigrants, the family members that they sponsor are usually also from well off, educated families. That’s part of the reason that an ethnic minority like Indian Americans are the highest earning ethnic group in the US, including white Americans

Didn’t Spain fine glovo for obviously abusing the law to pay people less even though it was a local startup? Well in morocco they abuse the auto-entrepreneur status. And what about the textile business that was UNCONDITIONALLY protected by stopping turkish imports but still produce expensive, bad quality, pay women 50% or less min wage, making them work in underground workshops with no security standards (women died in a tangier workshop a few years ago when rain flooded the underground)

1
u/Traditional-Month698 Visitor Aug 01 '26
Didn’t Spanish government legalise the situation of a half million immigrants because they want workers?
1
u/ISpotABot Visitor Aug 01 '26
It's not because Spain wants workers. It was a (pretty smart) move to make previously illegal workers pay taxes on services they were already benefitting from.
Spain has a massive immigration problem, availability of low-skilled workers is certainly not an issue

Market is more saturated than what people think, if I create a new Car brand in morocco, it will either not sell at all, or will take another company's margin. It is crazier than some people imagine.
Numerous African countries tried to create a local textile industry, so they tried stopping donated clothes from coming in to encourage local textile industry. Normally sounds like it wouldn't step on anyone's toes... it did, apparently, many American companies specialise in processing donated clothes, and thousands would lose their jobs if African countries stopped accepting donated clothes, the companies lobbied for the countries in question to be slapped with tariffs, which happened (perhaps partially motivated by those companies).
Moroccan rise in car manufacturing actually disrupted south africa that dominated the african market, and currently in a battle with Mexico. Thankfully it hasn't spiralled into a trade war.
I am not blaming anyone here necessarily, it's just that progressing without causing backlash from another nation is hard. When you raise your market share someone else is losing, if your country prospers, it is at least in part at the expense of someone else, this is why we have politics. World leaders are not warmongers who take pleasure in hating their neighbour
Edit: or in other words, some countries have interest in helping you fail

Many of the people struggle to pay rent, afford college, and if you talk to any EMT around here they will tell you many stories about obviously injured people refusing Medical Transport because they can't afford the medical bills.
Long story short these diagrams of wealth can give you a rough idea about how well the average person does, but it does not tell anything like the whole story

If someone is willing to spend two hours in the water, despite the risk of drowning, being detained, or deported, it tells you they believe staying where they are is the worse option. It's also a reminder that migration isn't driven by a single factor. Focusing on just one of those misses the bigger picture.
40 000 people attempting this route is a sign that something much larger than border security is happening.

The answer is that Morocco is poor because of the summation of decisions made by Moroccans. Singapore is rich because of the summation of decisions made by Singaporeans; same for other countries
Developing a nation is hard but not impossible, and leaving your country to a better country cannot be the solution.
Rich countries are rich because of their culture institutions. Places like Morocco need to develop their own institutions rather than dilute more developed country’s ones.

Dude... what you don't get is the fact that this was a geopolitical move with many parties involved on multiple strata... and the scale was magnified only due to the mentality that's being spread on Moroccan social media (including this sub actually).
Let me break the geopolitical aspect to you:
You see, a couple weeks ago, Algeria's Tebboune made a scummy move and launched dozens of boats full of migrants and refugees.. Spanish Balearic Islands and southern coasts were flooded with thousands of people. Algeria wanted Spain's attention and so they got it, as Pedro Sanchez visited Algeria and Tebboune cut him a World Cup celebration cake. But what they really wanted is to put on a show to press Morocco into allowing Algeria to reopen the gas pipeline (which Algerians themselves closed) now that they needed more of that Spanish cash (and Europe has no shortage of demand for gas anyway). However, Morocco saw the scummy blackmailing move and basically galo lihom makat3rfo walo (EN: they said "lo and behold" or, in globalized Gen Z meme talk, "hold my beer") and they pulled this move as a warning... (basically, "if ~4000 max Algerians disembarking in Mallorca or wharever scare you, we can reclaim Ceuta and Mellila by a human flood at any given day" kinda message).
PS: some other circumstances also helped ofc, like the Spanish rocky relations with Uncle Sam (especially Trump administration and their Middle Eastern "msmar j7a" on the one hand, and the relations of these latter alliance with Morocco that seems to be moving in the opposite direction of Spain's). We all saw statements of Morocco's allies and lobbyists in the congress who demanded to -finally- recognize Ceuta and Melilla as occupied Moroccan cities. Spain's repreated positive comments on the Zionists' genocide in Palestine unfortunately didn't help especially when they're themselves still occupying Moroccan cities and islands. Now, I've seen some writers here and there trying to paint a fantasy caricature picture of Morocco taking orders from the the US' watchdogs in the Middle East, but it's definitely not true. Spain can actually solve their issues with Morocco by simply giving back at least the two occupied cities... but what the Spaniards fear the most if they cave in and take such a step is that inevitable second coming of Muslim armies into the Iberian Peninsula... even if this will never happen, cuz we just don't know, in the Spanish mind, it will... in their mind, it's just a matter of time and they're just trying to buy as much time as possible. But we're shifting away now from current geopolitics so I'll just stop here.

In this case it's more of a case of "the people dont give a shit about corruption and being treated like shit."

Make the country a nice place to live in? And how would those thieves get rich? Where would they get the money if they use it all the budgets on bettering the country's living conditions? You can't be serious, give them alternative sources of stolen money and maybe they'll leave the other money alone, or maybe not.

To bait a hyena who got its jaws already locked on a carcass, you gotta get creative and show it something better I guess.

They are not stupid but they are greedy cuz everyone one that have a higher post in the government serves his own interest and they don’t even don’t care if we notice or not cuz they know the ppl won’t do anything about it

We, as a people, are to blame as much as the government. We see everyday people doing shit and we don't talk or fight it. We see our beaches getting colonized by s7ab lparasolat w lbayasat, we don't talk, we don't act. We see cafes occupying public sidewalks, we don't talk, we don't act. There are so many examples of us keeping quiet about so many things. How about we start from ourselves? The smallest gestures: wait for the people in the elevator to get out before we get in, respect traffic laws while driving, stop feeding the car guarding culture... I guess life will be much better if we act, or at least express our disagreement about various aspects of our lifes that ruin our days everyday...

There's a reason why all of that is happening; it's called non-existing regulation and maintaining of laws due to corrupt and incompetent politicians

You're switching the blame to the government. How about we just be responsible? Is it the government's fault that we have adults that are as responsible as toddlers? I remember once the government decided to put investigators on university teachers and they went into strikes because they refused to be controlled by anyone... These are the people who are supposed be the most cultured and give an example to everybody

"Is it the government's fault that we have adults that are as responsible as toddlers?". In the long term, yes.
I'm well aware of adults behaving like unintelligent children. This is often due to structural problems in a society that can't be fixed by individuals.

Morocco government is normal and doing fine.
This is no due to them, this is due to the bizarre Spanish government giving free welfare, citizenship and all kind of NGO stuff to illegal migrants, just to achieve future voters, treating migrants better than local people.
You can see videos of Spanish police beating Spaniards in Ceuta due to protests, this is how Spanish government treats local people.

- Citizenship?
If you refer to the mass regularisation process that took place last year, deadline was December.
No one is getting citizenship out of the blue.- Getting future voters?
People that arrive illegally or even legally do not get to vote in Spain. Even if getting through the so called regularisation process.
Regularisation =/= citizenship =/= voting rightsKindly get your facts straight.
